Hi - it should all be there for trucks that are pre-wired as well as trucks that are not. Please let me know if I can provide any more technical support. Thank you!
Great video, I have a 2018 E450 stripped chassis Winnebago Aspect 27K RV that I would like to add these grille lights to. Do you have a similar solution for the E450 wiring connections? My rig does not have DRL and I would like to have the grille lights come on when the ignition switch is in the "on" position so these grille lights will act like DRL. Thank you!
Hi David - Thanks for reaching out. I am afraid we don't have anything for halogen headlights that would provide power with ignition. We will have a parking light adapter available for these headlights soon, but it will only power on with the parking lights (basically anytime the headlights are on). If that would work, please feel free to reach back out soon!
Hi Mauro - it depends on the truck/ configuration. The other issue is that Ford has had some issues with the that particular junction on the 2017-2019 Super Duty and for that reason, we didnt recommend connecting. That said if you wanted to give it a try, we do have a plug-n-play option and it would technically work on your 2019 if you are pre-wired and don't have the aformentioned issues. Please reach out to tech support if you need more information. Thank you! starkey-products.com/products/ford-super-duty-oem-style-bed-lighting-kit-2020-2022?_pos=1&_sid=7a7364973&_ss=r&variant=43127029530724
Hi - We do have extensions that plug into the bed lights (both OEM and aftermarket), but the other connector side is designed to plug into our main power harness and will not connect to any factory wiring. You can see that product at the link below: starkey-products.com/products/ford-f-series-power-extension-for-bed-lights-2015?_pos=1&_sid=8868a23b9&_ss=r
I can't speak to the overall seal of the factory components, but we did test this extensively to make sure it wouldnt become a leak point with our cable running through. The vents open every time the cab doors are closed, so the risk of leak doesnt end up being any higher if a small cable runs through one of the flaps. That being said, there is a small grommet in the back of the cab below the vent that can be used if customers want to use another path. Its a bit tougher to get to and a little lower down than the vent.
If I install the Starkey Raptor grill lights for a 2019 F150 do I need to ground the negative wire and then plug into the plug and play adapter? Also, do I connect the adapter to the marker light so the raptor grill lights go on with the marker lights?
Hi Ben - That is correct - we recommend using the ring terminal attached to the Raptor grille light bar to attach to ground. Then, you'll just plug the power lead from the light bar into the red wire on the parking light adapter. Yes - the parking light adapter will be plugged inline to the factory harness on the headlight. Please let us know if you have any other questions! Thank you!
Hi - you definitely can do it. We have a kit for the swap - please see the link below for more information. www.starkey-products.com/mustang-gt-led-fog-lights-conversion-kit-v6-gtcs-2013
My dad has a 2021 Extended Cab STX with the 2.7 For a new truck, it looks great, and is pretty utilitarian. Has no problem hauling heavy weight in the bed. I personally think these STX 14th gens are the best looking F-series truck since the 92-97 OBS. I like the STX because it's not loaded with tons of pointless features and comforts like the higher trims, but it still looks really good and is a comfortable and capable vehicle
Agreed - they are a great value and perfect mix of features for most. Also a great all-around work truck! The refreshed 2024 F150's are starting to hit dealer lots, it will be interesting to see how those are optioned from the factory and how quickly they sell.
Hi - The switch adds a couple layers of complexity and cost to the system. We found that most did not want the extra complexity or requirement to visit the dealer. Our kit will come on anytime you unlock with your keyfob (or on approach if equipped), and they can also be turned on for up to 10 minutes with the cargo light switch on the cab. Thank you!
Hi Joe - Yes it does for the 2015-2020 F150. You can also optionally request the 5007DUAL adapters when you order the underbody lighting kit which swaps the Y-Adapter for a 5007DUAL splitters (if you already have our bed lighting kit with Y-Adapter). www.starkey-products.com/wiring-adapters-deutsch-receptacle-to-dual-plug
We opted to design this kit without the factory on/off button. This was due to significantly higher costs and a requirement for the customer to visit the dealership for re-programming. These lights can be operated with the cargo light button located on the headlight switch. They also come on anytime the truck is unlocked or a door is opened. Thank you!
