as an artist of multiple different mediums (drawing, pixelart, music (guitar and chiptune covers)) i tend to shift focus between these periodically, and sometimes i'll think that i should've been better already at one thing. but if i look at the bigger picture i immediately stop feeling bad about it it doesn't even have to be a hobby either !! you might not be the artist you wanna be right now but you're probably ahead in some other life skill like being social, studying, discipline, planning etc. this is why you have to look at the bigger picture
for example, i haven't improved in drawing as much as i would've liked to this year, but i've been getting better at writing lyrics and also my social anxiety is WAYY easier to deal with now
I stopped making “art” a long time ago because I was always unhappy and unsatisfied since I never saw any real progress or being good enough. But I took some time off, and I think I’m ready to get back in it, even if it ends up just being a hobby. It feels good to see that the “failure” feeling isn’t exclusive to me.
I've noticed a lot of artists are moving to bsky or known as bluesky, getting away from Twitter. There seems to be more control on content, which is excellent.
i’ve seen many also moving to indieweb type places, like art focused mastodon instances, and neocities, etc. there is just such a different vibe to spaces operating without the underlayer of venture capital “profit” extraction.
@@JogaLuce i think its so fun because indieweb places narrows down ur space and sometimes u meet the coolest ppl! i especially loved forum sites, because its usually just a bunch of threads dedicated to what u want to read and u dont have to worry about a bunch of content being thrown at you. and also sites like neocities give me so much nostalgia because people make creative sites, i miss when u can customize ur profile to make it unique to u D:
random youtube recommendations gave me peak i shall do the subscribing and the hitting the bell and the smashing of like buttons and follow along your art journey 2:46 as for names i'm bad with coming up names myself but i have a list of names i haven't used in my own journey to find names for my own characters Ellen Lumina Shelli Novella Linea i mean these are all scrapped names/names im still considering (because i've been looking for a name for so long and can't find a good one) for one character so they're all pretty similar-ish
welcome to the hamster world!! tysm! those are wonderful names, i especially love lumina :0 i feel bad for using them bc i want you to be able to find the perfect name for your character!! lol ;o;
3:17 lazy? What in the world are you talking about? I know you have the artist's curse. (The curse of that every artist. When looking at their own art they fixate and over analyze and nickpick their art. While when they see other people's art they get jealous or something. And when other people see your art they're like "AMAZING!" ) but still make sure to compare your art with you're past art.
I don't think you're lazy. Idk if you're diagnosed with ADHD or not but. Either way. It might be do to burnout. And the feeling of things being overwhelming. Learning (at least to me ) is like looking at a pile of a mess in my room and really don't want to do it because it will take time and it's tedious. So yeah. I'm learning how to be more resilient.
AAAAAAAA THIS IS SO COOL!!!! I dig the contrast that you're going for, especially in the sketches you've shown. Good luck with what you're making, it looks so tasty 🌠🌠🌠🌟
I have a snake named Phoenix and a rabbit named Stella. Phoenix is very curious and LOVES climbing, and Stella is very territorial despite being female. They’re both old, and I know I’ll lose them soon, but I am happy that they’ve had good long lives. Stella is 10! That is practically a fossil for a rabbit!
