Loved this Ron, brilliantly done. What a celebration of all the wonderful waders and other birds at Marshside! We used to live in the area so its very familiar to us and this brings back good memories of birding there. We don't see a great many waders now, it's one of the things we miss.
I used to see and hear these birds in the hedgerows around my Aunties cottage In England. I loved this bird the most as it was secretive and it intrigued me. I have not seen or heard one for years. I think they have died out in my area now due to big housing developments and changing farming methods. 😢
I see Barn owls all the time up by my house in golden, Colorado.. beautiful bird.. I also see a lot of great horned owls up here as well.. two of the coolest raptors in North America.. 🦉🐦
Thanks Ron: a great compilation, fair testament to the many hundreds, probably thousands of hours you’ve put in at the marsh. Being a Marshside nostalgist myself, please know that these two films have given a lot of joy.
It's #AfricanWildDogDay today. IUCN lists this species, Lycaon pictus, as endangered and declining. Last assessment though was more than a decade ago. I think a re-assessment is urgently necessary. One of my favourite memories is a pack running through our camp, while we were having breakfast outside our tents.
We have a mated pair of barn swallows that returns to their nest under our car port each year. They just successfully raised four offspring. Really enjoy their singing. Too bad they're such poop monsters! Every year, when they finally fly south, clean-up is a chore.
Ours live inside my room. No migration, all through out the years, thankfully, they somehow learned not to poop inside the room, so they fly outside whenever they want to poop . They are adorable tho❤