Hi - currently our best option for the 2021+ is kit SKU# 4781 which you can watch an installation video for here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mSihbHaOjcE.html
Hi - Yes that is correct. Basically, they will come on anytime the headlights come on through normal (automatic) operation, OR when you turn your knob to the parking lights position which turns on all marker lights/ tail lights.
Hi - the short answer is yes. The long answer is, modification may be required - most trucks that have factory bed lights have a black connector in place of the normal Khaki-colored connector. Please take a look at page 1 of the instruction manual - it includes information on how to modify the adapter to work properly. I am linking to it below in case you don't have it. Thank you! www.starkey-products.com/media/fseries/4580%20-%202015-2020%20Ford%20F150%20Bed%20Lighting%20Kit/4580-4780%20-%20Instructions.pdf
I regret not getting my Ford XL, but I need manual. No big trucks offer manual anymore. I must have manual! Even though the Ford XL has most thing I want for a base truck.
Hi - that sounds like normal daytime operation. These lights are attached to the parking lights circuit which is powered anytime the headlights are on. During the day in most cases, they will be off. They should come on anytime the headlights are on. If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know! Thank you!
I installed these on my 2019 F150 Limited. I had to modify the plugs on the T-adapter. The grooves on the sides didn't line up. I shaved the grooves down and it plugged right in. Did the same thing to the plug coming from the truck. Lights are pretty bright.
Thank you for your business and explanation of that issue! This can happen on certain higher trims such as the Lariat and Limited. We do have some instructions on what to do in the installation manual - I will link below for anybody that needs it. www.starkey-products.com/media/fseries/4570%20-%202015-2020%20F150%20Underbody%20Lighting%20Kit/4570-4670%20-%20Instructions.pdf
Hi - Yes we do, it is at the link below. Installation is a bit different in terms of the wiring, but the rail and light installation is identical. www.starkey-products.com/ford-f150-underbody-courtesy-puddle-lights-2021
Hi - You will need to check the C431 connector below your tailgate. This is shown in the video and also there is a picture and instructions found in our installation manual (link below). www.starkey-products.com/media/fseries/4580%20-%202015-2020%20Ford%20F150%20Bed%20Lighting%20Kit/4580-4780%20-%20Instructions.pdf On at least one the plugs, the following wires should be present: 2015-2017 = Pin #6 (Black with Yellow Stripe) and Pin #7 (Purple) - Please note, there is a Brown wire with Purple stripe that looks similar. 2018-2020 = Pin #6 (Black with Yellow Stripe) and Pin #7 (White with Green Stripe) - Please note, there are TWO White with Green wires. You must have BOTH. If they are not, you will also need Starkey 4572 Power Extension Wiring.
Hi - You have 1 of 2 options. Option 1: Connect the 2nd T-Connector (daisy chain, so to speak). There is nothing wrong with this but it does create a little bulk under the tailgate area. Option 2 is that in lieu of the T-Adapter, we can send you our 5007DUAL (link below). This allows you to connect up to 4 lights to 2 connections from the T-Adapter. www.starkey-products.com/wiring-adapters-deutsch-receptacle-to-dual-plug If you have any other questions please reply to this or feel free to reach out to our technical support team. Thank you!
Is there a way to install these to stay on while driving? Would you have to wire them to a switch? Or is there a certain wire to tap in to make them stay on
You could, but they are fairly bright so that is a consideration you want to think about for safety reasons. You would need to locate a circuit that operates during the times you prefer.
Just curious, do these not stay lit while driving ? I thought it was an underbody glow while driving. But it looks like it only works when opening the door or unlocking. So is the point of this to only temporarily illuminate the ground? My truck came with the 360 zone lights. Is there a kit or way to make them stay on while driving ?
