I love how you play your songs slower than others, a lot of the song Sound just as wonderful slower and it's easier for those of us that learn by ear to follow you thank you!
What tunning did you have your fiddle tuned to? Is it AEAE? I often have mine in the classical style of GDAE and I want to improve and sound more authentic with old time melodies. Thanks for a great video!
Just beautiful. Well done, friend. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏼🏆✨ + if you ever do a lesson or share the sheet music on tunes like this, please let us know. I’m know that many of us would love to learn this type of beautiful music. 🙏🏼🎶🥳
I really like your version. I'm trying to learn this tune and all the other versions are so "notey" and all over the place, it makes it tough to figure out, even when slowed down. Your version captures the essence of the song perfectly while not being overly complex. Sometimes simpler is better. I know the old Lewis Brothers version is what most people play, but I am starting with yours, and I might never feel compelled to learn the Lewis Bros. version. I've learned a good many songs from you, so thank you very much!!
Just discovered this. Just gorgeous. Wonder if you could talk us through your bowing technique in another video (I know this is a long time ago now but hoping you still see comments). It's so so beautiful
Very clearly taught. I’m in the St Louis area and I’ve heard this technique called a bow pulse or bow rock around here. Betse Ellis calls it a swoop bow.
This is a very interesting and haunting tune, and thanks for posting it. I've been working on it, and pretty much have the melody down. But re. your bowing, is this some type of fairly standard old time bowing pattern you're using, or is just the way you felt like bowing it at the time you recorded it? Your comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.
