Windows for Workgroups 3.11 is one in the 3 most loved OSes I have used. It was the first OS, that I used for the Internet between 1993/95. I did run it on a 486DX66 with 8 MB RAM and a 200 MB disk. I still have that 486, but I have no space for it. I use the 2nd best and more easy solution, I have WfW 3.11 in a Virtualbox VM. I run it with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 and a TCP/IP stack. It still works with the oldnet websites. It also have Novell Perfect Office installed with the graphical version of WordPerfect 6.1. Around that time I used WordPerfect 5.1 (DOS version) at work, like many many others.
Yeah, was my first Windows too. Got it on a Pentium 90 in 1994 or so. When Windows 95 came around i got it but never liked it. Sucked so much more hard disk space than Win 3.11.
Windows for Workgroups 3.11 is good, but my favorite operating system is Windows 98. Yes I have used Virtualbox VM, everything can be installed... but another thing is a real computer.. beautiful box, retro keyboard, hear the sound of the old hard drive. It's different...
@@tstechshaman Those boxes turned ugly yellow after all those years :( You hear the sound of the HDD, because arm movement was still somewhat primitive and besides the IDE throughput was really slow :(
@@bertnijhof5413 Yes, age does not forgive anyone. The hard drive is perfect. Such old hard drives, still produced from the factory, were so noisy.. I even have even older models HDD for example "SEAGATE ST-225 MFM 5.25'' 20MB" they make noise like a helicopter
Visually, this model of computer was widespread for a time. More or less the same box of the company DELL has released quite a few different models of computers with processors from Pentium I to Pentium 3. Iron machines, quite a few still work without a problem.
So this computer was made out of tiny particles (atoms up to 1 mm ø) in a time when dinosaurs was hosted as commedians. Computer is a type of machinery that's works with some electricy and runs on forever without electricy².
Yes, all my videos, even those with 4K resolution, are recorded with a smartphone. I've tried several phones, even newer models... so far the best one is the Samsung Galaxy S8 2017.. At 1:18 there is a sound from another phone, I just have two more phones in my pocket that I use for calls. I only use the Samsung Galaxy S8 2017 for are record my videos.
@@tstechshaman I give you some advice. If you are going to start recording a video, make sure you have the call and notification volume (aside from the general mobile volume, obviously) on mute. Why do I tell you? I came across some videos that were recorded with a mobile phone, and in the middle of playback the volume of calls and/or notifications was also recorded. I even recorded a video myself and in the middle of the recording you hear the notification tone that I had at the time. Conclusion? If you put it in mute mode, and you receive notifications and/or calls, the sound of the calls and/or notifications will not be heard after recording and when playing the video.
My XPS 210 (bought it in 2006) is up and running with Windows 10, changed processor to Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66GHz, Video Card 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030, Kingston 240GB SSD Drive, 8GB RAM, and it's working smoothly
There is no windows 95 logo at boot on this exact computer, there is a windows 95 logo at shutdown here at 1:51. The same computer absolutely - startup Win 95 but with a color monitor. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qKUFlJ8Sa1w.html Again no windows 95 logo. I assume that whoever installed windows 95 on this computer (not me) put some kind of cracked version. I've seen similar installed computers that show a different boot picture but are not genuine picture windows 95.
Yes, this computer is too weak for the requirements of Windows 11. I am pretty sure that even if I start a Windows 11 installation on this computer, it will not succeed.
it's not morse. This is a special signal that indicates a startup error. The signal with a certain number of beeps signals that the computer does not recognize the video card. It's just that a higher resolution EGA color monitor card is currently added to the computer, but a CGA monochrome monitor is connected. Originally, this computer was designed to work with a weak CGA video card. That's why it gives this signal. you can read more information here: extralives.wordpress.com/2013/09/30/graphics-from-the-past-cga-ega-and-vga/
😂There is no way such games can start, the processor of this computer is very modest for now, 8 Mhz! The processor is NEC V20. The monitor is also very low resolution, you can see more computer specs. here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QdHdExY5vnE.html
Yes you are absolutely right the memory is SDRAM. You are very observant. I made the same annoying mistake😮💨. In future introductions, I promise to be more careful🧐.. I fixed it in the description of the video, but there is no way to fix it in the video itself. Thank you for your comment

The only thing missing is that it came with a small conveyor belt, since having the option of programming the filling of the bottles until the end, leaving a pause to put another bottle and refill it, and so on, that would be a little bit more practical not taking the bottles by hand and out of sheer confusion you may spill some of the bottles by mistake.
