After the ending of Chapter 2, the question of who or what Ralsei is kind of became a little bit clearer to me. Go with me on this, what if Kris made Ralsei in the absence of Asriel? Think about it, most of the time Ralsei mainly interacts with Kris in the dark world plus there is no physical item that could represent him in the Light World (ie Lancer and Roulx being playing cards in your inventory). That could be how Ralsei followed Kris and Susie to the other Dark World and how he knows that Kris and Susie are the heroes of the story.
I know who they will be!!! In Undertale’s genocide the last 3 characters we fight are Miss Muffet, Mettaton Neo and Sans. The Bossess we fight in Deltarune first are Jevil who looks like Sans and Spamton who looks like Mettaton Neo. This only means one thing Miss Muffet has to be the secret boss for Chapter 3. Maybe she’s in a TV show because the TV in Kris’ house is old and maybe has spiders in there???
heres a weird take but i feel like the whole thing aout needing the shadow mantle for future secret bosses is a load of bs. i think its leading up to us surprising seam by getting all the shadow crystals without ever using it i could be very wrong but its fun to think about
Overall, very interesting analysis video! Thanks for uploading! 4:53 This brings to mind an interesting avenue. He says he doesn't have any subjects. But royalty's family are not their subjects. If he is The Prince From The Dark, could there be a King, Queen or Princess from The Dark? A Duke or Duchess, perhaps? Also, I do wonder about his actions, abilities, & motives. Making things for guests you may never get suggests loneliness. Other than the doorway that remains inaccessible to Kris & company, though.... Scenes like the 1 near the end of Queen's Mansion makes me wonder if Ralsei knows when the SOUL is watching. & if he blushes when in contact with the SOUL, does that mean he can sense it? Awareness of what it's doing? Being alone, to rule a kingdom that was either abandoned or wiped out & memorize a legend you may not even be certain will occur in your lifetime.... It's a heavy burden. Does he not carry bitterness or resentment for these burdens? Why does Ralsei know these things, & why did he choose to do these things? Did someone else teach them to him?
bro something i noticed i short while ago is that everyone assumed the knife kris pulled out at the end of chapter 1 was a "kris" (a twisted knife so to speak)... it's pixel art (8 to 16 bits i think), a straight object like a stick, a knife or a broadsword will look twisted or ladder like if it's shown diagonally, just because it looks like that doesn't mean it is that (damn we were paranoid back then... or are we still like that? idk)

oh my god it's going to be the landline phone. in chap 1 if you go to use it you are told that you already have a cell phone. if you try and call the home phone the calls go both to the landline AND to toriel's cellphone (as evidence if you call her with the trash ball on your head) if the landline vanished i dont think anyone would notice nor care
Speaking of Undertale AUs, I find it nostalgic that Undertale Yellow is also getting AU treatment (so far I’ve seen Underfell Yellow, some Outertale Yellow, a lot of Deltarune and Deltatraveler Yellow, and the development of Underswap Yellow)
if i were to guess i would probably go for control as well but from the opposite side, aka a broadcast console. I think with the way the bosses have been structured around how they deal with their lack of freedom, a boss that has the power to control everyone else seems due.
Its Raining Somewhere Else is my fav track from the ost. I would sleep to this and never get tired of listening to it. I have always been curious about sans, curious about who he really is and what he's really like. Thx for the vid i enjoyed listening to you talk. 💙
DO THEY feel like it's a video game? Like it isn't serious? I guess maybe the dark worlds are so fantastical that they don't feel real. Susie treats Ralsei like a real person.
1:44 I love this point and it explains literally everything about my favorite theories across communities! I'm in a lot of theory communities and my favorite theories tend to be the ones that make sense thematically and personally- if it doesn't make sense for the characters, I generally won't like a theory. For example, in Genshin Impact, my least favorite theory is that Paimon is going to betray us at the end of the game. That's because it wouldn't make sense for a character who has repeatedly done her best to be kind to us and even calls herself our god of protection to just switch sides like that. In FNaF, my favorite theory is that Cassidy and CC are the same person. The spirit in Golden Freddy is just a kid named Cassidy Afton. I listened to someone discuss this recently and it makes the most sense by far! In Deltarune, I'd have to say that my favorite theory at the moment is Noelle Angel theory, with Alvin Knight coming in at a close second because that one makes me giggle. Enjoy theories based on what you think fits canon best, is what I'm trying to say. We're here to have fun after all!
