You will never see a one handed backhand this good ever again. The absolute best one handed backhand tennis has ever had.

8:40: This brutal slugfest finally convinced me that GS tennis is the greatest possible sport in the universe.

The greatest match I think I've ever seen, all the way to the final point of the final game of the final set putting the exclamation mark on this brutal, 5-hr slugfest. And I've never seen a set go 8 7 let alone 12 10. I guess a tie-break only occurs on other sets than the final one. The match turned around with Wawrinka serving for the 2nd set at 5 3 after a 6 1 first set. Djokovic managed to claw his way back into the match and win it. Maybe Wawrinka got distracted by a possible win in straight sets?

The Wawrinka backhand is not fair. It’s too good with how he can control the direction without giving it away.

Can someone with deep tennis knowledge explain to me why these two match up so well? It is like Federer has far more problems with Djokovic than with Wawrinka and wawrinka has far less problems with Djokovic in comparison to Federer. Styles do make matches.

Stan in his prime was such a bad matchup for Djokovic...typically Djokovic can overpower ppl from the baseline but Stan almost gains power. Have to play aggressive against him

All gangsta with Djokovic until he faced Stan in late stages in every GS but Wimbledon if they ever went against each other in that tournament.

We often say that Stan won 3 slams out of nowhere. But when I watch the 2013-17 matches especially AO matches , I feel like he should have won couple of more slams...

Damn the court is so painfully slow. It literally feels like a clay court match. So many shots hit so hard but barely troubling the opponent.

Honnestly the best game I have ever seen. And I've seen a looot The level of play is ridiculously high and tops any of the big 3 confronations. Stan was on stratosphere and Novak also

Berdych played lights out and still lost. But wawrinka wasn’t able to hit the spectacular winners against him that he was hitting against Novak in the previous match. Also, wonderful sportsmanship from Berdych at the end. He was kind of a jerk at the start of his career but retired a gentleman.

After watching it more than once, I would indeed choose this match as the greatest one of all time. Hardly any weakness within so many hours by any of the two, but continously incredible level of play until the very end. I can't even think of any match between the Great Three the last 20 years that carried such an intensity. And as quite often, the match point is a wrap-up of the entire match. Though The Man gives it absolutely everything in this match of his life, the machine somehow brings back exactly as much, and almost by tragicomical chance pulls his opponent to the net to place the final blow.

Year 2024 Wawrinka at 100% was UNBEATABLE!!! I HAVE NEVER UNDERSTOOD AND NEVER WILL, WHY STAN WAWRINKA HAS NOT A FEW MORE GRAND SLAMS TROPHIES UNDER HIS BELT. 2)I ALSO HAVE NEVER SEEN A TENNIS GAME REACHING THIS LEVEL, ( QUALITY, INTENSITY) I HAVE SEEN MANY MANY GAMES, NOT JUST QUARTERS, SEMIES OR FINALS. THIS TENNIS GAME HAD 2 WINNERS : STAN AND NOVAK . IN MY MODEST OPINION, THIS WAS THE BAST TENNIS GAME EVER PLAYED !! ONLY A "TENNIS GOAT" COULD HAVE BEATEN WAWRINKA AT THIS LEVEL. I consider Stan Wawrinka THE BEST PLAYER EVER !! HIS WEAKNESS WAS CONSISTENCY . IN FACT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL, MOST POWERFALL BACKHAND OF ALL TIMES WAS HIS !

Everyone was talking about Stans monster backhand (with reason). But if you watch this you see how he broke Novak - with his forehand. When both worked, fore- and backhand, then he was almost unstoppable, even for peak Novak.
