That purse looks a lot like a zippy bag from Sallie Tomato . I’ve changed the dimensions on the pattern to make it bigger. She has wonderful tutorials on RU-vid.love your sewing plans
I agree, Jen. We are spoiled Americans and tend to take for granted all that we are blessed with in this country. I am so incredibly grateful to be a citizen of the US, as well as to be a citizen of Heaven when the time comes. God is so good!!! We should give a heart-felt thanks to Him at least once a day for how blessed we truly are. You would really like The Chosen series. You get hooked right away. Modern day English with a bit of humor thrown in from time to time. Miracles Jesus performs were done incredibly well, especially when He walks on the water and calms the storm. Now, can't wait to see your final version of your Know Me dress. Are you going to make the dress first, then dip dye it? I assume that would be the best solution, but I've never known anyone to do this before. Would love to see a video of how you go about making this dress, start to finish. Have a very fun time with your daughter!!! You are very fortunate that your girls want and like to spend time with you. Happy sewing! 🥰 Dori
Happy 4th of Juky to all the US sewing friends. I arrived in New York JFK on the 5th, sadly missed Ll the celebrations. Looking forward to exploring New York City for a couple of weeks ❤
How exciting that you are headed to help Mia with the house! You will have so much fun. Wish I could be there!! You have alot of projects in the queue! I wont get any sewing done (again) because I’m headed to NY on Weds. hope to do lots of thrifting and fabric shopping. Arent we fortunate to live in the US and have all the comforts that we have available to us? I try to be thankful for that as often as I can. We are truly blessed. Have dun in Georgia! Give Mia my hugs!!!❤❤❤ love you!!
Love your little bit of Jesus at the end. One of our neighbors also put on a pretty decent fireworks show. So relaxing to just sit out on my swing with a cold drink & watch them. Have a great time with your daughter.
Jen, I just love your hair. I had mine in a pale lavender that had returned to white. Last weekend I had my youngest day Daughterhelp me “purpalize” my hair s again. Unfortunately I had not bought what I had the first time. I now have black cherry hair, heavy to the black! It is both dark and bright! I am horrified. At 74 it is not a good look on me and is not shading out with washing. Yikes! I got a ton of complements on the lavender. The black cherry? Not so much. Sigh. The best laid plans and all that.
To be thankfull each day for what I have as I don't know what tomorrow will bring. Thank you Jen for bringing us a little bit of your life that I find so inspiring. Love all of your Laura Ashley patterns ☺
Jen, when you showed the two dress patterns of different eras but basically same dress, I was reminded of a college teacher I had once. She told us she never threw out anything because eras recycle back around, just maybe slightly different look. I really don’t want to see certain looks again from later 90’s - early 2000’s. I’m in Nashville, so visited a Joann’s. Apparently they have an unannounced pattern sale. I have no idea which ones are on sale. I purchased a Butterick, so I know they’re on sale.
I enjoyed seeing your makes. I believe an aqua top would look fabulous with the pants. I love, love, love the pants. Thank you for sharing. I also loved seeing the dolphins. I have only been on one sunset cruise before, but I want to go on another one in the near future.😊
Hi Jen, I went to Joannes yesterday with a list of 20 patterns. I found two. The drawers were not well stocked. They had NO 😕new patterns. I’m gonna try another one on Sunday. Wish me luck. Happy fourth.🎇🎆
I LOVE the diagonal striped dress. It looks so good on you. I also love the border print pants WITH the neutral top. I disagree with you about how you look in that tan/beige color. Your skin has enough color to wear that color beautifully. And those pants fit like a dream. Great outfit. I also like your seersucker dress but if you are not pleased, I understand. And of course, the pink floral is fantastic. Yay, Jen!
Jen I disagree about the tan shirt not looking good with your coloring. I think it is really pretty on you! It compliments your hair too. Gorl you cranked out the cute makes this week! You look great in EVERYTHING!!! Oh to have those long legs!!!! Keep cranking out the cute clothes!!!’❤❤. Hugs galore!
Ok you talked me into it! Im gonna cha-cha over to Joans and pick up a few patterns. 1.99 may not keep happening in the future. That Hawaii fabric is FABULOUS! I cant believe how cheap it was! Jen, I really want you to make that swirly skirt and wear it with one of your cute vests. I think that would be amazing! I am always amazed how you like patterns with lots of structure. Gotta give you RESPECT for that. You know I am a lazy sewist so Im always looking for easy stuff. 😅 Have a fun week sewing. I am headed off to do justice, have mercy, & walk humbly with my God.🎉 love you so much❤
Oh I can see your girls in that swirly skirt and that cargo pocket skirt has your name all over it! Can't believe all the patterns are $1.99 at the moment, let's hope they repeat that for when I'm over there in Sept. You know the perfect person to dip dye that fabric and she is only down the road now 👏🏼❤️. Can't wait to see the results. Thanks for sharing
Loved seeing all your makes Jen. Also, thank you for the devotion time. May we do whatever it takes. Happy Birthday to your husband. The fireworks were just for him. ❤ Diann
Nice pattern haul, Jen! Can't wait to see your dip-dyed fabric make. I have that same Know Me pattern and bought it for the same reason you did. Will eventually make it up. It's currently boxed up with all my other patterns and fabric. Got my house sold and will be moving to FL (Palm Bay) in 6 weeks. YAY! Your bible verse from the book of Micah was mentioned the other evening in the Season 4 finale episode of The Chosen. Was wondering if you were watching the series also. Have a great time sewing this week. Blessings galore! Dori (P.S. What an absolute pain it is to pack up a sewing/craft room!!!)
Yay! Yay for moving to Palm Bay soon! I haven't caught up on The Chosen, I need to do that. I never watch tv. And oh man, a serious pain to pack up a sewing room! We are both here to testify! xox
Love the fabric and you got some really great looking patterns. I usually go to my thrift stores to get sheets for doing my muslins. So I went a couple of days ago and I got a couple of sheets for doing the muslins. Then I hit the jackpot. They had 2 sheets that were awesome. One was a floral with maroon, lighter pink, blue flowers with olive green leaves and vines. The other sheet was a light orange & white geometric design. The floral will definitely be a dress. The orange probably a top with some type of pants. Even the cashier said “ I hope you’re planning on making a dress out of this floral. The orange geometric sheet was $2.99 and the floral was$3.99. I couldn’t wait to tell you about my thrift store find. Have a happy holiday.
I made that swirly skirt back in the 70’s too. I live less than2 hours from the USA border so thinking about a road trip in the next couple of days….. Joann no longer shipstoCanada but I have friends who would shop for me if I could stop dithering.