What about asriels book of hymns? Its just sitting there next to the couch and i doubt its been used in a while since asriel is at college. We've barely heard much about what the dreemurr's relationship with religion is, other than it doesn't seem like kris is a church kind of person, alvin mentions kris only went so they could drink fruit punch, and we know kris has dabbled in the occult according to catti. I dunno! We'll see hehe. Wait okok i just finished writing this but i remembered something that gives evidence to it being the flowers/flowey related. The traffic jam in chapter 2 thats caused by the annoying dog (remember the dog was in the computer lab in chapter 1, hinting at chapter 2), the car honk ambience has multiple motifs in it: (in order) your best friend, spear of justice, and metal crusher. I feel we can safely assume undyne will be there, toriel called the cops after all. im not super sure about mettaton, but i think considering we had spamton neo in chapter 2, and that mettaton is a tv star in undertale, i feel like this is the most fitting chapter to meet him in. And then flowey! Uh, yeah! I don't really have much to say about that one other than (points to flowers in trash can) On a semi separate note, theres also the secret room in chapter 2 where the annoying dog runs you over in a car, so i plan on checking that area out again once chapter 3/4 come out to see if anything gets added. EDIT: i remembered something else about flowey i recently realized that ties in to his possible appearance in chapter 3, but i think there could be more interesting implications abt the discovery tbh. So, im working on making a flow chart of sorts regarding the themes/everything relating back to gaster, and upon considering any possible links flowey has, i realized he shares a lot of thematic similarities between ralsei and the 2 secret bosses we already have. All characters who break the 4th wall have some sort of connection to gaster in some way. Spamton and jevil are no brainers, they clearly have 4th wall breaking knowledge and clear ties to gaster. Ralsei has knowledge about the UI/controls and the player. The puzzle in chapter 1 where you have to push boxes to open the fence gate, ralsei says to "push the box with [Z]!" And susie asks "who the hell is Z??" Ralsei also names castle town after you, the player. The only other characters that mention your name are gaster when you name yourself, and a rudin who welcomes "you to [yourname]town, or so i've heard its called" in which ralsei probably told them. As for the ties to gaster, there isnt really any super solid evidence yet other than the name thing, its mostly speculation but some things that lead me to this conclusion is his river person cloak at the start (river person has dialogue about "the man who speaks in hands", and both snowdin river person stops have important fun value events, the wrong number song, and the sound test), his strange traveling abilities, his unique extensive knowledge about the legend, and he's likely the prince of the dark from the legend. Noelle also has gaster relations, her game breaking abilities, everything in the spamton sweepstakes frankly, and snowy characteristics (snow is frozen water, water (and ice to a lesser extent) is commonly associated/paired with the depths and darkness/gaster info. Note the river person fun event locations, ice-e word search fun event, the fun events in waterfall (mystery man is a big one), onionsan, and more) And sans and papyrus (who are the last i'll mention, but there are more), they live in snowdin, miraculously appeared one day, have strange unique abilities (sans' shortcuts, papyrus flying over you after battling), fonts, gaster blasters, and the two biggest constant smiles with the most to hide behind them, especially for sans. Smiles. They are ALso often associated with gaster, i'll direct you to HalfBreafChaos's video "Why are smiles gasters motif?" Now, flowey has the other biggest false smile in undertale aside from the bone brothers, its arguable to be the biggest one if you consider all he's done. Flowey also has vast knowledge about the 4th wall and so much more. Theres the true lab connections.. Plus, a lot of gaster related characters have also been really hurt/traumatized in some way (often in a gaster/darkness related incident) and/or become completely isolated for a long period. Flowey is isolated and traumatized to horrific lengths!! But like how and why. How did flowey gaster. Yknow i don't have a concrete reason. but! another character with a giant fucking false smile is chara. Now. We don't have solid evidence connecting chara to gaster, closest thing we have is anecdotal evidence and the thing about the vessel we made being discarded. But asriel was really close with chara, REALLY close, they even died together. Theres also the theory that gaster wrote half of the lab entries, including the ones that talk about the injecting the flowers with DT. If you wish to take that into account, that also gives flowey an incredibly direct connection to gaster. So. Yknow. Thats the shtick. I feel like gaster is thematically equivalent to a force of nature of sorts, specifically one that is responsible for trauma, isolation, and deep dark spirals that can only be overcome with the help of other people.
2 other similarities between Jevil and Spamton that people tend to overlook: They both use all caps for normal speech. They each have a unique way to talk (Jevil rhymes words and repeats words at the end of sentences, sentences! While Spamton uses [random commercials!] )
I fully and wholeheartedly agree that at the end of the day Ralsei is not evil! And on the topic of him being a character "within a game within a game" its funny because i never saw him like that until a few days ago when i was pondering deltarune stuff as one does, and i realized how "video gamey" he is, and now whenever i think about what he does it feels VERY video gamey and i dont know how i missed it 😭😭 Also 11:58 Evo/trafficlifesmp reference?????
