My niece is gay. She came and visited me and said “ aunt Jackie I got something to tell you”. Then she paused. And I thinking something was wrong said “ child spit it out”. She said “I’m gay!” I said Chile I thought something was really wrong I already knew that. She lit up in excitement and said “ For real why you didn’t tell me I was scared you would get mad!” I responded chile that doesn’t change how I love you and feel about you. It’s your choice. I was waiting on you to get comfortable and say it. I was not going to push you into anything you were not ready for. Then I hugged her. So many LGBQT+ ( forgive me if the letters are wrong) have so many people judging them. Listen It’s our job to love people and help them love themselves and their lives. I enjoyed the episode. I love that Mrs. Pat is able to tell stories, state a point, and bring laughter at the same time. You win when you are able to forgive and release the pain.
Sorry to hear abt the condition you grew up in. I was born in 95 and i had a sister who was 7 years older than me and we both bonded over your show. Not really much else, unfortunately.. but you had a body type I envied and so did she. I was a twig and being a black female, it's "standard" to be thicker, curvy, beautiful. And as a younger me, I definitely felt unattractive and like I needed to have a figure to be loved. I grew out of that phase, thank goodness! But you were always looked at as beautiful in my eyes, even as you played the sweet, mischievous Olivia❤ Love you girlies! Stay happy✌🏾
I understood what you were saying about just being American… what baffled me was the name conversation 🤷🏽♀️ stereotyping black women while being a black woman is nasty work😭
Raven-Symoné & Miranda Hat’s off to you two, thank you for holding Ms. Pat within her trauma for those brief moments. Now I fully understand how she was able to release and move forward. I’ve watched many of Ms. Pat interviews she tells her stories but, there is always a section missing the “how to heal” part. You two have closed that gap for me. Ms. Pat, thank you for reassuring me that I am moving in the correct direction.
Allow me to make this clear for some people, E. Lynn Harris wrote books with “fictional downlow male characters”. Anyway, the Wind Blows (2001) (I used quotations, due to the mere fact that my former supervisor attended collage with E. Lynn, she was convinced she knew who E. Lynn muse was for the lead male character “Basil”. On the Down Low: A Journey Into the Lives of Straight Black Men Who Sleep with Men By J. L. King (2004) That book exposed a lot of information, that book alone changed the definition of “Down Low”. As well as created a ish storm of chaos. The term Down Low (DL) was never associate with bisexual men. Once that book was released and the author appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show the definition changed completely. As well as armed black women with new ammo against black men.
*interrupting Raven* “so we know you didn’t masturbate…i do produce this show so i gotta keep us on topic” Ew. I wish Raven could’ve done this interview alone. Yikes.
Georgia and Hawaii both had low ages of consent up until the 90s. Thats how folks was raised. Honestly women all over the country and young guys too--had kids with older people. Most of the time no one pressed charges
You will sell narcs to your own community in front of your child's school but won't touch your own 🌮 because it's disgusting. Boiiii dysfunction will have you bass ackwards
They're trying to ban TikTok to keep people from seeing what's really happening in Palestine. China owns us already. A fuckin app ain't gonna make a difference
