I've watch a couple of videos before I also went with the Cross climate 2, I had the Michelin Hydro Edge put on a 2000 Grand Marquis in 2004 and drove them for 80,000 plus miles when I traded it in. I remember going from the OEM tire that was on the car when I bought it the hydro edges... The biggest difference was Highway on and off ramps, the control was fantastic and took the slang BOAT out of the car. I drove that Car from St Louis to Fresno CA, Phoenix, Utah, Oregon, And the trip to Flagstaff during the winter was so easy, no chains, passing everyone in 8 inches of snow. Never had a accident, and they stopped on a dime. That Stopped on a Dime is the first thing I noticed coming home from getting the Cross Climate, the STOP on a dime and Hwy ramps have never been so much fun on the 2018 RAV4. Thanks guys, I'm at 300 miles, will be seeing if you get to the 60 k mark ❣️

I purchased a set of CC2 for my 21 Highlander. I noticed the tires have decreased MPH (app 1 MPG). I was able to swap out to a set of Pirelli Scorpions. I feel the Pirellis ride better and the MPG is improved. Both are great tires but for me the scale tips to Pirelli.
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech 8 месяцев назад
Interesting... Which model Scorpions did you go with? They make a ton under that name, including several 3 Mountain Peak models. I see the Winter 2's and popular and so are the WeatherActive's. The issue I have had with Pirelli's in the past has been tread life. Now, I haven't had the Scorpions, but other model Pirelli's have let me down in that category. Check back with us and let us know how things are going with the Pirelli's I would be curious. Sometimes when you have had one experience with a brand it is difficult to get over that, but I would be willing to do so if the Pirelli's treat you well over the long-haul. Thanks for watching and commenting!

It was a toss up between the CC2 and Scorpions. The Scorpions have a bit more tread (11/32) and high " density" rating at 800 vs 600 on the CC2. Tirerack said the CC2 would be slightly louder and less mpg. I'm very happy with the Pirelli Scorpions and saved $100.

This article is my first view of your channel; very interesting. I came across your RU-vid article, while researching for new tires for my wife's 2019 Honda C-RV Touring AWD. I like the tread design and specs of the CrossClimate2 tires. I am a retiring CPA, and not an auto mechanic and not with any special auto or tire knowledge or expertise. My personal opinion is safety first, and not the best mileage you can get from the tire. Therefore, I take the approach of buying new tires before the tread life is near replacement indicators.

Much of why I really like the CrossClimate 2's. I know I have great traction for most any weather condition and not to go faster, but to get there safely! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Did you end up going with the CrossClimate2’s? My wife has the same Honda. I was thinking of tires

I have a 2019 Nissan Rogue, I hate the Falken tires it came with. They’re already at like 4/32 with only 24,000 miles despite regular rotations. Plus they’re loud and the traction is horrible in the rain and snow. I’ve consistently either these or the defender 2. I’m leaning more towards the cross-climate 2 but I’m worried about the noise. That’s the one consistent thing that people are complaining about with these tires.
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech Год назад
I guess noise is relative and it depends on what you compare them to, but me personally noise wouldn't be why I didn't buy these tires. We now have 3 sets of CC2's and it isn't an issue on any of the vehicles. Obviously, you have to decide what is best for you but we are happy with these on our minivan and two sedans.

I have had the crossclimate 2(s) about 3 weeks. So far so good. They stop quicker/shorter distance. They do not spin when I peel out like the Michelin pilots did. They were decent on wet payment no spinning. I will post more once I make it through the snow and more wet weather.

how will these tires stand against florida hot weather
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech Год назад
That is a great question. It gets hot and humid in Nebraska and one of our vehicles has to sit outside full-time. So far, after over a year in the weather all the time the tires are doing great! Of course, we don't have 100 degree weather all the time, sometimes it is 10 degrees and others it is 70. I have also driven in the heat here in Nebraska as well as Florida and the states between on a road trip. I am happy to report that the heat never negatively impacted the driving characteristics of the tires. A good tip for helping any tire with the weather is to find a good dressing to apply periodically that contains a UV protectant to help prevent sun damage once the factory UV starts to fade away. The dressing will not only help your tires look good, but help prevent sun damage and cracking. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thanks for the review. I am looking at the CC2 and I have read some reviews that the MPG goes down slightly. I am wondering if you noticed any changes to MPG?
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech Год назад
I didn't mention mileage in the review because of the variables involved. So, during the time we switched to the new tires the route my wife takes to work has added no less than 5 new stoplights. It would be nearly impossible to determine the impact of the lights versus the tires. We have seen about a 0.3MPG downward change over the past 2 years. So, even if the impact was 100% the tires, which I doubt, it would represent less than a 1.4% change. I suspect the lights have a much higher impact since those lights added where all on highways with speed limits of 55MPH. I have also had people mention the reductions as much as 5%, but I have not seen those results personally on any of the 3 sets of CC2's we currently have installed on our vehicles. Some of those results can also be influenced by climate, driving habits, road conditions/construction, and traffic/route characteristics. Thanks for watching and leaving your question in the comments!

