Nice review, thanks. I think that even if you install it the right way, what ever it is, these little disc plates are probably not going to hold for a long time.
really nice to see the dampening actually making a difference, i remember back in the day some of the budget options that had dampening and the adjustments making no difference, super review guys!
Mine are sitting in a box of failed and used parts . Trash . In defense of the product I only used a week and my car only 20k on it . Your money would be better spend on a new set of OEM bumpers. You just had worn out bumpers to start with.
too many secrets I guess, wheel size 17X ?? weight ? Suspension upgrades like bushings? diff mounts? Sway bars? I thought all that would be in the video? Secrets I dont like lol
Some of these details were cut to help make the video more engaging (we talked for over 4 hours, so a lot gets cut) but I really appreciate the feedback, will definitely include more details like these in future videos!!
@@daycrew thats fair , but does it have cams or anything else headers tune ? and KW suspension is very vague what camber is he runing toe in etc? i know its all racing secret but .... give us more details lovely E36 overall but owner is a lil sus
It’s a fully stock engine as the series it races in requires it. There was so much to talk about that unfortunately we didn’t get to talk about everything on his car and include it in the video, however if you would love to know more he did a very in-depth breakdown of his car on his channel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d1wkIxds6DY.htmlsi=w0M8PiabwIrq4k4L
@@daycrew first i want to thank you for the reply its much appreciated when a content creator reply's to his audience, best of luck and you have just gained a long term subscriber
I was watching in full screen then I exit and see you only have 1.2k subs and was surprised, I thought I was watching a professional million subscriber channel, great job.
Nice video and honest review but any company sends me a specific product I can't trust they are the same standard as the mass produced ones and not specially built/tested at a better level than normal, this is true for any supplier I have nothing against them.
That’s understandable! Our previous coilovers were bought ourselves and they performed well, but obviously it can be tricky to trust a supplied product.
Get a DSSR gear selector it fixes some play but than again that’s another $100 it’s bmw 🤷 overly engineered and so many bits that get worn down and need replacement
Mine has 290k miles on it and is still running strong, 2zz GTS. Have everything done to it except a turbo and wheels, it's a killer on the street. 0-60 in 6 seconds, which isn't insanely fast, but in the mountains where I exclusively race it it's quite adequate. I can brake much deeper, corner at 5-10 mph faster than all but exotics, have limitless thermal handling in all systems, and have such predictable handling that fishtailing is all but impossible. It helps that I studied engineering and physics in college and used that knowledge to custom design the systems. I have BC Racing DR series coilovers with 3.5" rear and 2" front drop, 5kg/mm square rates with valving at 4kg/mm to enhance divergent effect at realistic dampening settings, stock sway bars (to square out lean vs squat), urethane bushings on all suspension points and engine mounts, and a lowered center of mass by various means like locating the battery to the bottom of the spare tire bay. With all of the modifications, let me tell you, it does exactly what you tell it to do every single time and holds on to the asphalt for dear life. Stock brakes are great, but an upgrade can be had for a moderate price by going to EBC rotors and Carbotech brake pads. My thermal handling tops at 1300 degrees F, which is adequate at stock horsepower for even the steepest mountain full throttle descents lasting for over ten minutes. I paid 5 and put 5 in, how much more than 10k do you have to pay to get superior handling? I'd say 5 to 10x more.
if you are still on the stock 16s its definitely worth upgrading, especially to something under 14lbs with a bit more width too. out of the box BCs really aren't that great, should send them to redshift to get revalved. 5k F 4K R is backwards for spring rates, rear has a much lower motion ratio than the front. better to keep the battery in the engine bay but replace it with a lithium version, all the extra wiring adds weight and there is no benefit to evening out the weight distribution on a fwd
Addressing some points people have made: Installing it wrong: according to RacingDiffs official full guide (both video and instructions that came in box), we installed this diff correctly. (tutorial from racingdiff's - using alot more force on the central pin than we did ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bLESfhaCROE.htmlsi=Lnplrlo38fDGmfaN&t=376 ) The videos where they give updated information on new ways to insert the central pin are NOT in any official full installation tutorials, therefore until they re-make their official guides and instructions, we feel that this complaint stands. We also don't believe this is the reason it failed, as the circlip wasn't broken. It was stress going through a differential not designed for it that caused it to ultimately fail when launched. It lasted a few weeks without failing under light load and after going drifting in the wet, something that wouldn't have happened if the central pin was lose due to a broken circlip. Drifting with it: The video takes place over the course of a couple weeks, and we did not immediately go out and drift, we made sure to break it in using their official break in instructions, and furthermore we drifted on a wet disel course - something that is quite low stress compared to regular drifting. While RacingDiff's may claim on the site that this product is not meant for drifting (even though we didn't really 'drift') they often advertise it as "Drift. Donut. Burnout. Repeat." as seen in multiple videos. If it can't handle sliding in the wet, we don't think they should advertise this way. Examples: (ru-vid.comxh3H4tZ1N10 ) (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cDGHU3Vax1A.htmlsi=yPrQXIfe7TVYbTOr ) If this kit worked for you, great! This is just our experience. We've had multiple owners say it failed similar to ours, but some have said theres have worked. We just ended up welding the diff as Josh thought this was a bad idea anyway and didn't want to waste another differential.
I’m looking at buying one of these, all I know is I currently own a 1.8 supercharged Mercedes and the mk7 celica makes the same horsepower but it’s NA so Toyota must have done something right with them 🤷🏻♂️ I want one
@@daycrew it can be it feels quick in the city, and rwd can be fun at times, beat a couple of GTIs off the lights with it but I drive on the motorway to get to work regularly and it seems like all its power is at the lower end, it feels slower at a certain point, its auto and there are mods that can potentially up the power but it’s all pricey stuff that likely wouldn’t get me much of an increase for the amount I would be paying for them, I’m in two minds whether to keep it and just buy a project
@@Cyan_769 yeah Ive read that too on stock internals which for the weight is fantastic, I read they can make much more but that’s heading into the forged internals big money territory but I think if you’ve got that kind of money it would be worth it, I think they look really nice too styling wise don’t understand why so many people don’t like the way they look the front end on some I’ve seen looks like a better looking 350z with back seats the back lights I’m unsure on but I don’t hate them, I’m torn between this or an rx8 just because rwd with a rotary and suicide doors but I think the celica is winning purely based on the fact it’s a Toyota engine and you’d have to be a moron to break a Toyota 😅 and the celica imo is a slightly better looking car
Everyone saying the install went wrong might be right but also, you went to test it by drifting it right out of the gate 😂😂 they aren’t meant to support the stress load of drifting 😂
I did sways first on my NC and it made a big improvement. Medium to full stiff was much better than stock but the springs and shocks were still way too soft. After upgrading to Öhlins coilovers I set the sways to soft (soft damping too) and it actually feels like the sways should be softer. I'm not sure and probably won't go back to the stock sways just to see - plus, my setup right now is awesomely neutral on track. But it's a bit less comfortable over single-wheel bumps which gets a bit annoying on a street-driven car.
Just installed this exact shortshifter in my 2002 nbfl and man. Should have done this a lot earlier, makes it so much more fun to shift. Did find out my rubber boot is destroyed so that's an extra cost and my cheap shiftknob seems to be lose on it because of the plastic threads it has. But that's on my for cheaping out. Overall recommend getting one to make your miata feel a bit more sporty.
Not realizable.? Mine had almost 300k and engine and chasis was still solid.! I even made a profit when I sold it.! Clean high mileage can still be worth every penny
