The debates in realism aside, thinking of the message trying to be put across to kids, it makes way more sense that it’s only one Henry narratively. If there are two Henry’s then the message being put across is that if you’re not good enough, you’ll be replaced whereas the message with one Henry, is one of overcoming obstacles.

Whatever force allows trains to be given life and gain consciousness and sentience, I imagine is taken away whenever an engine is destroyed or scrapped. It's why we don't just see the dead, rotting faces of scrap locomovies, but rather just regular ordinary smokeboxes. I picture the transformation of Lady from The Magic Railroad, just in reverse if that makes sense. I like to imagine at the very least, whatever key element that keeps them alive is destroyed first during the scrapping process, so the engines don't have to endure the process of being torn apart piece by piece. 3:48 This theory isn't entirely out of the question. We see this very thing with rolling stock and other vehicles/machinery in all three iterations of Thomas. RWS, model, and CGI.

This is an okay story compared to the original. But I’m a little annoyed that the engine portrayed in this story looks nothing like the one in the beginning of Ghost Train. (The original being an engine like Percy)

This is a really interesting take on the ghost story. I have my own take on it which goes like this (keep in mind this is only in MY take on the North Western Railway, but if you agree or disagree with this, share your opinions below): When the North Western Railway asked if they could loan a few locomotives from the neighboring Furness and Midland Railways to help with constructing their railway, engines from both railways were happy to assist. Some engines that were loaned were rather friendly and eager to please, such as Edward (who was from the Furness Railway), but there were also those who didn't have the same positive attitude. One of these Debbie Downers about the NWR potentially being a massive failure was a locomotive named Eustace. He was a Midland Railway 480 Class who always found something negative to say about the project. Eddie, a Johnson 1400 Class who would work on the Eight Maples Railway in his later years, described him as "a constant rain cloud who thought he was better than everyone else." Eustace's pessimism was often horrible to be around, and the engines all wished he would try to see the brighter side of things for once. Despite their efforts to cheer him up, Eustace remained steadfast in his negative outlook on the North Western Railway project. As Eustace was a freight locomotive, he was naturally assigned to hauling goods and materials for the construction of the railway. He hated this, even more so because of the trucks occasionally being rowdy and difficult to manage. He would often get very rough with them, and he would often give them rather horrific threats about dumping them into the sea or crushing them into tons of wooden shards if they misbehaved. This caused most of the other Midland and Furness engines to think it ridiculous that an old engine would act like a literal whiny, ill-tempered, overly dramatic, and unbearable bully, especially towards trucks. They often found it difficult to get through the old Kirtley 0-6-0. "Trucks need careful handling, you know! Treat them rough, and they'll pay you back one way or another!" They'd say. Eustace would ignore them, always responding, "I don't need to be told how to go about my work by any of you young whippersnappers! I'll handle these rotten planks on wheels, whichever way I like it! You can do things your way, and I'll do things my way." Eustace always treated the trucks like total trash, never realizing the consequences of his actions. The trucks were running thin on patience with Eustace's attitude and were hoping to get their revenge on him sooner rather than later. At last, the North Western Railway was nearly finished, and it was almost time for the grand opening celebration. However, the railway wasn't entirely finished yet. At this time, the Maron viaduct was being constructed to connect Cronk and Maron together. Sometimes, there were a few trains that had to run during the night to transport materials for the viaduct construction. The viaduct had only been up for nearly a few weeks. On the night of April 4, 1915, a heavy fog came in. It was now only a few days away from the planned grand opening celebration, and a supply train (consisting of essential materials for the viaduct construction) was ready to leave. Eustace was assigned to take this train through the foggy night. The other engines spoke sternly to him, warning him that if he were to derail and lose all the materials inside the trucks, the North Western Railway would be severely impacted. Eustace sniffed them off, saying that he knew what he was doing and had no time to listen to the others rambling, as he had work to do. The other engines that were still awake watched as Eustace jerked the heavy train into motion. They had a deep feeling in their pistons that this would be the last time they'd see Eustace in one piece. Eustace rode roughly down the line, thinking to himself that he didn't need those other brain-dead engines to tell him how to do his job. As he passed Killdane, he bumped the trucks rudely. That was the final straw for them, so in retaliation, they bumped Eustace back even harder, causing him to lose control and travel down the line at a very dangerous speed. The driver slammed on the brakes, but it seemed as if the regulator had jammed, and they couldn't slow down, let alone attempt a break application. The guard, realizing the train was going too fast, tried slamming on the brakes in the brake van, but this only resulted in loud screeching wheels firing huge sparks in all directions. The train was hurtling towards the still-unfinished viaduct that loomed ominously in the distance. Workers who were on night shift duty, upon hearing the sound of screeching wheels and the shrill whistle of Eustace, ran to safety as fast as they could, knowing that disaster was imminent. The train barreled past them, heading straight for the edge of the viaduct. At last the train stopped, but Eustace's wheels were now left teetering on the edge of the unfinished viaduct, his first set of driving wheels hanging precariously in midair. Eustace was desperate for answers as to what the trucks were doing, to which one responded, "Tell us, Mr. Eustace, how do you feel about giving threats to us? How do we feel about being pushed to our limits?" Eustace responded that it was terrifying and that he wanted it all to stop. Another truck said that now he knew how others felt about being treated like objects, with no regard for their safety or well-being. Eustace shouted at the trucks to not treat him like a threat but as an ally in finding a solution. He said that he'd work with them to maintain his image as a fair and respectful locomotive. The trucks clearly saw this as just a cop-out excuse and said that if he were to be rescued, he'd likely not gain anything from it in the long run. They started to slowly bump into each other. Eustace shouted at them not to do it, warning them that if they were to push him into the gap below, he'd never be the same again. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, both Eustace's driver and stoker got out of the cab, while the guard ran out of the brake van to not go down with Eustace. The trucks' slow bumping into Eustace gradually increased in force, causing Eustace to teeter dangerously close to the edge. Eventually, with enough force, he and his entire train plunged into the gap, with Eustace shrieking like a lost soul as he disappeared from view and hitting the ground with an explosive thud. The sound was heard across the island and woke up the other engines that were asleep in the sheds at Vicarstown. They knew something terrible had happened. Saint (a Furness Railway engine) and Stephen (a Midland Railway engine) told Edward and Eddie, respectively, to head to the scene and see what had occurred. As they arrived at the Maron viaduct, the gravity of the situation became clear as they saw the wreckage of expensive materials scattered across the valley below. Shards and chunks of wood, brick, and concrete littered the ground, but worst of all was the sorry condition of what was once Eustace's entire body. It stood before the two engines, as Eustace was now beyond repair and dead. Eddie and Edward said to each other, "We warned him about the dangers of treating the trucks poorly, but he never listened." They knew that Eustace's reckless behavior had ultimately led to this tragic end. The remains of Eustace's body were soon fished out of the river and taken to the workshops at Crovan's Gate, where they would be melted down and recycled for future use. The fate of Eustace made headlines across the Island of Sodor, with many newspaper outlets covering the story of the engine's demise. In turn, the North Western Railway would never open until July 14, 1915, as a result of the accident. That being said, however, every year (whether on a cold October night or the anniversary of the accident), Eustace's ghost runs again. It doesn't run as a danger, as some will believe, but as a warning to others, and some people even claim to have seen him. Plunging into the gap and shrieking like a lost soul. But how true that really is, I'm afraid I cannot say for certain. However, the legend of Eustace's ghost continues to captivate the residents of Sodor, keeping his memory alive through generations. The tragic accident that led to his death was a reminder of the dangers that can befall one if they aren't careful with how they act. As long as that tale of his tragic end is told, his ghost will continue to live on today and perhaps forever.

