I have been keeping fish since I was 7 or so, I am 19 now. We have kept Mollies, Goldfish, Guppies, African Cichlids, Plecos, Tin Foil Barb, Blood Parrot Fish, and countless bettas. And the hardest to alive (more so healthy) are the bettas.
they only had the fine sand at my tractor supply available. i'm using it now in a planted father fish method. seems okay so far. what are the major drawbacks of the very fine sand in comparison with the medium.
Can I add other nano fish and shrimp with that betta? Ive been researching what tank mates I can keep with my bettas and I would love to have some yellow shrimp, chili rasboras or green nion tetras and a snail (in a 5.5 gallon tank) Would it be overstocked?
For anyone having trouble with the filter cover, simply heat the plastic for a few seconds and flatten out against the bow with weights. The filter cover seems to cause people a lot of issues and exacerbates issues with the glass lid. Off the cover is straight, it eliminates trouble sliding it back, once it’s slid back it’s easy to lift out the lid.
I hate how people say oh there's a betta fish at the pet store I rescued him!! no you didn't rescue him you caused the pet store to purchase more therefore more fish = more of a chance some will die. They dont all make it 🤦♂️🤷♂️
Doubt you'll see this but what water changer are you using? I looked at a newer video and saw you got a Python but was just curious what the one in this video is?
Ah yes, the costs.... Those water tests are expensive😅 i also decided to add snail and shrimp to do some of the clean up, idk if I'll have to get food for them too or they'll have enough, one plant is not doing that well so maybe fertilizer 😭
I got a betta fish in the 90s when I won student of the month…it lived for 3 years in a small fish bowl…I wish I knew more in 3rd grade…Poor little fish…the one I’m about to get will be MUCH happier as I’m going to go all out.
Hey bro...my Betta is not eating food...I mostly feed fish foods...they eat too...but for the past two days he is just spitting the food out...what should I do??😊
I have kept bettas in 5 gallons tank with 2 compartments water quality quite good feeding was on time once a day...1st betta died and day after that i changed 40 % water then again 2nd one died....dont know why, the betta is not moving much just staying at a corner or at one place before dying, eating quite less? Dont know why?
Hello! So my betta may have this, due to my sleep scheduleI have been feeding him more. I haven’t really thought of this I just thought he was depressed since most of his plants have died I got him a lot more but he’s still laying at the bottom of the tank. He does have a rather large stomach. Also he has a rather large lump at the end of his body where is tail meets, hes almost chewed his tail completely off. Im sorry if this doesn’t make sense im just freaked out!
I'm finding just how bad of a fish keeper I actually am. I was convinced that a RODI system was needed only to find out later that it's not the best idea since it removes absolutely everything of value from the water. I have also been doing weekly water changes as my 5 gallon tank looks like crap after about 5 days....but I have been doing major water changes thinking that it's helping, not knowing that I'm harming the tank with the RODI system. The deeper I dive into things, the more I find that I don't know what the hell I'm doing.
Bro I wish I knew about the cycle .. somone just gave mine as a gift and I had no choice! But it’s been 3 months and he is still alive and I’ve been doing everything right . Do I still need to cycle?
I use something very similar I built my own python system by using a bell valve from the hardware store and the adapter that goes onto the sink to that was very inexpensive my whole system probably cost less than $20 including the hoses and Hardware