Hi - No they do not stay on while driving. They illuminate so that you can see when you approach/ get into the truck, and then fade-to-off when the truck starts. You could wire them to a circuit that is on anytime the parking lights or headlights are on for the function you are looking for, but it would no longer be plug-n-play. You could tie them to the 360 degree zone lights so you could toggle them on/ off with that system.
Hi - I am afraid not. The F150 uses a 16-pin connector. We do have a parking light adapter for that truck. You would splice into the turn signal wire, at least this way you don't have to cut into your factory wiring. www.starkey-products.com/Ford-F-Series-Parking-Lights-Adapter-LED-Headlights-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019 If you need technical support for which wire to splice into please email tech@starkey-products.com Thank you!
Hi Omar - Unfortunately no option for the switch at this time from us. Early on (we have a product that fits the 2015-2020 F150 as well) we found the majority of customers don't want the extra complication of the installation or expense. If you want it to truly operate like factory, installing the switch actually requires you to run wiring to the front of the truck (further than we do). Additionally, a trip to the dealership for reprogramming of the BCM is required for OEM functionality. This is how Ford does it in their 2015-2020 kit. They do not currently have a 2021-2023 kit available but may have something for you soon. Thanks for your inquiry.
Just installed the 2023 F150 bed light kit. Install was exactly as described. What took the longest was creeping around under the truck strategically zip tying the wire out of the way. Lights are fantastic. Video was great!
Just purchased for my 2023 F150 Lariat. Video doesn’t show having to disconnect the negative battery cable but written instructions do. Is it necessary to disconnect the negative cable? Thanks
Thanks for reaching out. We recommend it anytime you are working on the electrical of the vehicle, but it is not necessary for this particular product. I apologize for the confusion.
Great review 👍 How would you know if I don't need extra wire install? I have xlt 4x4 with tow package already so does that mean I don't need extra wiring?
Thank you! Its hard to say - there is a 50/50 chance you are pre-wired. The only sure-fire way to know you are pre-wired is if you have the Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature which includes a small LED light next to your tailgate handle. If you have that, you are definitely pre-wired. If not, you'll need to follow the steps below to determine if you are pre-wired: To determine if your truck is pre-wired, check the C431 inline connector shown at time stamp 2:39. On at least one the plugs, the following wires should be present: 2015-2017 = Pin #6 (Black with Yellow Stripe) and Pin #7 (Purple) - Please note, there is a Brown wire with Purple stripe that looks similar. 2018-2020 = Pin #6 (Black with Yellow Stripe) and Pin #7 (White with Green Stripe) - Please note, there are TWO White with Green wires. You must have BOTH.
Ordered front footwell lights for my 2016 f150. They work great pretty east install except for the wire taps. They were both too big didn’t get a good connection….. used different tap connector I had for smaller gauge. Looks great 👍
Hi Michael - thanks for the feedback. We include a few in the bag - the blue ones are for 2009-2014 trucks, and the red ones are for the 2015+. That may be the issue. Thanks for letting us know, I will make sure we check the sizes provided to ensure a good fit.
I bought this for my 2017 f250. Installed it and it worked for a while. Now my cargo lamp nor my bed lights work. Any ideas? The 3rd brake light works but not the cargo lamp. I reread the instructions and it says do not cut the wire with the aupplied wire tap. I can't imagine that happened as it worked for a while initially. Otherwise I have no idea.
I read your claim of compatibility with the F-150 Lightning, but it has me scratching my head. So, after routing the wiring harness through the pass-through, where does it go? There is a huge battery pack and acres of steel skid plates and plastic side shielding; neither is present in an ICE F-150. How would I snag the end of the harness, and what safe and accessible route exists to take the harness to the rear of the truck?
Hey Ralph - Both trucks (Lightning/ Gas) share the same frame, so the wiring routing is the same for either. We show running it along the passenger side frame rail which runs all the way to the truck's rear. The batteries are nestled between the rails, so they do not get in the way of running the wiring. We have many Lightning owners successfully install the kit.
