Honestly, it finally just clicked for me when I started doing the clutch before gas instead. It gives me so much more confidence because I can get close to the bite point while still on the foot brake, and then just give it a little gas and ease off.
I LOVE driving, and I'm a member of both IAM and RoSPA, and completetly agree with Chris about the importance of checking DURING your maneouver as well as before it. Even at 20mph, cars cover a lot of distance in a second, so the car that 'wasn't there' a moment ago could be visible to you if you do additional checks.
I accidentally drove off in third gear more than once, but didn't stall it because I did it very gently and with a lot of gas. Still not good for the car tho
I’m having such a hard time with this! My instructor says to steer full lock to the right when the triangle disappears.. and I tried 10 times the other day and I couldn’t do it at all!!! 😢
No offense but this reminds me excessively of my anxiety ridden inner monologue. "Expecting the worst. Kids could come from between cars. Are they flashing their lights for me? Could mean anything"
I was at Tesco with my Son this afternoon, he's a Driving instructor. It was hilarious watching all the people "abandoning" their cars, then a Learner comes in and gets it spot on first go. I couldn't do a mock test in London I'd have a heart attack! I can just about cope with Edinburgh.
So my instructor has a petrol car with an electric hand break. I have been taught to bring the clutch up to the biting point and press the gas pedal to release the hand break. I always remove my leg from the pedal because that is how I have been told. I didn't stole the car but now I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly or not. I will ask next time, but if you have any tips, it would be nice to hear them. Thank you.
I hope someone sees this comment, I was in extreme uphill, i do what he did but the car dont move forward, maybe my clutch is bad or it is because it is a small 1.4t engine.
This was exactly why I failed my test last week. The said it was use of mirrors. Also had 3 minors for bad junction observations. If only I had seen a video like this. Thanks a lot for this video as I will adopt it during my test reseat.

Hello there! Your video helps a lot! I am going to Scotland and will drive there for the first time. When I fill my car, how could I if the tank is full? I mean, will it automatically stop filling when it reach the capacity limit so no petrol spills out? Thank you!
Been watching your mock test videos recently. Around 7/8 of them.... Just passed my test 3 hours ago with 2 minors. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO IS TAKING THERE TEST SOON. JUST DO EVERYTHING CORRECTLY FOR 35 TO 40 MINUTES. THATS IT!.... BUT IF YOU DONT. CARRY ON AS NORMAL. YOUR ALLOWED MINORS REMEMBER! GOOD LUCK!
Thank you, it was helpful. Watched it to know what to expect on my visit to the UK, I’d probably gone in to see an attendant before starting fueling 😂. In the US each pump has a card reader and we usually pay at the pump - in most scenarios there’s no need to see an attendant, unless you want to pay by cash. You also have to scan the card prior to starting fueling and it automatically charges by the amount of fuel you pumped in, then hanging the nozzle back to the pump ends the transaction, so the following person can’t use your credit card. Sure thing we have 1-2 states, which made it weird by making local laws which prohibit drivers from operating the pump - they have a designated personnel for that. Our gas (sorry, petrol) markings are also different: starting from 87, which stands for regular and with the numbers increasing towards 93, which is the premium, so knowing that the number in the UK is going down for premium is surely good thing to know. Also in the US there’s some corn shit called E85, which should be avoided unless a person is trying to damage the vehicle. lol
Do people not use automatic cars in the UK? All the videos I’ve seen they’re always changing gears. I would already have to get used to driving on the opposite side of the road. I couldn’t imagine having to deal with that too.
When you move back off after stopped when waiting to turn do you set the gas at the thickness of a coin and get the biting point then keep it there then slowly release and increase gas?
This is the way I only can do it, my car also have electric hand break. I did my test 18 years ago, I wouldn’t be able to do it with handled hand break 😞I just applied to be a driving instructor 😂
