Pictures and video from my home machine shop & my daytime job in a repair shop. Videos on lathe operation, milling and drilling operations, and also tapping - just to mention some.
FYI, Anchor Lube WILL stain and etch, just like your old compound if you do not clean it off quickly. Especially cast iron. Do not get it on any machine ways (particularly lathe ways as they are more exposed). Do not leave any residue in tapped holes, especially blind holes that can sometimes be a pain to clean thoroughly. If any remains in threads, it can attack the bolt/threads and lead to seizing. I am unsure why it gets such good praise. Its the least pleasant tapping compound I have ever used in every aspect. Good ole Tap Magic Nano for ferrous materials, and Tap Magic Aluminum for non-ferrous materials serves much better.
How do you like the emco? I've been consideting replacing my bridgeport with a machine in better condition. The deckel ergonomics look much nicer and it seems more rigid, but I'd be concerned with the lack of flexibility in setups.
Hi. This is a Intos. Former TOS. Now emco got the production, and I don't know the quality. But back then it's very high quality. Same level as the 'famous' brands of tool room mills. - just way cheaper 😅 Where are you located? Compared to a Bridgeport, this is a way better mill. In every aspects. But it still lacks something that the BP can. But this offers a vertical table if the box table is removed. It then accepts allot of accessories or parts being mounted in that direction. This open up allot of new setups. With a tilt/swivel table, which lacks some rigidity, - you will have allot of possibilities with milling at certain angle though. I really like the control from the side.. but takes some times to getting used to. Afterwards, its just great. Hope this answers just a little. Feel free to ask more. If i can answer. Best regards
Gotta do what ya gotta do..... recently i wanted to hack up our Swift lathe to accommodate a chunky workpiece 🤷🏻♂️..... everyone on the machine shop looked at me like I just hit on their moms😂🤣😂🤣
Being a machinist was my calling in life and I’m so thankful there are veterans out there, willing to show their work to the world. I would watch these videos all day everyday , if life allowed that.
This could not come in a better time 😃. I am just about to switch from old my heidenhain to Aikron A30, i was going to order display and scales in august. Now i just have to order the display and adapter, thank you very much. They already have this on their webshop now 😃. And about your English, dont worry its fine, im from Sweden and i am very disappointed when you upload videos in danish, i dont understand a word in danish 😅. Dont get me wrong, i like your videos very much, but i always want them in english so i can understand what you say 👍. Imagine watching Stefan gotteswinter talk dutch in his videos, not so fun, but in english 110% fun and learning 😃. Keep up the good work! 💯💥
Thanks allot for your kind words. Please pay attention to your scales and model. Else give Aiken a mail and ask if it suits your scales. Just to be 100% sure Best regards
How much is the rpm and the distance between steady rest and the counterpoint? It works very well. On my machine occurs vibration when the distance is too much
@@lajospuskas3999 i can't remember exactly. But rpm is 350-450 ish, and its 1950mm in total length. Steady is 800~900mm if i recall correct. But yes vibration is always a issue on parts like this
