Just cut the red/black wire so the switches are not activated, you won't have a steering lock but the part of the board causing the failures won't get any more wear and tear so should last fine
Nice meticulous video. Im having issues as well and see an error code 802680 with my OBD reader. Other videos show people replacing the circuit board up top. I imagine if its a broken wire a new circuit board would not make any change. Do you know if that board is sold separately or must one look for a salvaged one nit to break the bank. With thanks!

It does not need to be reprogramed. The only question is when will the problem occur in the used shifter. If it's from a low milleage car then you are probably ok.
OK, got it, but unfortunately broke the white plastic locator pins for the electrical connectors. I hope that won't screw everything up when it goes back together. By the way, the gears on mine are fine (and the TB is pretty clean), but the shaft is really frozen. Hoping a deep clean/lube will fix the issue (and that the pins won't cause a new issue).

I only sell parts not the replacement service. Order the parts from the link in the comments and find a nearest electronics repair shop, they will be able to replace the relays.

Great video. My gear shift lights are starting to pack up. Seems strange that the cable is perished - hardly any movement in the gear shifter.... I thought mine may have been brought on by excessive heat from the sun
