Amazing contributor to Greg. As a fellow beer reviewer of my own in a top-notch fan of treehouse this makes my heart warm. He will be missed. One of the fellow beer reviewers I watched on the regular. Cheers to all
Good to see that you guys also do bittering in your hazy IPAs, even though I've heard constantly about NEIPA stlye beers often not having a bittering addition. I've never tried your stuff, or any American Hazies, but in my corner of the world Hazy IPAs and Pale Ales are also dominant and the brewery I learned to brew at always had a small bittering addition in these beers. You can tell when they don't - the hops lack depth and the beer is flabby and one dimensional.
I've been a pro brewer for 9 years. I've made hundreds of thousands of litres of IPAs, Double IPAs, countless Hazy Pale Ales and Hazy IPAs, but my go-to beer is a good Pilsner, especially a good NZ Pilsner (it's where I live). Must contain Motueka for that limey goodness, and preferably one other NZ hop. I love to have a 10 minute addition then a whirlpool addition and usually no dry hop. The way the aroma hops react with the lager yeast really brings out that lemony character!
There's an Australian hop called Victoria Secret and....I swear it makes beer taste like the worst, burnt plastic phenolic disaster. I just don't get why it exists
Thanks for all the great content! Question: For 1st-time Treehouse patrons, what are your top 3 draft pour choices? Julius is mandatory for me, but what’s two other great Treehouse beers you’d pick? PS. Aside from IPA, I love Lagers and Belgian styles 🍻
Beer and all alcohol is pathetic. What it does to the body, how it make people act. Just so sad. Especially losers who make videos like this or make breweries. Hollow loser.
I LOVED Summerfest last year but have not seen it yet in my area this year. That said, I had the Sam Adam’s on tap about three weeks ago and found it absolutely disgusting. The others I have not had.
Hi Nate, love this channel and what you have created. I've been watching from the beginning and its amazing to see how many videos you have put out. Living in Melbourne Aus I like to try and use Au & NZ hops as much as possible. Galaxy can be very hit and miss for me and I try to avoid boiling it for instance. I watched your video where you compared Tassie & Vic galaxy in awe, I only wish we could try them here! Could you give some tips on what you would do differently when using the southern hemisphere hops and how to get the best out of them in an IPA? Keep up the great content!
I love your channel! Very interesting. Keep up the great work. The blind tasting are really interestng, especially from someone who is so knowledgeable.
Never Corona. First, it's almost always skunked because of the clear bottle. Second, it's just another American Style Light Lager (yellow light beer). Modelo... also clear bottle tends to skunk it unless it's stored in a cardboard box like a 12-pack.. or canned. But man I do love a Negra Modelo (I guess they changed it to Modelo Negra... whatever) - it's a legit example of a Vienna style lager (or Munich Dunkel) and it is stored in brown glass so mostly doesn't get skunked. Modelo Negra is a worthy brew! Brewers should seriously stop using clear and green glass unless it's packed in cardboard. Looking at you, nasty ass Heineken.
Man big L for Sam Summer . Wracking my brain, I feel like they changed the recipe 10 or so years ago and it just never quite tasted right. Totally different. Lost a lot of drinkers.
I know it wasn't part of the lineup but Allagash Surf House deserves an honorable mention. Nice little lager. Also, totally agree with the distaste for SA Summer Ale. They have really destroyed that beer over the years with the lemon; I remember it being a lot more subtle.
Nate is the consummate diplomat. Even when he doesn’t particularly like something, he doesn’t bang it and finds something positive to say. You’re a credit to the craft.
I used to drink so much Summerfest every year. Absolutely loved that beer. Haven't had it in years, but need to grab some again! I've found SN takes a backseat because it's been around so long and I forget about it. But then I'll randomly grab some off the shelf and instantly realize why they're still around and were so instrumental in the craft movement.
