Isn't Andrews County, Texas the community that unanimously voted in opposition to this plan? Didn't Texas pass a law to ban this proposal? How is that consent based?
I find this very disturbing. The traditional simulator where made in such a way, that it EXACTLY mirrored the actual control room. Even to the hight of waste baskets, the way each switch, lever, knob feels like. Now you have glasstop simulator that takes all that away, just to reduce costs.
Ahhh, this video got posted, apparently, just following my departure from "The Peak" in 2014. Steve was the absolute BEST to work with...I worked with him for most of MY 26 years at Comanche Peak when he was Switchyard Coordinator and then when he moved to Safety Manager and I can tell you that I've seldom encountered a more down-to-earth and profound person in this industry. He was professional, thorough but had an amazingly engaging personality that I immediately took to and admired. We toss around the acronym "Nuclear Professional" a lot in our industry but Steve is definitely one that epitomizes that phrase...it was truly my pleasure and honor to work with him!!
the first thing i noticed: the white background of the monitors. they should be darker, cuz you will see things better...i dunno, just a thought from me
This idiot appointed a drunk as a district court judge in Des Moines County. Just ask anyone in Burlington about Judge John Linn and you'll get no positive responses about this boozer.
These two ladies really are teaching a class on media, energy as it stands today. Its pretty trippy how much our national energy security has changed so much. This administration should become the cheerleader for safe breeder reactor research. Also fusion research should be an option.
We are and have been spending billions on fusion. 50 years ago it was fifty years away, now its 40 years away. Proof of concept alone is 20 years away. Save every operating nuke that pass the licensing process. Finish in process nukes. Trial submarine reactors for super size container ships. Use excess nuke electricity to produce hydrogen.
It’s all fun and games until the screen gets smudged and you accidentally cause the reactor to SCRAM .... Jensen ... May is speak to you in my office ... we have to re-evaluate your future at this plant .
Also take into account Diablo Canyon,. because there is a movement fot closing it forever. Look for Save Diablo Canyon on facebook and you will get it. ;)
After the recent John Oliver piece on waste, I'm really curious what Comanche Peak is doing aside from cast iron storage. Maybe a video on what plants are doing in general for waste would be very informative for someone like me who is interested in getting involved to help the issue.
Ame3thyst3 I was just talking to my dad and he said that the pebble they are using is made of graphite, which contains the fuel packaged in tiny particles. These particles are encased in layers of ceramic materials. These pebbles, like coal, will not dissolve in water, or end up in the biosphere. Goooooo pebble bed!!!!!!!
