Welcome here we share information about gardening, chickens, cows, pigs basically everything we are doing on our homestead. We also share our DIY's here around our homestaed. We have a Back To Eden style garden along with hügelkultur beds, raised beds a small orchard with peach trees, and two different varieties of apple trees. We amend our clay soil with our own compost. We use our backyard chicken flock as well as other organic material to build our soil up. We really enjoy growing our own food using organic gardening methods. We are excited to be adding many herbs to our 2022 garden this year.

We hope you like and subscribe to our journey.

Turnips are so good! I am on keto and I use them in my soups and even sometimes as a mash like mashed potatoes. If anything I now prefer them to potatoes.

Maybe use a cutting off of the saiyon like a sucker, grow that first by establishing roots and then graft your peach cuttings onto the sucker paying close attention to equal diameter trunk sizes. That should be a better way because the saiyon is more disease resistant and both will have better chances of survival and fruit production later !

I love paste tomatoes. I also grow a couple different slicers to put in with my paste. Lol. I am trying to find new paste tomatoes. Not having much luck. I wish there was a catalog just on tomatoes. Anyone heard of Margherita, rise em up, pacisano, I seen shas opalka and oxheart. Those two are hard to find also. Happy planting everyone. 😊

I dont know if i mentioned it but most people dont know that there is a maintenance item on your water heater. The ANODE ROD is a very cheap item that screws into it and should be replaced like every 3 years. Its only purpose to to attract all the stuff that attacks the metals in your tank and eventually is what causes them to rust out. I bought a rental from a family that informed me of the water heater being old but, on the side of it, they had listed all the times they had changed the anode rod out. If I remember correctly the water heater is like 27 years old.
@AbundantAcresHomestead
@AbundantAcresHomestead 5 месяцев назад
This wasn’t a water heater it was our water tank. But yes we know alllll too well about the anode rod with our water we have to replace it every few years. Great information for others though thank you for sharing

those shark bite connectors are great,, just if they weren't so expensive. just my opinion,, wouldn't it be better to put the tank in the house somewhere?
@AbundantAcresHomestead
@AbundantAcresHomestead 6 месяцев назад
We would LOVE to have the tank in the house! Unfortunately just no where for it. Yes shark bites are pricey…we use them sparingly for that very reason.
@MaritimeUnprepared
@MaritimeUnprepared 6 месяцев назад
You can buy compression fittings that work similarly to shark bites, you just need a couple of wrenches. Once I was installing a kitchen and one of the cabinets had a water line in it. I drilled the hole for the pipe, but when I put the cabinet down it clipped the sleeve of the shark bite which is also the release. The shark bite bounced off the ceiling and water went everywhere. I personally advocate for the compression fittings if you aren't soldering or using pex
