Title: pros and cons Intro: No mods! 6 minutes in: I’m still talking about a pile of Amazon garbage that have affiliate links below. 7.5 mins: finally getting into the title topic
Nice video bro. I have the most basic S trim 2023 Frontier in the exact same color as your taco and honestly dude I love it and don’t care about how basic it is. It’s so similar to your SR it’s scary. All I’ve done is paint my steel wheels matte black, window tint and a Tanneau cover. 24500 miles in one year and going strong. Basic truck gang 💪🏽 lol
All your downsides of the truck are things i love. Less electrical parts = less electrical problems. On a side note im 6'2 and it feels great in the driver seat 😎
I have and sr and yes I've got a few mods mostly interior thing that where not to expensive i enjoyed doing them like a hobby but it's your truck you should have it anyway you want I'm not going out and paying 8000$ dollars for rims and tires i won't have that kind of money and i could think of better wsys to spend it some people buy the top of the line truck take alot of factory stuff off and dump anothrr 20000$ it's nuts.
Most vehicles before you buy them have scratches where the door handle is...... My Tacoma had it and i was the second person to drive it when it had 2 miles on it
I have the same SR model truck, except mine is a 2021. Same color, options, etc. It does exactly what I want it to do, and it does those things well. I did, however, install the seat jackers on the driver’s seat. That was a noticeable improvement. I found your video entertaining; very good editing, flow, and content. Good job, and enjoy the truck.
I have the exact SR same colour and rims, but mine is a 2021 and I do have heated seats and dual climate control. I think I'm a Canadian version of you I'm simple and not flashy and the SR does everything I need. Basically, it's my daily driver, and it can do more when I need it. Thanks.
initially trucks were made for work, now days a pickup truck is more like an overall utility truck. I personally prefer plain and simple trucks rather than a more sophisticated and expensive to fix trucks.
Toyota says to change the oil and filter every 10K miles (that way the engine will wear out quicker), so change the oil Every 5K miles with 0W-20 Full Synthetic High Mileage oil. The High Mileage oil has additives to Decrease engine wear.
Since your Taco is a 4WD, once a month Engage your 4WD for about 3 or so miles. If you don’t, your 4WD system can “gum” up and not work correctly. During our very snowy winter months my Taco is in 4WD most of the time. We live in a very mountainous area of north central Washington state and 5 miles from town, so once a month other than the winter, I engage the 4WD system just to keep everything moving smoothly.
Since you have the V6 (and yes I’ve done the same mods to my 23 TRD Off Road double cab V6), Install a K&N cold air intake (or at least a K&N air filter), FlowMaster FlowFX exhaust and an Overland Tailor Tune. These 3 mods will set you back about $2500-$3K, maybe. These 3 mod’s will Increase your horsepower, torque (range) and your mpg. They will Not void your warranty. The OTT, will STOP your transmission from “hunting” for the right gear. I’ve already reached out to Katzkin and they’re making me TRD Re Leather seat covers with black trim and stitching. After they remove my factory Black leather and replace them with the TRD Red Leather, my buddy (who also has a 23 TRD) has bought my black leather and will have it installed in his Taco, since he has gray cloth seats. After that is complete I’m having my White Tacoma 2 toned in Barcelona Red metallic following the body lines of my truck. I’ll also have it pinstriped. I have installed some interior trim pieces in TRD Red. The final mod will be choosing the right wheels for my Taco. I know that you said you can’t afford to put any mods into your Taco, but the fist 3 will pay for themselves in the long run. Enjoy your Tacoma. It’s my opinion that the 3rd Generation is the best
I have a 22 Toyota Tacoma nightshade only mod so far leveled and I love it. Any Tacoma is great just take care of it and the truck will take care of you. Plus resale value is there in case you decide to sell it.
Most of the problems can be purchased for very cheap! I bought Nice Alloy wheels and brand new tires for 700.00 so I think this truck is great. Your letting others talk you into believing your missing some thing. I would rather take some of the money you saved and put in a kick ass stereo.