Thanks for all the input and reviews. We did put on the CC2. This is my wifes Chrysler 300 so I am not really sure of the mileage drop. I don't feel that there is any change but It is winter time so I don't think I can give accurate data on that. What I can say is that we took it on a 3200 mile road trip and they performed excellent. We went up into the mountains with some snow and ice and did not have any traction control issues. After we returned home and we got one of the worst rain, ice, snow storms that we have had this year. Not in the form of deep snow but terrible chunky ice and snow drifts. My wife said the tires handled great and felt more comfortable and confident than she did with the old Michelin Primacy all season. I would highly recommend these tires. Thank You

I truly understand that everyone has the positive opinions on these Crossclimate 2 tires, But ? I just noticed upon walking out of a coffee shop that my rear tire was very low so as I connected my Milwaukee air compressor to my surprise my tire had cracks along the side walls, So I call my friends shop and he told me to bring the car to him and upon removing the tire we noticed that the other side of the tire was as if it was sliced all around the side walls and this made me look at the other 3 tires and they were all the same. Please have your tire shop lift your car so that they can remove the entire air from the tires because thats the only way your going to see these cracks. If your tire is filled with air you won't be able to see these cracks so make sure you deplete the air. {VERY DANGEROUS} I already made a claim with Michelin and just waiting for my friend to get back to me from the warehouse distributor, GL everyone.

Interesting... This is the first I have heard of an issue like this one with these tires. I can certainly understand the sidewalks deteriorating with age, especially if the vehicle is outside much or all the time. Obviously, you shouldn't have to worry about that with well maintained tires that are still well within the service life. How long have you had the tires and does the vehicle have to sit outside in the weather often - while at work, home, etc? How old are the tires? What climate are you in? Do you use any tire dressings on the tires? What you described is obviously a very serious problem and concern. Let us know what information Michelin provides back to you. We appreciate the view and the comment!

Absolutely, My car is garage kept from Pennsylvania to Fairfield CT & I only have about 11k miles on the tires. I also noticed if I put any side wall dressing & the answer is no. But as I've mentioned before the most cracks were noticed in the inside of the tires where its literally impossible to put dressing on. I also went to my friend's shop today & he took my side & stated they have to give me a replacement for free & I told him once approved im only going back to Continental tires (No more Michelin) This issue has cost me 3 days of lost work 200 miles away from home & having to wait for an answer in maybe a few days or as my friend said 2+ weeks.

My outcome was resolved by distribution ship warehouse but tires were prorated incorrectly leaving me to pay 1/2. Due to this outcome my friend lost me as a customer & Michelin as well. Stay safe 🙏

at 60.000 km are them still reliable?
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech 10 месяцев назад
This update isn't too far off that mileage number since 34,000 miles is almost 55,000 km. So, I am using that as the basis of the rest of my answer. Depending on what you specifically mean by reliable, I would give you a short answer of possibly yes. Here is why possibly yes, and not definitely yes. It will depend on your driving habits, so not all 60,000 km will have your tires in the same condition. My wife's driving habits are very conducive to achieving high mileage on these tires with good performance characteristics because she doesn't push her vehicle hard to accelerate or decelerate. She doesn't corner hard or drive in an aggressive fashion at all. She also drives quite a few miles each year so it keeps the age impact on the tires to a minimum. I am sure she is now well past the 60,000 km mark (probably around 80,000 km) and she has around 8/32's of tread left on the tires. That likely puts her on track to hit the mileage warranty number with some usable tread left. However, time and different driving habits will significantly impact tire wear. The harder you are on the tires the less likely they are to be "reliable" at 60,000 km. As well, if you don't drive much and the car sits in the elements for years, time might do the tires in well before 60,000 km. Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope we helped provide some guidance on your question.

I am thinking of getting these for our '17 Pacifica for use around Chicagoland / Iowa. How is the noise on the tires on your van and what speed rating did you get? I saw a video saying the V rated tires were louder than the H, but the H seems to be backordered where I am checking.
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech 7 месяцев назад
The tires on my wife's van are H-rated and more than sufficient. The conventional wisdom would be that V-rated tires could be louder and not wear as well, but that does depend on the tire. I, unfortunately, cannot answer if that will be the case with the CrossClimate 2's. The V-rated, especially for a Pacifica, will be overkill but isn't really a problem other than some potential increased noise and potential decrease tread life. I wish I could help more! You might try checking some reviews on Tirerack or another online tire sales website and see if anyone has posted about the V-rated tires. Thanks for watching and for posting your question! Let us know what you decide to do and how things go for you!

