Oh hey, I just visited Wolfe's Neck for the first time this summer! It was my son's first tent camping trip. The canoeing was fun; the estuary becoming a mud flat except near high tide was not. If I go back I will definitely try eating in the harbor instead of downtown.
Aww that's so lovely - one of my favorite memories of the earliest camping trip I ever went on was with my dad and brother on the Ipswich river in a canoe! Feels like I have been trying to recreate that trip ever since :)
I'm so sorry this happened Lindsay. It's such a kick in the gut when well made plans get derailed. Appreciate you posting the realness with this though.
With a van you have options for alternate A/C. In fact, a roof unit would be much better than an engine powered A/C. A roof unit would be able to be used while you slept and not just when you're driving the van. It would require a small battery bank and possibly a second alternator, but the benefits would far outweigh the cost. Just some food for thought and an excellent winter project for the van if you so choose.
Man that sucks! 5,000 seems excessive for the repairs you said they did. Unfortunately it seems you are so attached to your vehicle because of some memories that you let that get the better of you and let your mechanic take advantage of you and overcharge because they knew how attached to the vehicle you are. Personally I think you probably could’ve bought another vehicle for almost what you paid to fix that one. I would’ve at least thought for that money your could’ve gotten the ac fixed! Seriously! Sorry you’re so attached to this old van with so many issues. I would’ve found another mechanic before sinking 5 grand honestly I think you were taken advantage of sorry. The van total value probably isn’t worth 5 grand
You’re not wrong, but I didn’t exactly have the luxury of shopping around 😭 And then you think about the practicality of redoing a whole new vehicle and having to dismantle/discard the old one, the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Used vehicle market is worse than when I bought originally!
Hey! Crescent Beach, my backyard : ) Sorry to hear about the van troubles, but you've got the right attitude to forge ahead. Glad you were still able to get out for a little adventure.
I’ve literally wanted to get up there for a bike party but the timing hasn’t worked out yet!! Also I don’t have a bike LOL but i can probably take one of my bf’s many bikes we have in the basement
Ah Maine - that is just where I am contemplating heading. I have never been to Maine. Lobster roll - oh I am looking forward to that. That looks so good yum.
This is one of the best edited videos I have ever seen on RU-vid. Sorry to hear about your cancelled plans, but this video was amazing. As someone who has dumped thousands of dollars into van repairs, I feel your pain.
It's so important to understand that everyone is ignorant, as i am but it is important to learn everything you can, I've fixed my cars with youtube and friends learning each time. It's important because given that I'm mechanically inclined i would have fixed All your issue and installed a new ac for about 1000 at max because of the parts. They ripped you off. But i worked and mechanic shop and i saw how they are.
Agh, yeah I try to do as much as I can myself, but it's pretty limited to non-mechanical stuff (replacing headlights, etc). I would love to do more actual repairs myself, but I guess it's just tough to get over the hurdle of being afraid to like...mess something up and make things worse. Definitely a 'final frontier' for me.
@@LindsayDaly i understand. I always tell my gf learn, everything you can, if I'm not here with you for some reason you can be fully independent. It's scary, it's hard but if you don't do it you'll always have to pay and i don't like paying. I bought a 02 Chevy Express wheel chair Transporter. I've been fixing it and looking at layout. That's why I'm here xD.
Sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip, although a trip to Maine is always a good thing! Now, I'm a bit biased since there, but always a great place if you like the outdoors. Like you, I too own a Chevy Express and it has had some issues this summer, but it's certainly not time to give up on it just yet.I hope that you are able to get yourself out and visit some other spots, and enjoy the best time of year "FALL"! Lol! Thanks for sharing!
$5K repairs is actually common anymore. When going on a road trip, take along the usual liquids along with some AT205. That stuff has put off repairs on both of my high mileage vehicles for two years at a time.
Very sorry about your van problems! I think I have better understanding of the express belt/alternator relationship and what may be happening to my express when I am climbing mountains. Thanks!
Where do you think I'm headed next? It was somewhere I hadn't even considered visiting soon until my plans were forced to change - but it feels like just the right time to visit this relatively remote park where I'll be leaving the van at home anyways.
So sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip... I also had to cancel a big trip this summer where lots of people were anticipating my attendance, but my car costs got in the way and I had to cancel. Fortunately I have that money still saved up for next year! Also call me crazy, but I think Steve Wallis did a stealth camp video at the park n ride you were at towards the end lol
Shit so you really know my pain exactly!! Sorry to hear you had to cancel YOUR trip, right back at you! Ugh 😩 About the Steve video though: that is so funny, if you remember what the video was called I’d love to see it - I’ve seen many of his stealth videos! That park and ride is definitely one of the tamer spots he would have camped in haha, he is just built different.
RU-vidrs do it all the time they walk-in set up the camera walk back to the vehicle and then drive up. When they get further along they buy a drone fly the Drone in drive past it and then fly the Drone ahead
@@recoblade1465 yeah but most have enough sense not to say we are just pulling up for the first time rite be for the camera does it’s thing…..so see your instincts on coming at me like I am dumb failed do u feel ……….yeah say it now
@JP-fe2mv 4:10 from the garage where I am just coming home from. What you should be doing right now is congratulating her for her amazing editing skills that made you think that she literally said that and then proceeded to drive right into the driveway Siri or you can go slap your teacher for not teaching you how to handle context clues so that you would understand that she said that and then she quite possibly stopped on the side grabbed another camera walk into her driveway set up said camera while back out to the van and then drove in the driveway. I'm trying to be nice here but just think about it for a second because my first comment to you didn't imply anything it was just me giving you the information that you asked for
You are very talented. I enjoyed watching your videos. You’re doing a great job. Most people can’t do what you’re doing. Wishing you well and all your endeavors.
You have done an awesome job in your conversion endeavor. I enjoyed watching you work. I liked your channel and so I subscribed as well. Thank you for sharing your Chevy Express project. I am planning to try to do the same and am searching for another van. Have a great day.
