I've been playing the Mexican made version of this bass for 4 months and love it. I agree completely with the switch complaints, I'm always hitting it, mostly coming in and out of the bag so it's now routine to check after putting on my strap.

I just got the Hartke 3500 Mofset. When I power it on, I wait about 30 seconds and then it clicks. Finally, after it clicks, it sends an output to my cabinet. Is this normal for these amps? Thanks! P.S. sometimes it clicks in after 30 seconds, sometimes it clicks in after 3 seconds... So strange. Hope someone can explain.

Hi - Thank you for posting this . Question time : I have 5 9v pedals . I see that the ISO 5 only has 4 inputs for the 9v . Can I daisy chain them all ?? And is it ok to input into just 1 of the 9v holes ?? Or should I split them up ?? Maybe 2 and 2 and 1 ?? ( something like that ). I just wonder if having all 5 going into 1 9v input would be too much . I have no idea about these sorts of things . Your help is greatly appreciated 🙏

I've been playing a no name PJ for a little over 10 years. Sounds good, especially since I put new P pickups in it and a short time later had a 3 way switch installed to use P separately, J separately, or both together. But this bass weighs like 10 pounds and feels heavier due to massive neck dive. I was trying to find out what basses would be lighter, but it's hard to find specific info except on really expensive basses. Then I found out some well-known bass players play short scale it got me thinking. For some reason I thought of those as for kids, but they are also good for adults with smaller hands or even some arthritis. That spoke to me. I was in a music store today and tested 2 short scale basses. A Mitchell MB100 short scale. I liked how it looked with the PJ pickup format. I wasn't as happy with how the fretboard felt or even the sound that much. Seemed very bassy and I had to crank the mids on the amp more to get my sound. The other bass I tried was a Squier Bronco. I plugged that in and it was near perfect with the amp eq's set in the middle where I started with the Mitchell. I also much preferred the feel of the neck. I looked at, but didn't test the Precision mini. That just felt too small, almost fragile. Same with the Ibanez Mikro. Really leaning toward the Bronco. I thought at first I wouldn't like it with just that single pickup, but somehow that provides a sound I like, not even all that different from my full size PJ. Also, that single pickup gives my picking fingers more room to operate.

My first acoustic electric bass was a Martin B1. I *LOVE* the sound and playability, and I've owned it for many years. The only problem is that I've had to take it to the luthier several times to address problems where the neck joint started to collapse. The best image is string tension folding the bass from the head stock towards the bridge right where the neck meets the body. It wasn't dramatic as that might sound, but it was enough that I'd have to fully detune the strings and put the bass out of commission until I could get it fixed. I eventually shelved the bass for fear of total collapse. Anyway... several years later I stumbled on a Dean EABC while purchasing ukulele strings at a local guitar center. I was talking to another customer and telling them about my Martin, and I picked up the Dean EABC hanging on the wall to show them the issue. Anyway, I gragged it right at the neck/body joint, and my immediate reaction was that the joint was SOLID. I played the bass quite a bit while talking to the other customer, and I eventually went home with it. It was very inexpensive ($300?) compared to the Martin, and it was setup very well. The intonation was perfect and the frets were dressed and clean. That's what I play to this day... and you can see several videos of it on my RU-vid channel. I *highly* recommend it.

The thing I don't get is, why do almost all electric/acoustic basses come with a piezo pickup? FWIW, I have one with a magnetic pickup, which I think sounds sooooo much better than either an ABG with piezo or a hollow-body with magnetics. Just my opinion, which I admit is based on limited experience.

Your 2nd last setting is exactly what I use for my Jazz fretless. I only use bridge pup to get bite and the CS3 at the start of my chain to tame the sound going into other pedals: Level (unity) 1:30, Tone 12:15, Attack 1:00, Sustain 10:00. For the actual compressor to do its job, all you need to focus on is the amount of squish between the Attack & Sustain. Think about the bass input - it first lowers the signal hot into an onboard buffer, the sustain is actually like a preamp deciding what amount of input to get processed. The attack then takes that and processes this, which means tone is to bring back any perceived loss in tone. It’s not really, it’s our ears that think the tone is lost due to high signals being brought down, and the lower signal getting brought up also - so your hearing more in the centre, hence tone brings out perceived brightness. It took me years to eventually understand what this pedal actually does in real life. Yes, the noise floor is brought up by cranking everything too high - of course it does as it makes loud tones quieter & quiet tones louder, hence a certain noise floor. to be honest, for me it’s silent. If you only use it on a 10%-20% setting, it really does help cutting through a band mix. As it’s not fancy with bells, people misunderstand this beauty. And if you play fretless & use harmonics, it’s a real treat hearing everything on the same level. Wonderful 😊🤘🏻

