Under your back seat is a jack. I would recommend you try it out at home so you're not trying to figure it out on highway in the middle of the night. Practice removing your spare from under the truck and jacking the truck. Best to know what to do beforehand.
I have a fully loaded SR5 and I love it. The SR is a very nice trim. You still get a lot of features and you can customize the hell out of it. Congrats!
Awesome! The SR5 is lowkey what I wanted, but I didn't want to wait and found benefits in having the bare minimum (customizing like you mentioned). Thank you! its been great so far. Hitting 1,000 miles soon
Congratulations, great looking truck! I've had my SR since last November and love it. It got tested today, had huge load of mulch dumped in it for the home. It did great.
Hey Sir Dawg I bought a 2022 SR 2.7 Tacoma last Dec. I really like the ride and solid feel. It is actually my first pickup. I have learned to appreciate the Toyota dependability.
@@PrepperDawg When I bought mine last year the dealers in my area could hardly get any new cars and trucks. I bought the only Taco they had on the lot which was the Celestial Silver Metallic I think. I was somewhat desperate to get some wheels asap.
I LOVE my 2023 Taco 4 cylinder 4x4 SR! We already have a 2019 Tundra SR 5.7L V8 that we bought to tow our 23’ Airstream, and I sold my 2008 FJ Cruiser to get the Taco. I did love my FJ, but we needed something with a bed, and the FJ was starting to have components that were needing replaced, and having to flip the seats down to load up our beach gear or my Stihl mower was a constant pain in the ass. Both my wife & I are satisfied with our new Taco!
we have the same exact truck! the SR is the way to go, tacomas are meant to be customized.I already swapped out my grille added a front cam, roof rack and dipped my wheels. all for around 750. theyre a clean slate to make it exactly how you want....only thing missing imo is rear locking dif but even on some of the harder trails you dont really need them.
I bought one SR5 4 wheel drive and I replaced the stock tires. 245/75/16 with BF Goodrich KO2 265/75/16 and a 2 inch lift kit the front and rear and I like it. But I don't use 6th gear at all. No Torque. The transmission will down shift back and forth on the highway. Even at 80 mph. The truck needs a lower gear ratio. It has 3:90 gear ratio. It needs 4:30 or something. Maybe even lower. If I drive 65 MPH in 5th gear it gets close to 20 mpg. I wouldn't waste my time with an aftermarket exhaust system or a cold air intake. A V6 sounds dumb with loud exhaust and the stock airbox is perfectly fine. One thing I did that I like is I removed the Badges and I bought a matching color Tonneau cover and it looks great
Your gas mileage will improve after a few thousand miles. Mine was terrible on gas the first 1K miles or so. Mine has 3300 miles on it now and it's getting 24.5 mpg average.
I had a 2018 SR Tacoma crew cab and I love it.. most reliable most useful and least costly maintenance of any vehicle I have owned and I'v had dozens of vehicles. at 109,000 miles I was on original brakes. 3rd set of tires, and only oil changes and one transmission fluid replacement. that's it and I traded it for a great price and getting a new 2022 one she model. I don't want or need all the frills and heavy accessories. I want a truck that takes me anywhere and always gets me there in comfort I got up to 25mpg on highway. and averaged about 22. 6 cylinder four wheel drive..
Awesome video man. my family is waiting on our order of 3 Tacomas for our ranch. can't wait to drive one when I go down to Mississippi this summer. really looking forward to the next upload
Awesome truck! People like to poke fun at the taco for being slow, (which is true) but I think it’s perfectly fine with the v6 and I’ve never felt like it wasn’t enough, even after I got my lift and 33’s. The kinda people that need to rush from light to light should just get a car instead! Lol
Thanks! and true! I don't think anyone buys a truck with the expectation of it being fast. With that said, I've never been driving it and thought it was slow tbh. I drive slow to get better gas mileage tho.
I’m 23 and planning on getting the 2022 Tacoma SR 4x4 as my first truck soon. This is by far the best video on this model! I was already pretty sure this is what I wanted, but your video just sealed the deal. I’m getting this truck ! Has everything you could ever need in a daily pickup at a moderate price. Cant wait to see what plans you got for the truck, subscribed!
