I am a scuba diver. While diving I almost always use the dry suit. And I make all the maintenance and modifications by myself. This is not complicated at all! I'd like to share with you how I do things.
Every owner of a dry suite certainly been in the situation, when the dry suit required some maintenance:
replacing the damaged seals checking for leaks fixing small holes replacing a dry zip installing P-Valve
And the list goes on and on... So here it comes! I'll keep posting new projects when appearing, so, subscribe to get the updates!
Very nice videos on the channel. I'm wondering what type of glue do you use? is it neopren glue? would that work with a neopren semi-dry if I want to replace my tizip zipper? thank you
Hi , do you think bostik 2402 will work ? Some people in forum saying that contact cement won’t work for neck ring . And seaskin website recommend PVC adhesive
Yes much clearer, so much info missing compared to there site, great job. I had a tough time just separating the 2 section when they arrived is it like this when connecting the gloves!! Which would be totally useless to me. They looked so easy to dof and don in there video. I wont bother to install them if its that hard, any solutions to this?
Thank's another time for these so instructive video. I suppose that the old rubber valve has to be unglued by using a hair dryer ? Thank's for your feedback.
WHY? WHY? WHY do guys post a video and not say a word? Do you know how assinine and ridiculous this is getting now ! ! What is wrong with people? You can't speak properly? Shy? You don't like the sound of your own voice? Someone please tell me why I am constantly seeing this nonsense because I do not understand it. Don't post if you cannot narrate it or else find a friend to do it because it SO ANNOYING and childish !!!!!!
I have a question please. Have you ever made your own neoprene socks before? I'm wondering if it would be possible to use a pair of regular wetsuit neoprene socks to make a pair of replacement drysuit socks with, by simply sealing up all the seams. Have you ever done this? Thank you in advance.
@@DrySuitProjects But a pair of neoprene socks are already stitched? Wouldn't it be possible to simply turn them inside out and seal all the seams, and them attached them to the suit? What about using trilaminate material to make a pair of socks from scratch? That should be easy to stitch. 🤔 Maybe?
@@pinnacledivingco sorry, didn't understand it from the beginning. The wet suit neoprene socks(if you have such a wetsuit) will be probably much narrower at the ankle, so it won't fit right to the dry suit.
@@DrySuitProjects Yes. I believe you are correct. I didn't think of that. Thank you. I think in the future I will try to make trilaminate socks. They are in extremely high demand. Thank you for your reply.
Moving the valve to where it should have been in the first place (in my humble opinion). Thank you for this video, it was very helpful for converting my glued in apeks valves on the DUI over to SiTech with a port.
A few years late but I discovered your videos and have been binge watching them. I have been working on my own drysuits for years but I picked up some good tips from your videos! Thanks for sharing!
I would like to know if SC4000 can be used as sealant and left without additional rubber seam? Does it dry out completely and becomes not sticky but still flexible and waterproof?
Sometimes I’m using some mechanical methods like sanding where appropriate. Still haven’t found the solvent to remove it reliably without risking to ruin the fabric or accessories in the process
If you not in rush then 24 hours, if it’s “save a dive” situation, 1-2 hour could be enough, although the full bounding strength would be achieved after 24 hours
Sometimes the glues previously used are not susceptible to the heat. Another point against using the heat gun is that it “revitalize” the thermal glue used before. So getting rid of the old glue becomes nearly impossible
Do you think this would work for a DUI drysuit? My current zipper is sewn in and then Aquasealed on the inside, I hear it can be hard to remove the aquaseal completely. Is there no need to seal the outside of the zipper?
Hey Drysuit Project, I’ve seen some others that place the rubble gasket outside, any advance on one way or the other in your opinion (obviously you do it inside) .. thanks
No, I’m cutting the old boot/sock, trying to leave the suit fabric intact. I’m also measuring the previous glue surface width to make sure to maintain the same length with the new socks or boots
It happens here and there. What is most concerning to me, is that for all of mine complaints to tizip with failed zippers during the years of working with the dry suits, I have zero times it was replaced. They never admitted it was their fault - always wrong installation/ usage.
Received a dry suit second hand off from eBay today and theres all material thread all along the zip line, does that mean I need a new zip or do I just need to cut the thread off? Just been quoted £170 for a new zip from a dry store but don't want to pay that because the dry suit only cost me £110, any help would be much appreciated
The main question does it leak from the zipper or not. If it is - you need to replace it, no way around. I have a number of videos in the channel that demonstrate it, I suggest you go over it and find one that resembles your case
Even though this channel sadly seems to be inactive, I want to really thank you for putting up all of your great videos. You helped me so much to understand drysuit repair, your explanations and elaborations are the best I have ever come across. So much knowledge, great presentation. Thank you so much.
@@DrySuitProjects great to hear! I installed Tecline Pockets to my Ursuit Trilaminate with SC4000 with approx. 1:20 hardener and the edges are peeling off slowly. Should I redo it? If yes, how do go about removing the glue?
I just found your 2018 video. How durable was the TIZIP zipper? I was recently told that I should not use it for a rear zip drysuit. They said the plastic would not handle the stress of flexing my shoulders. Did you have any issues?
Haven’t seen issues from ones flexing their shoulders. There is a possible wear from backplate and shoulder straps rubbing against the unprotected zip, though. Which is true for a brass zip at same extent
Thank you for all your videos, very helpful! I was wondering what is the reason to let the first layer dry for 30 minutes at least? is 10-15 minutes not enough? What if i leave the first layer to dry for 2 hours for example, will it be a problem?
