The Palladium was a great hotel in a great neighbourhood and view from the 10th floor in Montevideo at omly $60 a night with free breakfast buffet and very friendly staff. Some spoke very good English. Staying with that old man does not compare in the least.
Looks like an excellent experience for Americans in Saudi airports. No dirty looks from immigration, no interrogation by TSA, wi-fi (once you figure out that you need to Accept T&C on the browser)...

I also did a 7 hour layover in Jeddah. Mines was just a month ago. August 31, 2019. From Addis Ababa to london via Jeddah. And yes the Saudi airplanes got good entertainment.
