Fill in the missing words of this APA Style Scholarly Journal Citation. Which component is missing from this citation? Mohammed, A. (2022). Direct impact of APA formatting on student success. 14(5). doi: 10.318/122222/s-456
You can see the full list of items required for a journal article citation at around 00:45 seconds in the video. Go through the list one by one and you will see which item is missing.
It would be helpful to note the spacing. The citation at :18 doesn't seem to be right. Should it say "Mayo Clinic staff" instead of "Mayo Clinic" since that is what the website stated? Isn't this citation missing the name of the website? This is why I hate citation. Everyone says this is a great video, my teacher uses the link but I'm 18 seconds in and I'm already confused because things aren't matching up but no one else seems to notice. :(
Thanks for your question, Sarah. The citation used at 0:18 is an example of a website with no named author that is outlined later in the video at 1:30. You are right that the original article is credited to “Mayo Clinic Staff,” but as there is no specific person’s name used, then the APA manual requires the organization, company name, or website name be used instead. Thanks for your comment about the lack of information on where spaces are needed. We are always trying to find the tricky balance between being brief and giving as much helpful information as possible in our videos. We will be sure to consider your feedback when we make future videos. As a guideline, please note that there is always a single space needed after a period wherever they appear in a citation (unless it is part of a URL or DOI). We hope this helps.
Thanks for your question. APA format does not require you to put your name next to the page number. However, it is worth looking at your assignment outline to see if this is a requirement that your instructor has requested.
Hello, great question. Yes, the article is usually double spaced along with the references. But always check with your assignment or publication requirements in addition to APA rules.
Thanks for your question. You can find details and examples of APA heading & subheading formats here (too long for a RU-vid comment!): apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/paper-format/headings
We recommend downloading as a Word document if it may need further editing. If it is the final version for submission, downloading as a PDF should maintain all of the formatting.
Thanks for your question! The "et al." part is an abbreviation of the Latin for "and others." For in-text citations, you use the last name of the author and "et al." for any work that has three or more authors. For a reference list, you list all the authors names and only use "et al." if there are more than 20 authors. I hope this helps!
I did your process to restrict my viewer but Google rejected the people who with email address other than Gmail. Is there any way to choose a viewer group including people who don't have Gmail accounts?
You will only be able to restrict the site to people with a Google account. They don't have to have a Gmail address, they can set up a Google account with an existing email address.
@@HGHLibrary Thanks for your reply. How doest it detect they have Google account with other email? If you have your RU-vid video for it, I'd like to watch it
There are no enough words to thank you; Your channel is one of the best channels 👌 that explains in this perfect way. Thank you so so much from the heart ❤.
Good information but you're blocking the screen with your next videos. It makes it impossible to see your example. Would have been nice if you gave it some time before you set that up cause this ruins vital information. Very sad
Hi there, thank you for your feedback and apologies for any inconvenience caused! We've now adjusted the video tile overlay so that it is no longer blocking any information on the screen.
It's important to note that the column on the right only appears after clicking the Edit icon at the bottom of whatever page you're on in your google site, to begin editing that page. I.e. you can't add a page without at least pretending you're going to edit some existing page, first.
You're right, the edit icon will appear in the bottom right-hand corner if you are logged in to your Google account and visit a Google site that you have editor access to. This video, and the others in this series, use the editor page as the starting point, rather than the published site.
Thanks for your question. Firstly, we recommend checking out our more recent video for citing RU-vid videos in APA 7th Edition: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8wpjYul-xno.html For Coursera, we recommend using the APA Style guidelines for citing online courses: apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/references/examples/online-course-references
Thanks for your question. If you have created the screenshot yourself, have included it in your paper, and are referencing the original video in your text, you must label and number the screenshot as a figure. For example: “Fig. 1: Screenshot from 2022 Election Coverage (CBC, 2022), showing local candidates awaiting results.” You will need to include the original video in your reference list and include an in-text citation anywhere in your paper that you refer to the video. You can find out more details here: apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/references/examples/online-course-references If the screenshot was taken by someone else and published online and you are refencing that specific screenshot (as opposed to the original video) in your text, you should treat it as an online image. See our video for more information on citing online images: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SCqRAte7kAQ.html
