Hie Jeff I've just received the seeds for flamethrower and I wanted to ask how many years do they take to get to 60 cm or so as that's the size I want to sell them at and also how many years do they take to develop seeds
I am growing these outside in the open, sun, wind, rain, in seedling phase at 38 degrees north of Equator and they seem to be tough little palms so far and while other tropicals have perished, these continue to go. Most important is to nurse them through their most delicate seedling phase. My location does not get much below 50F or above 80F though at the latitude of Baltimore and Indianapolis they are doing just fine.
I reside in Hawaii and I was planning on adding several Croton varieties to my front yard . I get direct sun for about 9 hours . I'm wondering with this amount of sunlight the Crotons with thrive . Any suggestions as to which varieties thrive with this amount of sunlight?
The second 't' is silent. Interesting to hear it tolerates low temperatures. Mine is about 25 years old and has made a 6 m trunk recently. It has never had any care but I am in the Wet Tropics of north Queensland so rainfall is 4000 mm p.a. It could be another 10-20 years to reach 30 m before flowering. The inflorescence has millions of flowers.
