Technically, IMAX as a format is just 6x7 medium format film. It doesn't look different than any other format within the practical realm of use. The projection on a huge IMAX screen surely makes a difference, but that is nor directly connected to the format in itself

6:07 if you have a passable lathe and mill in a home shop you can do it provided you have the skill. I was able to hold a tolerance of less than .005 inches on a beat up school machine, more often less than .003. More than good enough for a smooth running mechanism. Having access to a CNC makes it way nicer for sure.

@deltacx1059 13 дней назад
@@MediaDivision i never claimed it was cheap, quick or effortless. Make no mistake this isn't a quick or simple project but it is well within the capabilities of a well equipped home shop or a school shop if someone were to take it on, prime optics are the easiest by far though. To be bluntly honest you just sound like one of those pretentious people who think only the high end shops can pull things like this off.
@MediaDivision

This is incredible work by you guys. Wow. To be honest, your work here almost overshadows DJI. I'm very interested, but man, they need to allow me to output that to my existing monitor. My eyes aren't so great for that tiny screen. Also, the USB-C connection should have been locking. But amazing gen 1, that's for sure.
@MediaDivision
@MediaDivision 14 дней назад
Thanks al lot. If you work with it, you see that outputting to your exiting monitor only makes sense if it is a combined image like you have it with the Transmission. That hardware would cost a lot extra and it does make the setup cumbersome. Implementing the touch interface to of a random third party device would be next to impossible, so you would have to stick to the handgrip for control. I agree on the locking, but again, price matters and I never accidentally ripped a cable out, not even filming on a speed boat.
@dollhausenx
@dollhausenx 13 дней назад
@@MediaDivision Thanks for that. I wasn't thinking of the touch interface, I was thinking more of watching two monitors while filming. I suppose one gets used to that. I don't care about the wireless control part, jjust like the handgrip. Hell, I like the idea of the handgrip without the lidar.

@@MediaDivision that focal ratio is pretty middle of the road and the bigger aperture really does make a pretty big difference, the difference between say a 64mm aperture and a 128mm aperture isn't double its closer to 4x if I remember right. @deltacx1059 Месяц назад
@@MediaDivision light gathering area is what I'm getting at. If your goal is low light performance your options are large aperture or low focal ratio. Yes I need to stand back to get a wide enough angle with my lens which limits where it can be used but it's more affordable than the super low ratio optics, the optics in the video provide much more convenience and ability to shoot in confined spaces.
@MediaDivision
@MediaDivision Месяц назад
@deltacx1059 the size of your aperture doesn’t matter if that light is not hitting your sensor. An f/2 300mm for FF but used on MFT is not looking better than a 300 f/2 for MFT although the aperture is much bigger.
