That Beetle was not maintained well. Any car is going to be in that condition without maintenance, especially after so many years. I would have no problem taking a Beetle in that condition and bringing it back to what it should be. I can do some of the work myself, and I have an awesome mechanic who can do what I can't.
I have noticed when watching guys of a certain age , have a problem when driving a car of actually holding the steering wheel they cannot talk without windmilling both arms at the same time , or look like their sat on their hands . Makes me cringe watching 😢
Check if it’s on the original DRC suspension, this will need repair at some stage as the shocks and hydraulic lines fail, it’s a very expensive system to maintain. Most cars end up on coilovers or different shocks because they are more reliable and cost less. Check if the oil cooler pipes are leaking at the join of the oil cooler, these will fail over time as the pipe corrodes with the oil cooler so will need to be replaced. A new oil cooler is usually the solution but the original can be saved if the garage knows what they are doing. New pipes are needed though. Check brake condition, new rotors are expensive. Check when it last had a carbon clean, should be done every 40k miles or so if it’s going to be making good power. Check clutch condition, again expensive job if it needs one. This are the main big jobs to check when viewing and negotiate if it needs any of those doing soon as all will be fairly pricey. Find a good garage and budget about £2k a year general maintenance to keep it in good condition

I have a 2008 convertible has 64,000 miles on it and I love it besides Volkswagens aren't smooth running card especially the older models it's 16 years old and your not walking
It was injector 4 that the injector was on. The aa guy told you they were the opposite round. Cyl 1 is on the right on these engines and cyl 4 is on the left, you found out in the end tho
I grew up with Range Rovers and that's something to say because I'm German. Our first was the original 2dr which took a lot of convincing behalf of a 12 year old. The next was the 4dr manual followed by the 4dr automatic. Both were brilliant. The manual was unreal doing 180km/h easily while consumption could be as low as 12l/100km. The final Vogue was not quite what it promised.
Although the m3 is a beautiful car and if you can afford it no doubt just grab it , but for the average person even a car guy I have to go with the 330. I do own one so i am being biased but at the end of the day e46m3 a actually good one goes for $20k at the dealership all day long. we all have seen the situations where they sell for crazy ridiculous numbers even in 6 digits while the 330 remains at a humble price , has great reliability , endless mods available etc. literally can buy a good condition 330 for $3k even less I got mine for $2k with 120,000 on the clock engine has ran perfect since I got it and just if I were to add $3k even less in mods to what I already paid not only can I have the m3 look (bumper kits on ebay , fenders for sell) but also be much faster than a m3 with a turbo kit for still no where close to what u would simply pay just to own a good spec m3. if you can afford the m3 do yo thang its a blessing to be able to own a //M but for all the drivers weather u need a daily , a project car , a drift car , a race car , a track car those e46 330/325 trims will never let you down and always can find at good prices. those prices will increase though
We have a bright blue one 2017 as a runaround and to teach my children to drive in and it is surprisingly good. A bit noisy compared to our big cars but otherwise excellent. No parking sensors and the seats could be better.
I always laugh at the s50 and m50 engine naming. Seems silly the Standard model cars got M50 engines while the M model cars got the S50 engines. Figure they'd name the Standard model engine S50 and name the M model engine M50 🤷♂️
I bought a set of OEM wheels on Civic 9th gen, they came with these tires, brand new, 225/45R17. What a POS tire : poor steer-in respons, easily pushed to max of grip and they cup like crazy within 15000km and am left with a noisy ride. Car was 4 wheel aligned after installing the new set of wheels. Getting Michelin Pilot Sport next time, twice the money four times the joy, if not eight. PS all season V shaped profile Michelin is also POS. I had the Michelin PS4 on my Clio 197 with OEM wheels and they rocked!
If only Land Rover had kept on copying Jeep Beyond just the original series they would have had some really awesome Vehicles right now that don't need to show off on super easy muddy conditions or you don't pop tires and you don't get cross axles or steep Rocky climbs. All of this stuff is tailor-made just to make the Range Rover look good off road. Yeah it might do pretty well for how luxurious it is but all of the Land Rover models are a far cry from what they could have been if they were truly serious about off-roading still like a Jeep Rubicon or a Bronco or a Grenadier I mean is it that much to ask for solid axles and twin lockers? LOL just basic things. Pretty much every Land Rover is the same now with different body the underpinnings are almost identical
