I don't have a problem with the traditions and rituals - those are the routine of a holiday. I can see them coming from 365 days away, and I know what to expect from them because they always go the same way. The only issue is when the routine inevitably gets thrown off because someone forgot to put the brussels sprouts on or someone overslept. Also, yellow birthday cake?
Every year for my birthday for as long as I can remember, my mom always loved to bake everyone some yellow cake with chocolate frosting. It's my absolute favorite, it's not the kind of taste you can get with something like vanilla or chocolate cake, it’s pretty distinct, for me anyway (it's kind of hard to describe).
I love the holidays, as a concept. In Honduras we don't really celebrate Halloween, which kinda sucks cause it's the one holiday I know I'd love. But then with Christmas it sounds awesome as a concept too, I'm not religious but just being with family, having a nice dinner together, the spirit of sharing, all of that sounds great... Now in practice it's more like rushing helping my mom cook two different meal options to make sure everyone can enjoy the food, queueing to use the one shower in the house and get ready, spending a long time with "fancy clothes" on that are so uncomfortable compared to what I usually wear, worrying people won't like the gifts I bought them... But the worst part is definitely the firecrackers and fireworks. I hate that so much and it's such a big part of the traditions here, like to an incredible extent. They use the local football field in my hometown as a makeshift firecracker market during these months, and every year there's talks about banning them because of all the horrible accidents but in the end they never do :/ I think I get just as scared as my dog and cats. Anyways, sorry for the long comment 😅 but thanks for talking about this topic, your videos have been a great resource to explain some things better to my family and it's helped with understanding each other more
The first modern sonic game I have ever played is was sonic heroes and I became a sonic fan ever since I loved the level designs and music my favorite level in the classic and modern sonic games are the casino themed levles
The number one reason that I’ve always loved Sonic as an autistic person is because it made me appreciate Japanese art all the more. The fact that once upon a time, Furrys actually were cool. 😂 When Shadow came in the mix, it was all over for me when I dived deeper into the lore.
I was really appreciate your disclaimer at the beginning. I really love spinning fast on a ride I feel fine, but being in a car driven by someone who likes speeding makes me incredibly uncomfortable. But I do love watching all videos at 2 times speed. I prefer watching youtube shows instead of any other video platform such as Amazon or Crunchy Roll just because it makes me feel far more engaged and like I can actually focus on the content rather than feeling like I need a distraction while watching. If I am sitting down to watch a movie it can be really tedious to get into a long plot when it feels like everyone is speaking in slow motion, or a long panning shot that doesn't feel like it adds much to the story will just make me want to skip ahead. When I had netflix I would just hit the 15 second skip ahead feature to watch through shows faster.
on this one other thing of note, if there are multiple input streams such as playing a video game while listening to a youtube video and music I can I will put the video at normal speed as I listen so that I can still pick up on the gist of that video while distracting myself enough with the other media. The only video games that work well for this sort of experience though are MMOs or games I have played a bunch already so that I am not having to engage the speech centers of my brain for multiple data streams at once. It is very difficult to read something at all while listening to music with lyrics, or having a podcast or youtube video on.
Apart from an Exercise Bike with an uncomfortable seat, dumbbells and resistance bands for my arms and legs that I own at home, I mostly have walks by myself and sometimes with friends and family in fact some of the social club group team games have been in a field round the back of a leisure centre. Copying Joe Wicks workout movements on a screen is sorta hard.
One thing I think is appealing specifically about the characters is how many of them are specifically relatable to many autistic people's experiences with being isolated or feeling "different". From Tails being bullied due to a genetic difference, to characters like Shadow, Blaze or Knuckles being somewhat unfamiliar with the world, friendship, etc. due to their backgrounds. Every Sonic character has something about them that makes them very distinct and in many ways "weird" in a sense, but they get to be cool and have friends who accept their individual weirdness :) Also something about Shadow that I've specifically noted that not a lot of people talk about is that he has a pattern of being manipulated by other people (Eggman, Black Doom, etc.) due to taking them at their word. Shadow seems to have a difficult time understanding when people are lying to him and this causes people to take advantage of him, something which is unfortunately a common experience for a lot of autistic people. I also want to mention that for a long time I have viewed Sonic not just as autistic himself, but specifically low empathy. I won't list a bunch of individual examples, but across multiple pieces of media he often doesn't seem really receptive to other people's emotions in a "normal" way. Sonic can understand what other people are feeling on a technical level and say what he knows will help them, but he never really appears to FEEL what other people are feeling. When someone is sad, Sonic never really seems sad himself for them, but he still comforts them. That's just something I've picked up on and is much more of a specific thing that people probably aren't really thinking about, but I thought I'd at least mention it. 👍
You know as someone here who's been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome from a Brittish Hospital here this video is fascinating. Look I've only lived in Italy venice but that was only holiday trips with family via Aeroplane, we spent 4 days weeks ago.
Just last night in my dream I was able to run through the woods at super human speeds and it feels amazing. Just playing as my power fantasy dude in dreams is fantastic I feel so free. Big jumps and flying fast and fighting things is good. Transportation vehicles are terrifying death machines. Especially big ones.
In india Autistic people or kids are treat as mad person or even worst than animal sometimes parents due to society pressure have to send the child in rehab or shelter or asylum. Society in India doesn't accept Autistic people
I've got ADHD (not autistic but related still), and I always watch video's sped up. I've actually got the enhancer for youtube plugin which allows more control over playback speed so I watch most videos at 2.5x speed +- 1, unless there is music I want to hear normally. Just the physically going fast thing though, (and this could be in part because of meds) at work I am just always going. Near constant powerwalking and a need to be doing something.
9:35 I've been using this Futo keyboard on my only smartphone for the past 2 months. It works well. I like it. Swipe is meh. I'm glad to give it a help =)