This machine model is not suitable for use with a conveyor belt, it is designed for manual bottle placement. There are such machines that have a bottle sensor and have a conveyor belt control. Here is such a machine: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LcFRQ01xDqA.html
Yes, it is completely normal for such a performance of the cover for that time. But after the release of the IBM 5150 model, the cover is removed to the front off more retro computers.
Even though I already commented previously on this video, I forgot to comment on something else. But it has nothing to do with the monitor issue. 0:52: Was it normal for some PCs of the time to have that sliding cover that could only be seen on one side when you slid the cover, the CD reader area?
0:52: Yes, a very common implementation is a moving cover on old computers, even in more modern models are found, I don't know what the idea was for this... maybe some way of protection, here are some of them in my videos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5yvHjyRr88M.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K9PZqS2oM6Q.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MjceFCNPgOU.html
@@tstechshaman Only two videos on your channel show the sliding cover of the X computer before turning on. However, of the three video links on your channel, only one shows the sliding cover working; The other two links do not show the operation of the cover. From my point of view, it would be to show when you are going to open that cover, or when you are going to turn it on in case the start button was behind the cover, or when you are going to put in a CD of a game like This is the case of NFS Gameplay.
@@El_Transportacoches_33 Yes, that's right. Just being correct in the videos, I didn't think that the sliding of the covers itself would be interesting, from the point of view of my current experience, I appreciate that it would be interesting for the viewers. In the future, I will make videos with such boxes, by moving the cover
Oh! I thought you were going to use the printer as a demonstration when printing source code. But I see that you only lit it to make it look pretty, like decoration, so to speak.
I would definitely do a demonstration of how the printer works, but I don't have a connecting cable. It is a very strange performance, not standard, it need be original, but I can't find it anywhere anymore. I tried to make a standard one, but it didn't work.
0:20: Not a data phone 😂😂, just my brother's computer keyboard. It's just that while I'm shooting videos, I usually kick him out of the office, but he's very cocky and impatient to wait 4 minutes, so while I'm shooting, he's typing on the computer and his keyboard can be heard in the background🤔
0:42: Is it normal that when this type of computer starts up it sounds like a hand dryer? 2:08: Those beeps when you select something on the screen with your fingers (as is also done on mobile phones) will there be something similar on desktop PCs? I mean, just like there are the beeps for the special keys (Ctrl keys, Shift keys, etc.) and the numpad and caps lock keys, there will be the same thing but for when you select something with the mouse, or even when you use the keyboard as cursor controller?
0:42 the hard disk does not start, the noise is from the fan of processor. In this computer, the fan speed is regulated by the load. At maximum load, the fan turns on at maximum speed and makes a loud noise. I have noticed on branded computers such as IBM, HP, at initial start-up, the fan automatically turns on for a while at the highest speed and then the speed decreases significantly and goes away. I think some kind of test is being done from the motherboard for the condition of the fan. 2:08: Yes there are beeps for other various functions, key combination presses, etc. Somewhere in the setup of the Windows itself you can set and edit these sounds. This can be done on any desktop computer.
0:34: What the h3ll?! Is it me, or the start was very faster? Looks like that there was cutted between when appears the logo of OS and the take was resumed when appears the desktop.
Yes correctly I cut it there, you are very observant. I have cut it there because there the computer thinks for at least 3-4 minutes during which only the Windows logo is displayed on the screen. I think no one will watch the end of the video if they have to watch the same thing 3-4 minutes before..
It doesn't die, some old hard drives even when they left the factory for white quite noisy. And the hard discs before 1990 were brutally noisy, look at such a vintage disc: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H4x6-DV7HqE.html Outside of all this is my stats: my videos shot with noisy hard drives get 10x more views than those with quiet ones 🤭
I have many such crt monitors photographed in the channel. But for many reasons I avoid shooting video with them. Because in most cases, video defects such as flickering, glare from light sources, distortion of the image and others are obtained
Yes, it is retro. In their channel, there are more retro laptops with Windows 98, see here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L2EUF3VzJuY.html