@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching and commenting. I would have to say something is wrong if you're seeing that kind of mileage drop. Sure, these tires did slightly decrease mileage on the 3 cars I have them on, but we're talking 1.5MPG on the high-end. I think you were meaning to say your mileage dropped by 7 MPG not to 7MPG, but that has to be in the neighborhood of 15-20% on that vehicle, depending on your driving mix and habits. I definitely haven't encountered what I would call a significant noise increase, if one at all. Again, we have 3 different sizes on three different vehicles. That doesn't equate to a huge sample size, but more than most individuals we have at one time. I would definitely bring your concerns to the tire store you purchased them from as what you describe doesn't match my experience. It is possible you got a bad set, or mounted incorrectly, or possibly not balanced. Sorry you've had such a bad experience! It stinks when you buy something expensive and then get let down by bad results!

Questions for both of you: does the tire on wet or raining day on the stop light when step on gas is the car sticking to road not skiding? Does the tire hold on wet weather and does not hydroplane?
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech Год назад
So, for question number one. The grip is good from a stop as long as you don't mash down on the accelerator. For the Taurus I have, the threshold to spin the tires slightly is less than the minivan. I think that probably makes sense. It does skid, but you can spin the tires slightly on wet pavement if you give it enough gas. Even when I have accidently done so, traction is gained quickly and there wasn't ever a risk of losing control. Question #2... On wet pavement or deep puddles, I have never experienced any loss of grip nor any hydroplaning. These tires channel water extremely well. I have been in some major downpours with these tires and on slick new blacktop and never worried about traction or control. All tires have limits, but I have never reached the limits of these tires and that is a good thing. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and leaving your comment!

Can you use them for towing a small trailer? Or would the Michelin XLE m/s be more suitable for that. We do get snow in our area, and they are going on a Toyota Highlander. Thanks!
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech Год назад
Great question! The Crossclimate2's certainly can be used for a small trailer. I would refer you to the Service Description for each tire. Depending on the size you need, the XLE M/S looks to have around a 200KG per tire advantage in its rating. But, verify your size tire for each model because I looked at one example not the actual size for you. The tires appear to be around the same price. So, I would say look at the ratings and how much you'll tow and decide what is really going to meet your needs the best. Appreciate you dropping by and leaving your question.

Hi I am considering trade in my winter tires and put on cc2 all year. How is the ride comfort and noise level compare to regular Michelin all season? Thanks
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech Год назад
In the testing I did and shown in the head-to-head review against the Michelin Primacy tires, the interior sound from both tires was relatively the same. That video is available on the channel if you would like to see that information. I used a sound meter on my phone while driving with both sets of tires on the same stretch of road. The comfort and handling have been great compared to the Primacy tires. I have lots of different tires over the years, and these have become far-and-away my favorite. I have owned Firestone, Pirelli's, Hankook, Michelin, Continental, and others. We currently have these tires on three of our cars. We're really putting our money where our mouth is since we paid for these with no incentives or sponsorship from Michelin. They are tires I researched, tried and liked and have continued to buy for additional cars. Hard to say if it will be better than your snow tires, but I really don't feel like I have compromised much and I don't have to try to time the change over - I let the weather do whatever it is going to do and the right tires are always on my car. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Do check-out the Primacy vs CC2 video, I think you'll find it helpful. Best Regards, Bruce and Keith - Dads Talk Tech!

What’s your thoughts on putting these on my 2020 ct5 550t . Upstate Ny New sub
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech Год назад
Here are my thoughts... Depending on where in Upstate NY you are, you could be looking at a ton of annual snowfall! We get some good snows here, but parts of NY - whew! I haven't personally had to deal with that consistent significant snow like that, but the CC2's have been up to every challenge I have thrown their way. Now, for the 2020 CT5 550T.. Sweet car, BTW! So, some things that will play into this consideration. Do you have the 2.0L 4-cylinder or the 3.0 Twin Turbo 6-cylinder. And another very important question - the rear-wheel drive or optional AWD. If you have rear-wheel drive and the 6-cylinder, that is a ton of horsepower to the rear wheels. If you do have the AWD with either engine, but especially the 6-cylinder, being able to distribute that power to all the wheels will be a huge advantage. I think the CC2's mated with the AWD on that car would lead to some serious confidence! So, I think, especially compared to other options out there, the CC2's could be a good option for you. If you like to drive to the performance characteristics of this car, maybe dedicated performance and winter tires might be in-order. But, the CC2's can be had with good speed ratings, they may not do the trick for you if summer fun in the sun involve pushing the car deep into its performance capabilities. If you tend to stay more within the lines, these tires could be just what you're looking for to cover winter and summer driving conditions. Thanks for the question and being a subscriber! Best Regards!
