This is my famiilies home. It's been in our family for over 50 years. The inside of the home is spectacular! The architecture is amazing. There has been some remodeling done over the years but it still fits the style of the homes original design.

This guy has to do some more research. Rugby did not come out of Association Football. If anything it's the other way around.. According to the mythology William Webb Ellis is the one that first ran with the ball. This guy even agrees with that fact. The date attributed to him doing so is in the mid 1820s. A Wikipedia search of Association Football states that the first published rules of "Football" came from Rugby School in 1845. The same source states that The Football Association was not formed until 1863. That's a full 40 years after Webb Ellis ran with the ball and 20 years after Rugby School published the Laws of Rugby. So, explain to me how the chicken came before the egg.

They came from a common game that diverged. I covered it in other videos.

@@HistoryIlluminated Ok, that I will agree with. Why is it that so many insist that Rugby came from Soccer despite the facts that I presented?
@HistoryIlluminated
@HistoryIlluminated 10 месяцев назад
@rittherugger160 it's all about words. When someone says "football" they think modern soccer instead of the sport it derived from. They don't know about or factor in rule changes. Football 200 years ago was vastly different and unfamiliar.

born and raised in nola. im intrigued, nice work, will keep watching. actually one of my clients as a telecom sales exec back in the day was the marcello family on the westbank. crazy story, i didnt know who they were at the time, i got them on a cold call, walked in and signed em up...i did notice a few bullet holes at the main entrance and an incredible stash of luxury cars inside. the sales admin put in the order and her eyes got real big - do you know who this is?? i also got a plush office afterwards overlooking lake p.

Interesting! This was very close to the Gallatin strip, the most dangerous part of the city in the 1840s-50s. I don't believe the mafia was here yet, or even the Black Hand. Not too many Sicilians yet, either. More 1880s/90s. Black Hand mostly active here in the late 1890s-1910. Did not know about the Marine Hotel, though--look forward to watching more of your videos.
@HistoryIlluminated
@HistoryIlluminated Год назад
The book that I am finishing covers everything. The Sicilian Underworld was here a long time before it was taken over by the Mafia. Gallatin was vastly different than this spot. They might as well have been in two separate cities. One was secretive and foreign while the other was wild and open.

I look forward to following you as you delve deeper into the history of organized crime.

Are you positive that was Levee street? There was another street just a couple blocks downriver and a block closer to the river that runs adjacent to the two blocks of the French Market vendors that was notorious for shootings killings and gangs. Was pretty sure that was Levee street but I could easily be wrong. Also the Italian restaurant to the right of 122 is called “Franks” named for Frank Gagaliano whose family has strong ties to Marcelo. How did you miss that!
@HistoryIlluminated

Have a look for yourself. As far as Frank Gagaliano goes, that is not the subject of these videos. I have taken a break to write a book about it. When it comes out I will continue with the series. digitallibrary.tulane.edu/islandora/object/tulane%3Abook2

Great video.. but something of another mob-botched hit took place at that very street the projects stand on at e 107 st between 2nd and 3rd Aves. Before the projects were built, small tenement buildings stood, and in 1931 Vincent Coll attempted to kidnap another mobster Joey Rao and a shootout took place. Coll accidently shot a little boy playing out front named Michael Vengalli and killed him.

What band is playing in the background of this video because I like it 😂😂😂? But you're absolutely right, I was told the history of the ivy league by my teacher who went to Cornell and he took me up there with him and I thought it was cool! That Ivy League schools were formed around what is known now as American football. Not a lot of people know that they think it's just because they think they're smarter then everyone else which isn't primarily true... at least the perception wasn't at the time

In terms of the Castellano-Bilotti hit, there were 4 shooters coming down from the east side of the street, wearing Russian hats and trenchcoats. One shooter was positioned on the street opposite the Steakhouse. Sammy the Bull as driver, with John Gotti, orchestrated the hit and passed by , subsequently, making sure both Paulie and Tommy were dead...they then sped off. By the way, Sparks Steakhouse has impeccable food. Remember , as you're eating your bloody steak ,of the blood that was shed outside on the street back 36+ years ago..
