Jeff, incredible palm species. Don’t forget that there’s an S on the end of species whether it’s one species or several species. Thanks for the great videos!
Honestly, nobody knows yet. There are so few in cultivation at this time and none are even close to flowering yet. I know of none that even have wood trunk including mine. So, were still a few years away from seeing this. AND.....the sad part is, there's no guarantee that once your tree comes into flowering, that it gets pollinated to set seed.
@@jeffsearle1763 Is there a way to "FAKE" a pollination process to trick the tree? like using a one bristle brush to make the tree think its a bee or butterfly? I know silly question, but there has to be a way to do that. Thanks.
@@jeffsearle1763 Well, once it flowers it will get pollinated, no worry about that ! There will be thousands of flowers (there are 3 "shots" of flowers, the first one being the most impressive one), the bees will do their job and there will be hundreds and hundreds of fruits/seeds, no need to have another tree in flower around for the polination ! The only thing is that you will have to wait for a few decades before it gets into flower.... 40, 50 years, may be more ???? no one knows.... In its habitat the local people didn't really remember seeing it in flower, only one old man thought he had seen one in flower when he was young.... Anyway, your tree is really doing great and is growing really fast, I'm quite impressed. It probably has the ideal conditions, not like in its original habitat, let's hope that it will flower within 20 or 30 years.... How do I know all this ? just because we are the ones who discovered this extraordinary palm tree and had the chance to witness the development of all the flowering procedure.... 😉
@@jeffsearle1763 Yes, I am, as surprising as it may sound ! A friend of mine has just sent me the link to your video. Nat stands for Nathalie and mada for Madagascar... is "Lol" because you're just super surprised 🤩or because you don't really believe me 🧐????
