The end goal of this channel is to provide a gateway to getting more people to support the development of Lost Skies, in order to help Bossa and Humble games succeed in bringing back the glory of the game's predecessor, Worlds Adrift. My only hope at the moment is to help others both learn more about the game and its past, as well as show off its beauty.
To clarify, I am not a part of the developers for the game, just a dude who misses what could have been in Worlds Adrift, so I hope this stuff finds you well :)
Oh, and I also post other cool stuff on occasion, I hope you find it interesting :)
Free for all open world PvP was always a bad idea and a bad option. There are exactly TWO games in that specific genre that managed to survive: Rust and, inexplicably, ARK despite the scummy practices, shitty optimisation and constant fuckups. And neither of those have a particularly large playerbase. The thing with that style of PvP is that you're throwing players who just like exploring and building in with sweaty killers. Both of those two groups have ideas of what's fun that are mutually incompatible. The builders/explorers basically exist as something for the sweats to shoot, and that's only fun for the latter. There are ways to make the game fun for both camps, but no-rules anything goes sandbox is not it. You need limits and structures in place so the builders and explorers have room to do what they want, and keep the PvP relegated to specific zones that contain resources that are desirable for both parties to want to fight over. EVE Online basically had it figured out decades ago. That's what WA needed.
Its super smooth and some of the greatest animation ever in a game. This is incredible, cutting edge tech and will influence everything. Go home, sonny. Your mama is needing to tuck you in.
I’m not understanding where this 300K sales to break even / “$10,000,000” number comes from… what exactly is all that money going towards paying back? & How could you be in that much debt 🤔🤷♂️
Definitely replacing The Last Night in my must play list. It's crazy to see the devlog of the guy playing with the knobs--that looks super cool, I've never seen anyone play with an external device to manipulate materials and effects in real time. I certainly hope we see one of these games. Cloudpunk was cool, but it didn't scratch the itch The Last Night caused with me. Clearly these devs love Inside, one of my all time favorite games . Good luck to the devs. Both of these games look stunning.
This and Spirit of Samuria really are making 2.5 D look great and special! I've very much looking forward to Replaced, and just finished the Spirit of Samuria demo and equally exicted.
I don't think there's ever really been a game that I enjoyed more than Worlds Adrift. It managed to walk the very thin line between solo and mmo, and while it had pvp, it never felt like that was the focus or the point of it. Every encounter with another person was almost a storyline in itself, and depending on how threatening your ship looked, could range from paranoid to predatory. I certainly got ganked a few times, but that was absolutely the outlier. It almost felt like there was an unspoken agreement that if you wanted to attack someone's ship, you waited to find a ship that looked like it was closer to being matched with yours. I basically can't stand pvp, especially when losing comes with the risk of losing basically all of your stuff, but somehow WA made me completely accept pvp as a reality in the game, and even start to enjoy it. In the video you describe the people that feel wronged or angry about WA and those that are accepting of the new direction, and I think I'm both. I really, 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 loved WA, and it shutting down felt like getting gut punched while having the rug pulled out from under you, but Lost Skies not being built on a separate server, and the fact that you'll be able to run your own, gives me a little hope for what it could be.
I kinda doubt "The Last Night" is ever coming out at this point. Also I really want to know how the devs figure the game will cost 10 million to complete what they already worked on? If completion is that out of reach then it beggars the questions like why are they still working on it, or why don't they try to rescope the game to cost less and be more manageable, etc? Strikes me as odd is all.
this looks a lot like the last night which uses a very similar style but who knows when it will be released. well damn i shouldn't have commented before finishing the video
while I recognize the clickbait hustle, there isn’t a lot being done here that wasn’t first established by kentucky route zero in terms of presentation methods. which isn’t to say it won’t grab attention, it’s real polished, but these presentation techniques are extant for many years now.
Totally valid, I get what you mean in that it’s not the craziest video out there, however aside from that fact I do hope the video at least somewhat helps with sharing these games to more people, as it’s something I only recently came across but really felt like was such an awesome game concept
@@WAdriftthough there is another game that has done this, this video itself is very well written and made. And now I have a new game i'm willing to try thanks to you, rather than an unlovingly made AAA cashgrab.
