There's such a lack of data protection out there, that a shockingly high amount of identity theft cases happen because of leaks by store clerks/managers, selling information like social security and bank account numbers to the highest bidder, because on top of lack of data protection laws and the public scrutiny mechanisms for their enforcement, to track whatever happens with that information, Americans use credit cards like we use debit ones here at the other side of the pond for everyday purchases, and the process for anybody, even celebrities, to be allowed to extend credit cards to people and thus, gather their personal information as well, is insultingly easy and unregulated. In the end, it all depends on how short a leash you tie capitalism on.

This is a great video to watch when you need to get familiar with the GDPR and are new to the subject. I watched it a year ago, before my CIPP/E exam preparation. Very useful. It's hard to find good material to prepare you for the exam, but you can now also take a trial exam on cippexams.com.

Dictatorship in action. This new regulation is the most dangerous intervention in our lives and we dont understand the impact yet. Wait a few years and see who survives over the internet. Only multinational corporations can afford to pay 20 million dolar fines. What about a startup buiseness? what about political parties who try to influence voters with their voice over the internet? Making polls? having chat rooms? Who has the money to pay for these lackeys in suits who tell us that : NOW ITS SAFE. what a joke. the internet is not safe and itnever will be. But if you have money to pay a company managing this data then its ok. then you can have a voice. Even during watching this video tones of data of mine are being copied. just have ccleaner tell you. The only reason for this regulation is one: THE RING OF POWER. only masters may have it and their lackeys run to impose it to the peasants so that they may know who is the king. TWENTY MILLION DOLLAR FINE YOU PEASANTS. if you dare try to make a move over the internet. we will CRUSH YOU. thats all from me.

Majority of the educators in the US are familiar with the federal student data privacy laws such as the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) that is overseen by the United States Department of Education. Notably, modern education institutions are adopting advanced technologies like cloud service providers that help in managing homework assignments and education-related data. Additionally, in protecting student privacy rights in higher education, it will not only require you to understand the federal laws, but you will also need to know the relevant state privacy laws. Anyways, read the below. This might help. www.namasteui.com/data-privacy-laws-for-us-students/ -- Regards, Sourav Basak Namaste UI

It's EU showing it's ignorance. How the hell can cookies be considered private information? What if there's multiple users on the same computer..
@TheITService
@TheITService 7 лет назад
The current thinking is that any group of 7 or fewer people is considered "personally identifiable" - so an IP address which can be traced to a specific PC would count - that's designed specifically so that companies can't use the idea of "it was only identifiable to a household" as a get-out. This is in accord with general principles on handling statistics (see, for example www.hesa.ac.uk/about/regulation/data-protection/rounding-and-suppression-anonymise-statistics). So yes, a cookie would be considered personal data.
@ekkehardkrull7545

You didn't understand the approach. If there is only 1 user, the cookies say a lot. There must be a reason why a lot of males delete their browsing history if they share a computer.
@aymens1318
@aymens1318 3 года назад
A Cookie is a session Identifier mapping one-to-one to a single User connecting to a terminal with a specific UserID. A Cookie is in effect a respresentation of the User current Session state maintained at the client side of the transaction (the terminal used). It is by definition a PII IN THE CONTEXT of the said application.

At 42 minutes you'll find an opinion regarding impact of the GDPR on advertising / retargeting market and regarding the effective impact of profilling activity on individuals. good and straight forward presentation

A good condensed breakdown of the over all GDPR implications. Very useful first stop for the principles of the regulation. However, it is good practice that when presenting to a Q&A sessions; the presenter should repeat the question, otherwise the answer doesn't mean much. Definitely, worth a listen if you are giving out data; more power to the individual
