Thank you for watching! For the rest of September I'll be taking a break from making autism videos but I'll still be running the livestreams on the weekends, a lot of fun is waiting for you!
I always play videos at X2 speed, if I watch at regular speed it's like I forget the previous point they talked about cause it feels like it was sooo long ago, so watching at a faster speed helps me focus and understand the video better. Also I tend to watch long videos (2hrs+) so if I watch at X2 speed I have more time to watch other videos lol. I wish RU-vid had X3 speed like Spotify does for podcasts actually, sometimes even X2 feels too slow 😅
There are actually browser plugins for faster playback speed. I personally use 'Enhancer for RU-vid' and it has a bunch of other nice features as well, but with sound, it ranges from 0.2x to 8x, using the scroll wheel in 0.1x increments.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! Figured the movement would make the video more entertaining than just staring at the camera while sitting on my hands.
Reminds me of one of my favorite games: WipEout HD. I like things that move smoothly, even better if they go fast at the same time, and that game's controls combined with the lack of a speed limit is just awesome. Also I can't get cycloidal drives out of my head ever since I learned of them. They're just so fascinating to watch.
I never thought about it until now but I watch all my videos on 2 times speed and all my friends and family dont understand how I get to understand any of it and now with you bringing up that sometimes our brain can work quicker makes a lot more sense
WAIT Oh my god I stopped right when the part of the video started and I didnt see you talking about 2x speed youtube at all haha. My bad its very cool to finally feel understood for once in my life
Just last night in my dream I was able to run through the woods at super human speeds and it feels amazing. Just playing as my power fantasy dude in dreams is fantastic I feel so free. Big jumps and flying fast and fighting things is good. Transportation vehicles are terrifying death machines. Especially big ones.
Great video, Stephen! I stimmed all the way through :D And have vivid memories of spinning in a chair as a child (and getting in trouble if caught by my parents) Speed, when it's safe, is exhilarating!
I've heard of people watching videos at double speed, but haven't tried it myself save for when I want to amuse myself. That said, I am autistic and I have noticed that (at least before my current medication) I seem to think faster than most people, so I'll give it a shot on your video now. Edit: ...Ok, I can hear you clearly. Mind blown. Edit 2: Even at double speed, this video feels slow to me...It actually feels slower at double speed than at regular speed. Interesting...
I've got ADHD (not autistic but related still), and I always watch video's sped up. I've actually got the enhancer for youtube plugin which allows more control over playback speed so I watch most videos at 2.5x speed +- 1, unless there is music I want to hear normally. Just the physically going fast thing though, (and this could be in part because of meds) at work I am just always going. Near constant powerwalking and a need to be doing something.
I watch almost all vids (including this one) at 2x speed. Thumbs up on this if that's you too! I figure the feature's main use is people were always complaining in the comments about people talking too fast or too slow in a vid. Having a speed control has basically eliminated these comments. I also think people make the vid a bit slow on purpose, as people can easily bump up the speed if they like. The jump from 1 to 1.25x is not a lot, vs 1 to 0.75x is quite a bit slower, and 0.5x is VERY slow.
I was really appreciate your disclaimer at the beginning. I really love spinning fast on a ride I feel fine, but being in a car driven by someone who likes speeding makes me incredibly uncomfortable. But I do love watching all videos at 2 times speed. I prefer watching youtube shows instead of any other video platform such as Amazon or Crunchy Roll just because it makes me feel far more engaged and like I can actually focus on the content rather than feeling like I need a distraction while watching. If I am sitting down to watch a movie it can be really tedious to get into a long plot when it feels like everyone is speaking in slow motion, or a long panning shot that doesn't feel like it adds much to the story will just make me want to skip ahead. When I had netflix I would just hit the 15 second skip ahead feature to watch through shows faster.
on this one other thing of note, if there are multiple input streams such as playing a video game while listening to a youtube video and music I can I will put the video at normal speed as I listen so that I can still pick up on the gist of that video while distracting myself enough with the other media. The only video games that work well for this sort of experience though are MMOs or games I have played a bunch already so that I am not having to engage the speech centers of my brain for multiple data streams at once. It is very difficult to read something at all while listening to music with lyrics, or having a podcast or youtube video on.
9:35 I've been using this Futo keyboard on my only smartphone for the past 2 months. It works well. I like it. Swipe is meh. I'm glad to give it a help =)
I like 1.5x - 1.75. I prefer there to be some pauses to fully process the chunks. Normal speed is a little boring, It depends on the video too. If I'm learning a song by ear, I can play the videos slower. The whole adjustment of speed is pretty helpful.
I have been trying it a lot lately and so when he mentioned the playback speed in this video, I switched and the rest of it was much easier to process lol (I ❤ 2xspeed)
Really? That's interesting. What was it about the faster speed that made the video easier to process? Just wondering, I've never played videos at faster speeds before.
@@Tostemac i dont really know, most of the time if its a slow video i do 3.5x but if i really want to absorb every piece of information i bring it down to 2-2.5x
I find most videos in a person is speaking, is annoyingly slow.( like the dmv scene from Zootopia) I speed up video playback on most RU-vid video essays, and lectures. I often requested my professor to switch to a different video application for her lecture vids that included different playback speeds because without it - I found myself drifting off to sleep and missed so much key info.
On the scientific side, seing as (at least in the U.S) Autism is getting more and more likely which could indicate it being a evolution; however it could be less of a stigma against it allowing people to be accepted.