I have the same truck but Red. You missed something it does't have. It doesn't have ASS Auto Stop Start and it does have a manual handbrake. I let my wife have the fancy soft touch stuff. She still likes driving the truck too.
Nice video nice rims I love my 22 trd sport..great trucks stock..all my mods are lighting from caliraised. Except the anytimecamera....lightbar ditch lights..your rims are fine bro
Wow! You are hard on your truck! lol All the chips, scratches, damage to the interior is the kind of things I don't see after 10 years of ownership. But it's okay, it's your truck and I'm not bashing you, was just surprised at how much after just 4 months. 😁 I just picked up a 2023 SR double cab 4x4 Taco myself. Got the Ice Cap (white) paint that most likely will be recalled as it's so bad. But hoping Toyota paints it right when it's time.
I have a 21 sr5 , only thing I see that I have over you is the fog lights , the tacoma badges on the doors . And decent rims which was the main reason I went sr5 over sr . Those sr rims are an eye sore
The things you don't like about the truck made my brow furrow and shake my head. The things missing you don't like such as fog lights, outlet in the bed, LED headlights are totally available options. You just, you know, have to pay for it on higher trim levels. It shouldn't be a negative in about way. You can't be upset about that because you cheaped out. Second the gas mileage the computer tells you will always be inaccurate. Simple math is what is needed to figure out MPG. First, reset a trip odometer when you get gas. Fill up the tank to full. Drive truck until you need gas again. Then, what you do is you fill up the tank all the way until the gas nozzle handle clicks. Finally you take the amount of miles you drove via the trip computer and divide it by the gallons you put in the truck. Voila! True gas mileage. Also, the fact that you have no idea about the difference between 4 high and 4 low makes me worried. You should really know about that kind of stuff before you buy a 4x4 pickup truck. I feel bad for your transfer case.
I have a 2012 Tacoma Sport and it is a good truck, but I prefer a stick and I have a problem with the 5ft. box, bought it used with low miles. It has a 4.0 in it.
Former Taco TRD Sport owner here... Bad mileage (yes, I know, it's a truck), shitty driver seat and the gear hunting at 75 mph or higher is just dumb... Upgraded to a 24 Tundra Capstone, HAPPIER with the look, feel, drive and interior.
Not sure where you’re at but you can get a 2023 trd off road for $42 or less.( In NY) You get soooooo much more and now more than ever as they are trying to make room for the 2024 4L turbos !
I LOVE my 2023 Taco 4 cylinder 4x4 SR! We already have a 2019 Tundra SR 5.7L V8 that we bought to tow our 23’ Airstream, and I sold my 2008 FJ Cruiser to get the Taco. I did love my FJ, but we needed something with a bed, and the FJ was starting to have components that were needing replaced, and having to flip the seats down to load up our beach gear or my Stihl mower was a constant pain in the ass. Both my wife & I are satisfied with our new Taco!
This video so many contradictions I don't where to begin.........for one he said he's not going mods the truck, but he has a bed cover not mention the interior has mods "LED Lights just to start....Dude that's a MOD......smh......you said in the beginning you love how the seats feels and it doesn't need adjustment but yet you complain about it being Manual.....and you don't regret buying this truck....you don't even know the difference between 4H an 4L....but you drove using it....smh again....and all the cons that you mention it's superficial.....btw......it's not a sports car it's a truck........personally I think you made this video for views.......when purchasing a vehicle you purchase something according to you needs not your wants. The Toyota SR gives you the buyer the opportunity to customize your truck. By the SR is a great truck !
Your overall MPG should be on your touch screen, if you go to the trip information screen, there is a button that says "History," that will be your total average MPG since the last time it was reset. As for the point of your video, mine is a 4x2 Access Cab SR, so even more base model than yours, and I love it. Most of your cons to me are pros, I don't need all that stuff. Totally worth it for me, I'm so glad i went with the SR.
