Knocks me over each and every time. 🥲❤Daniel Levy heard Tina’s version in a bar one night and said, “This. THIS is what I want someone to feel about me one day.” Wrote it into the show. 💗
so many more clear harmonies!!!! oh my god! i cant believe i didn't see this when i was on a like a 6 month darren crisis binge last fall and winter haha
This scene is an absolute masterpiece in romance writing - it's whatever the opposite of bathos is (I googled it, I couldn't find an answer), as in, it makes the mood do a complete 180 from silly, unserious and cringe right to genuinely heartfelt and beautiful in a way NO ONE saw coming. The way the whole episode is built up around a character (Patrick) doing this thing they think is sincere, which is almost certainly going to be cringe or backfire (like every. single. other. episode), so we as the audience brace ourselves to be clenching our teeth along with David while he dutifully watches his boyfriend sing at him in front of the crowd. The showrunners could SO easily have let David be the butt of the joke here - either do as we expected and let Patrick completely bitcher some song and mortify him in front of the town. Or possibly even let us as the audience know that Patrick is actually really good before David did, and let David embarrass himself in some other way. But they didn't, they just absolutely blindsided us with one of the most beautiful scenes in sitcom history. In doing so they let us feel just as David must have been feeling. The way his face slowly changes through the song, the way Moira clutches his arm (Moira, the MOST unserious character of this show), the way everyone in the town just sits in silence, knowing. I truly wish I could see this for the first time again, nothing will ever match the experience of actually feeling the shock that David felt in that moment.
I’m not seeing enough people talk about the fact that the guy on the keys is Clark Baxtresser, one of the OG music directors and songwriters for Starkid Makes me so happy to see them all still doing stuff together ❤
I will indeed be a shame and a missed opportunity if Darren Criss is not cast as James Potter in the HBO remake of Harry Potter...Just saying...he is perfect
used to be a huge harry potter fan and I don't really interact with that content anymore bc of JKR but tbh A Very Potter Musical aged very well - I remember when the uncesored verison existed on RU-vid and the show made way more fun about how racist and sexist the books were. It was hilarious then and makes me feel better now that at least this thing that I loved from that era isn't tainted lol
This gave me so many tears of joy omg starkids for life! 🥹❤ Ps I love how Darren starts to raise his hand after the “if you were actually hot” line,, like it takes him a second to realize it’s wrong so in character lol.
