@@patriciahogg5763 Oy, didn’t know this! Well, so far so good - it’s been keeping all the critters out so far. Thanks for the tip though, may need to buy a roll of wire if it becomes an issue.
Can't you just add a pressure regulator downstream of a normal timer? I just have normal timers with a 25 psi regulator. I haven't installed the system yet though.
@@DryUrEyesM8 Good question. I’m guessing this gravity fed system would be well under 25psi, but you could always try it with a regulator and see if it works for you.
Maybe you could strap them to the bench with rachet straps? Ah you did mention rachet straps (I left my comment before finishing the video!) but you didn't actually put any on. Why do your roofs look like they're not on fully (they look like they're sloping)? Nice apiary!
It was strapped down the next day with rachet straps. As for the hive lids, I leave them sloped to back for rain and air flow, the front edge of the lid rests on top of the inner cover. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Im sorry that happened to your bees. There isnt any reason to smoke that much. Smoke does not calm bees, it distracts them. And why would you not open the lid? IMO, disturbing them once is preferable to disturbing them twice. I would want to get any broken comb straightened out so they didnt waste energy bracing it into the wrong position. They will have that done in less than a day. Good luck.
Nice video,Curtis, very sorry about the losses,Iwill never forget the time when Elaine and i lost 110,out of 220 hives..Iknow it won't help but I am rooting for you,Igot so sick of seeing dead bees.. Wish they would stop withy the experimental poisons. and just grow things. Good luck with the splits. Maybe a chickenwire screen for the raccons? Boy,what a handsome bobcat! Good luck to you!❤😝 !
Thanks for watching. It's really getting hard to keep doing this, financially, physically and to be honest, emotionally. If this isn't a wake up call to what we're doing to our environment, I'm not sure what is.
You had me until the instant coffee, even Tim's version. Sacrilege! Seriously though great video. I always enjoy watching your adventures. Nice property.
I actually don't mind if a colony is a bit aggressive, within reason. I've found that some colonies produce more honey and are stronger overall than more gentle hives. Cheers

Hey bro ! Good one ! Cheers for making this vid , dont want the good old Outhouse being demonised by townies, yeah going to build one soon , over here in New Zealand we call them Long drops but theyre getting rarer and rarer
Not sure of the power consumption if using shore power, but personally I wouldn't run this with a small solar system - there are better options available for solar fridges.
Yup want after a africanized hive forgot to tape my pants to my boot. They got me 28 times in the ankle and leg. I was running down the street.😅😅😅😅 then I got in my car and turned up the AC that stopped them only got stung 7 more times. Lol
Requeen.. me and the wife work our bees barefoot.. short sleeves and short pants and no veil.. sometimes I get stung when 1 gets stuck in her hair or my beard.. I do use beard oil that has lemon grass oil in it.. might bee my fault
Can I ask, why the stick from the ground into the hive? I do not have a hive yet, I want to be more comfortable with what I'm doing prior to purchasing a package or nuk. Thanks in advance.-Em
The stick is there to help keep the plastic wraps from blocking the lower hive entrance. Controlling humidity is important in the winter months and this helps with air flow. Good luck, you may find it easier to install a nuc if you’re just starting. Go bees.
@@cleverjoe unfortunately I did the same thing. Got my hive 2 weeks ago. Walked up there to fix a mess up I did and I was like I'm good this will be quick well my hand has been the size of a softball for 3 days lol