Keep your tailgate locked so it doesn’t get jacked. ECT button changes how your transmission shifts so it makes your truck feel faster and respond better. I have a 2021 stock SR5 and I upgraded my tires to mud tires and went from 245 to 265 tires and not issues….265/75R16. Any bigger and you will have to cut stuff.
haha I'll do that thanks for letting me know! and ahh I see. I'll try it out and see if I notice a difference. Thanks for the info! I'm not sure when I'll be upgrading the wheels and tires but I'll keep that maximum size in mind. You can go bigger with a 2-3 inch lift though right?
@@mjjauto ya you can lift a few inches but any higher and you might not like how the truck feels. I’ve seen several people here on RU-vid regret a big lift. After I put the bigger tires on my truck, I gained one inch. I have not done an actual lift and not really interested at this time. I am not really into off roading. I just want to be able to drive when it snows, or light off road driving if I go shooting in the woods etc. I’m not into that overland life style but to each their own. Oh btw do not listen to Toyota with regards to 10k miles oil changes. I did my oil change at 1000k, then at 5000k. I am at 7k+ miles and in a few thousand miles I’ll be getting my free oil change from my dealership. Some don’t do the first 1000 miles oil change but I’m anal about stuff and did it at 1k. ‘’The car care nut’’ is a good RU-vid channel to follow. He is a Toyota master tech and shares a lot of good information on Toyotas. But ya, if you are gonna keep that truck for many years, stay up with maintenance religiously. Our trucks are durable and reliable and a big investment. Oil is cheap, engines are not, so take good care of the truck and it will take care of you.
@@mjjauto you’re the best 😂😂 I appreciate it bro! Yea can’t wait to see what you do, I was gonna get an SR in Red endup with what I got. You’re gonna enjoy the truck! Welcome to the TACOMA FAM 😎
I thought I might need to, but I haven't had any issues with seating position for 3k miles. I haven't adjusted it once since I picked it up, I guess I just got lucky
@@mjjauto I had over 150000km on mine before I added them. I never had a problem with day to day driving, but anything over 2 hours it started to get uncomfortable. Now that I have them, it’s a huge improvement even for the short trips.
Congrats I think you'll like it. As far as bells and whistles, buy what you think you will actually need. Anything else is just a luxury feature. I am late to the Toyota bandwagon. So far I am impressed with my truck.
Thanks! I've been loving it! Everything I need in a truck. The only thing I feel like I should've considered is not having keyless entry..... but other than that it's been great
Yeah it’s definitely worth it, you can still get V6 and 4wd on it if you wanted. Less stuff for it to break stuff being manual. I would just change the wheels though.
I have this exact same truck. my plan is to get cool rims and tires, and maybe also a cap. maybe a bull bar. At first I wanted to change my grille but now it's the one I like most.
That's my plan too! I'm waiting and saving up some money to get new rims and tires at the same time as getting a lift. Or I could get new rims soon and then when I get a lift I could just get bigger tires. Any rims and tires you're looking at?
We just bought this almost exact vehicle a couple weeks ago. Very thankful for this video walk through. Did you find the storage space behind the back seats yet? Very handy.
I use them to store my tie down thingys for securing them in the bed, and tennis balls haha. The space is nice to have, but I don't go in there often to grab things
Yea SR5’s have those few extra features to make it less of a “work truck”, I just hopped on the SR because I didn’t want to wait longer for an SR5 with the same color and V6/4x4. Good luck! Let me know if you find one!
@@jaysmith179 Yeah the 4 cyl is more reliable but my father has a 4 cyl tacoma, and its decent but slow as hell. I ended up grabbing a 4runner, but then I smacked a deer with it a week later, and I'm still waiting on the shop to get the parts in to fix it
I’m doing the same plan now I just graduated and have a decent job I’m saving for about three months same as you because I don’t have credit but this is my dream truck and I can’t wait to get it
All in all I have 20000 miles now .I like it . Transmission is probably my only complaint. Searching for gears to much . Other than that it's a good truck
I've been getting like 16-18 city and rarely drive on the city. Also, theres this weird gas mileage calculation problem I've been happy that I'll explain in my next video
Im at 3K now and will be getting my first oil change in 1-2k miles. I hope I do get better gas mileage cause it hasn't been the best since I don't use highways often
@@mjjauto I actually did. I was there for a long time, but half of that is my fault for not having everything ready to go. I’m super happy with the truck though, and the sales person has kept in touch to make sure everything with the truck is good.
@ZTPGarage I feel that hard man 😂 I had a couple of things I could've had ready to make it go smoother. Sales guy for me was also a cool guy, haven't kept in touch though, but that's on me. Did you have Jonathan?