I have a 2.1 cm nd it keeps growing. So must have endoscopic Ultrasound July 10th 2024 nd hey wil call the day befroe with the time between 2Pm-5Pm with time to arrive. I have hd an endosopic done befoe hey went to my duoedenum so have an idea of this but nwo they must take this fluid out or whatever tissue, and they will test it for cancer. But as it has grown 6 cm in two years, it is not an emergency and my choice, but my Oncologist/hematologist referred me (unknown to me) and got caleld Monday to come in on Tuesday to talk with the Gasroenterologist surgeon, He was nice and my sister in law who is a nure went with me and normally my husband does abut he wits outside. I too have troube with them getting my IV in but normally they do not liek to use the antecubicl rea first so am so surprised they did that first but they wer supposed to start at the hand, but I am telling you yes it can hurt. I know when I had the MRi the nurse did it in side of my wrisst area and she must hve hit a nerve and INEVEr yell and iyet I did, as it truly hurts horribly. She sid she was sorry, My hsuband ws in room next dor in waitign room. When i went in I said " Hope you are alrigth, I did not mean to scare you, he did not know what I was talking about, he never heard of it! lol (He is better than he used to be about such things as we have been through so many surgeries with my spine a few times and hips and knees etc. *severe arthritis* ( and we are still married after almost 56 yrs) lol But some husbands cannot stand alot of it and my husband said : "What kind of man would I be ,if i did not stay because of you being ill?" I am sick about this thought and know it is hard for him, and was thinking maybe I will not have it, and my husband agrees! He said ' I would not have it, I would just ignore it" My sister in law, my brother's wife, the nurse, said ' I would want to know for sure" In the end, I guess it would be best to have some idea, I think? I have leucopenia/neutropenia with low white, red and platlets are low too, and''' so tired'' not to hungry and loosing wt, ( but that is fine with me, but not them.. but not hungry and my hsuband gets upset as he cooks now that we retired and he thinks it is his food, but I just cannot handle too much, I eat for him though , but alone, not too sure it would be much?) and not feeling well and they keep having me get tested and the test nd blood is flown to Utah (the blood work ) with flowcytometry I think it is called, *somethign like this* and it is for Lymphocytic Leukemia, Do think I wil be fine with the Pancreas situation and do not think it is cancer and neither does my husband. I would let it go and jsut have MRI every year maybe , but they can do it and see if it groews faster as if it is 6cm in on year the Dr said then it would not really be a choice as much any more. They do not want me to get pancreatitis either. They will lgive me antibiotics before and after this surgical /procedure. I have had MRSA infection before, after one back surgery. Chemotherapy makes White count go lower so do not think that can be done anyway even if anythign was wrong. maybe would ned medicine to bring it up but Chemo brings it down as most people have high blood counts, I pray it is not cancer. I am glad you worked out fine and you are such a special person with such good personality about it all. Taht is important to try to have faith all wil be alright, It does not always work, but have found, so far so good and have been saved. (You had to have the other device(for intobation) as well, and not just the endoscopy) and that made it harder for you, as it seems? Think you mentioend being inobated too? Did not have that with my other ones anyway . I was shocked about being given Fentaynl and never knew about that. Every hospital and Dr. is diferent, as is each patient, as it seems too. Glad you did well and pray you continue on this path and do get much better with time! Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

All is fine, but you should consider putting your fuzz before the input buffer (you have one in your tuner), due to the impedance. Not totally sure about where to put the noise suppressor, maybe after the tuner or the compressor and overdrive is fine as last effect before DI and the DI itself will work as an output buffer 😊

Chorus pedals are great fun, especially if you're look8nf for that 80's era bass tone! There was a tuner pedal mentioned on one of those boards (at 7:01) The Peterson Strobe, is a tuner. Pre-amp pedal essentially creates overdrive, or more accurately, emulates the front-end of the amp. I do love a good compressor on a bass. I also recommend the MXR Bass Compressor. It behaves much like an 1176 (studio rack mounted compressor). Any more, my bass 10:54 pedalboard only consists of a Boss MS-3 which has every effect Boss catalog, and three external loops to add any of your favorite pedals from any other manufacturer. My amp has its own DI built into it, so no need for one on my board. Though, I do plug into one before my rig whilst recording just to get the pure sound of the bass to process later and blend with the sound of my rig.

Yes, get a chorus. I love that underwater feeling during softer, slower parts. Highly recommend the ehx bass clone. The heart of my rig is the hx stomp. It can cover just about everything and more. It is my comp, octave, fuzz, chorus, amp/ cab, and eq. i run a polytune into the source audio aftershock (gives me 2 overdrives/ preamp options) into the stomp. All on a board made of 3d printed brackets from reverb and wood from the hardware store.

I would highly recommend the EQ -200. I purchased mine about 2-1/2 years ago. I also have a Source Audio EQ-2 and Wampler EQuator - both very fine pedals (used on different boards); but the EQ-200 is my favorite of the bunch. True stereo processing (or you could just use one channel to run your direct to amp signal, and the other for the effects loop, if you choose). Dead simple operation (What you see is what you get - no dialing through menus or fumbling around with awkward controls, and, as you would expect from a BOSS stomp box, it's made like an absolute tank. Super handy graphic display, and four easily programmable EQ presets directly accessible right on the pedal, without the need for any other foot switch. I've used it on guitar (acoustic and electric) and keyboard setups, and it is equally suitable for either. It's also MIDI-capable, with 1/8" connections), if you ever decide to do a MIDI setup, later down the road. The only down-side I can see is that it requires 175 mA to run it. You'd have to use one of the 400 mA outputs on your ISO5, to power it properly. Easily the funnest EQ pedal I've ever owned, so far :-). I had no idea you had two pedalboards! They're kind of addicting, huh?