Personally, in my own au, faceless engines are very much sentient like non-faceless engines, except for them, their faces just never appeared for some unknown reason. They can communicate in a more telepathy like way with the non-faceless engines. Due to a lack of a face, they're also considered somewhat legally blind, though some might have just a pinhole of vision.

I think the Stanley apparition is referring to an illustration in the books, showing Falcon, Duke, and Stanley in the same shot. Stanley seems to be depressed and is slightly faded compared to Duke and Falcon. Stanley also should be at the back of the shed at this point.

I think I found the spiritual significance of the workshop engines (Percy Included) and I found the Sodor Oils LTD I'm gonna do a video on this Iceberg and when you said spiritual significance I thought, Since Wilbert Awdry was a Reverend for church I thought he must've put a bible reference somewhere in his books so when this bit of the icrberg came up I looked on google Bibical stories with the number 5 since with percy altogether there are 5 workshop engines The number 5 comes up the when God's grace is shown, such as the Leviticus offerings and building of the Tabernacle He made man with, 5 fingers, 5 toes and 5 senses showing all of God's grace And in the story where we see Topham go to buy another engine he shows his graces to percy by purchasing him, in this story Topham is paralleling God and Percy is Paralleling man As for the Sodor Oils LTD it's just a green tanker that runs on Awdry's Ffarquhar Layout

Vy-count, not vifz-count. Yes I know, super picky. But not to fear, the British peerage is a baffling millennium-old system of rank that is very confusing to even remotely understand! Also, Lady Jane Hatt only became Lady Jane Hatt upon Topham I's bestowment of knighthood. Her father, was only a Baronet, just like her husband would become. So growing up, she would've merely been, "The Honorable Jane Brown" or Hon. Jane Brown for short. So yeah, I hope you found that slightly interesting even if I came off a bit as "AaAHH AcTuALly"...sorry... lol