@@mjjauto I ended up with Umar. They even let me know there was a recall a few days after buying it. It’s something super simple, but usually I’d have to wait for something to come in the mail
You have a second 12 v power outlet in the center console. The first button you asked about takes you back to the main screen. I have a 2018 SR DC 4x 4
I only have a usb and a usb-c in the center console :( I can look again though, maybe i missed it but its a pretty big outlet to miss. And thank you! How are you enjoying it?
I bought my 2017 trd two wheel drive used back in 2018 the first thing that I noticed was the seating was to low with the backrest of seat feeling tilted backwards couldnt drive like that anymore so went to lowes bought many washers to raise the seating up 2" more works well & much more comfortable..
I would not mind a 4 cylinder one. Crazy base price! I thought MSRP was less? Maybe the 4WD really jacked up V6 price, and other options they added.? I would not want auto seats. Processing Fee? TF?
I live in Virginia and the winters can be pretty bad (I’ve gotten stuck before in my previous 2wd car) so v6 4x4 was a must. Base price is higher because of the v6 4x4 and double cab. And yes the processing fee was hefty… but currently dealerships are not negotiating because there’s always someone that will take the deal with the processing fee. I was just happy it wasn’t marked up
@@mjjauto oh yeah, got the TRD grill added the Tacoma badge, tow hitch, change the headlights to "AlphaRex LEDS," Stage 3 Foglights, we will change the wheels, tires and suspension this December. The base model gives you an opportunity to make your truck yours. We have gotten so many complements. We also change the interior lights to LEDs. Having so much fun doing these MODS. Any advice you need, reach out !
@@dencat6618 yoooo those are some sick mods man. See this is why I see so much value in the SR. You get so much more control over customization. You really do get to make it yours! Thanks bro, really appreciate it 🙌🏽
Thank you man! How are you liking it so far? The only thing I’m not enjoying is not having keyless entry… when I have my hands full of grocery bags I hate having to put things down and get my keys. Other than that it’s been great
@@RRRRR7-c7r I feel that, same, 2-3 inch lift for me. I’ve been thinking about pairing gold colored rims with the grey exterior, not sure if that will look good tho
@@mjjauto I was also thinking a good mod would be a nicer grille if you go on ebay they have upgraded grills. My last truck was a 2013 same color 3 inch lift with Aluminum rims which looks good with the grey.
im like 5 2' and getting my 2022 SR tacoma soon but noticed in some other reviews that the seat doesn't go up? I usually have to pump my seat a little in my car but wondering if ill have problems with that later in the tacoma.
Yea mine don't go up, I'm 5' 9" and don't have any issues. There might be something you can buy to put on top of the seat that'll raise your seating position a bit and make it more comfortable. Hope you enjoy it!
I’m not very tall myself… 5-2 as well but I added Seat Jackers on all four corners (front and back of each seat) on both passenger and driver side and for me, not only is it a better feel but also a much better view. I personally feel I have more command of the truck. I’ve only had mine since September 2021, is my first Tacoma, and I’ve done a ton of mods to where I absolutely love driving this more than my Mercedes.
You paid way to much, you never pay on a brand new truck or car the mark on the sticker, these dealerships have tons of wiggles room and kick backs on the new , my 2020 I bought new SR, mark was 32 grand, I paid 26 grand out the door, and negotiated a hitched installed as well, if you are not talking down the price in a new vehicle you did poor, if they won’t negotiate you go elsewhere, used is one thing but new no way, you absolutely never pay what that sticker says, never
People are paying $10k over sticker just to get their hands on pro version of this. Getting a Tacoma at sticker is considered great success these days. I’m sure things will go back to huge discounts one day. But not the case today.
You should be very very careful to say damning God, If anyone will be damned it will be you & others who use his name in vain, repent of your sins & ask the Lord into your life today for tomorrow is not promised to anyone let alone the rest of today.
@@IzaguirreC You would think & say you dont care you die though if your life is not right with the Lord you will live eternity in hell in torment for eternity & that is reality if thats what you choose is an absolute foolish big mistake.. today is the day to repent wait not later on as said no one is promised tomorrow today is the day to ask the Lord into your life & he will forgive you for all your sins & become a new person in the Lord☝
Yea at MSRP you can get a TRD off-road for around 39k. The V6 and 4WD really jacks up the SR price. Problem is that right now just finding one at MSRP is difficult and then when you find one its a 3-6 month wait. So I just hopped on mine, but I'm happy with how much I paid for what I got. And now I get to customize it completely!
