I am a professional artist, and illustrator in the UK. I specialise in architecture, characters, and the everyday world. I work in oil paint and watercolour too. All that said however it is all about the drawing. My drawings are the basis of everything I do.
I am here to share the art I create with others. It maybe be drawing or painting, That said, my keen interest in architecture and history tends to inform the work as well.
I exhibit often, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Royal Society of British Arts, The New English Art Club, and as far as Tokyo.
I look forward to your thoughts and comments
I do commissions so if you require my services then do contact me on all the links below. Lastly i give away original artworks on my newsletters, and you can sign up on my website listed in the RU-vid links on this page.
So nice you collected mum’ to take along. I have to say that’s a fine steady hand for 80😁. Liam I love the final product that’s a great painting representative of that village. Anyway… cheers mate
What a beautiful film! Loved seeing the preparatory sketches - the first ones with the notes look like some complicated plans for a heist :) Would love to see more of the painting progression - but I know from experience how difficult it is to interrupt your work to do an update for the camera.
I only do heists part time these days. I am not the runner i once was! 🙂 This video has a bit more progression in it... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BdaFVLlD3_w.html
What a charming film of one of my favourite places. The paintings are wonderful - I can’t get over how tiny they are. As a fellow artist I’d love to have seen a bit more of your process.
Thats Stephan, most appreciated. In regard to process, i do about 80% of it on site and the remaining fiddley bits back in the studio. It’s all about time as I’m not a quick painter. You can see one here which shows the process more fully. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BdaFVLlD3_w.html Regards Liam
this is wonderful! I also know the area!! love youtr comments about the cold sea.and the mud in the sea... ver brown water generally on the norfolk coast
Lovely film Liam, thank you. The BBC studios started life as an ice rink, it explains the styling. It wasn’t very successful partly due to the location so was sold off and converted by the BBC.
What an exceptional little video and an even better painting! I volunteer at the ESR myself and lady nan does have to be a firm favourite of mine there. A pleasant loco with such character and charm. Thanks for sharing! Matt
Hi Liam, very enjoyable, thanks. I was in the area and the station only two weeks ago. It's splendid, esp the interiors of the ticket hall as you point out. But just to be picky, the architect was Stanley Heaps, an American who had taken over the position from Leslie Green on the latter's early death in 1908 aged just 33. Both London Underground and Heaps were clearly happy to continue the new stations' designs in the exact style of Green. No bad thing.
Morning Liam.... wow, you crammed a lot of work into this video, all beautiful pieces. You have a lot of history to accompany your work and that makes your pieces even more interesting and diverse. Quick question, do you do any digital art along with your traditional work?
Hi John Always good to hear from you and thanks again for the feedback. In regards to digital art, yes i do on occasion use Adobe Illustrator for this and that. But mainly im all pencil and brush. That said, i do scan my work in using Photoshop but really thats just tidying. I hope that answers the question. Liam
I lived near there as a kid it was our play ground, my love for narrow boats continues to this day. Little Venice is such a wonderful place for me too.
Hello Liam.... you stay in good shape with all the walking you do. I really enjoy your view of the UK, a very personal approach. Thanks again, can't wait to see the finished painting.
Happy New Year Liam! It's been a while and nice to see this beautiful piece. I had to laugh right off at that portly gentleman at the left of your painting climbing the stairs, it was a definite eye catcher! You almost make me want to get out of my comfortable studio chair in front of my digital tablet and get outside like you do, back to traditional painting. Thank you again for a very inspirational video.
Hi Liam, thank you for your video, it's really inspiring. I love your painting and drawing, They are amazing and I specially appreciate the human figures and your caricature and humorous style. Many thanks for sharing your talent with us.
Really enjoyed this. Actually bumped into your comment on one of John Roger's videos (walks around London). I like your technique, can you tell us more? Big fan of art, bicycling and travel and actually visited London about 3 years ago, stayed in the Harrow area. Good luck, happy painting!
I have just discovered you with the help of some other urban sketchers. I’m so enjoying you on fb, instagram and RU-vid! I’ve never done watercolor starting with the dark shadows before. I will certainly try that. Would you suggest using that method when drawing and sketching people? I sketch and paint my grandchildren a lot.
Hello from USA. I absolutely LOVED watching this video - the production value is brilliant. The countryside is absolutely breathtaking. I loved the tutorial - thank you so much for generously sharing your process! I have long been a huge fan of your work, and am so excited to see how your magical paintings come to life. I look forward to many more such videos from you! Stay safe!
