I don't have lightburn, but in Corel Draw, you can use front minus back or back minus front depending on your layering, and it becomes on item.

Hi, I do have a question. Other machines you can do repeatable engravings by simply pressing a button after swapping out a piece. Can you do the same with this?

Not on the machine, but you can just change the wood and hit start again in lightburn, so yes, but no.

Great video! You added a Ruida 6442 panel - so presumably your unit arrived with a RDC6442 controller. But there was mention of an Onyx-R that had a (Ryxon?) KT332N(Z) control board (on a website that you had linked in a previous video). Any thoughts ? Thanks!

Thank you for your review on the Onyx-R. I have a quick question regarding the control board used in your (newer) Monport Onyx-R. While specifications in the online (pdf) manual note that the Monport Onyx-R uses a Ruida 6442 control board, this manual has some some references/mistakes that point towards the older Onyx. You have upgraded with a 6442 panel (with a nice case), but some online references for the Onyx-R have stated that their units have a KT332N(Z)? Any thoughts? Thanks again!

I read somewhere that this comes with the air gadget (I forgot what it's called 😂) and honeycomb tray, which is included in the price. Whereas other similar machines you have to buy separately..is this correct? This machine is pretty good looking though lol

Do you have any plans to upgrade the nozzle, to like the one by DSADVANTAGE? Not sure if anyone has yet verified it fits/works with the Onyx, only the Polar and Gweike.
@ValleyForged
@ValleyForged 2 дня назад
They will not work as the hole is larger on the ONYX. I have an upgraded head to test, but I will have to modify it to fit. The stock one, and the autofocus are so good I am hesitant to change it. But I imagine with my upgraded air I might be able to get some deeper cuts.

I've had a terrible experience with this machine so far. Mine came with coolant everywhere because the reservoir cap wasn't tight and it clearly got knocked around in shipment. Anyone know what coolant they use? I need to replace all the fluid that was lost.
@ValleyForged

I just added some distilled water, but if you have it in a place that will freeze then better hold off an get some fluid. You should be able to find which kind on the FB forum for any of the desktop Co2's.

I am a beginner I have everything money can buy as far as Diode Lasers (Atezr) , CNC (Foxalien), machines, 3D printers (Bambu) but my greatest purchase was the XTool P2 and boy has my acrylic cuts and making things really take off. For me its all great and learned so much but now its all CO2 P2. Just having a blast and of course working on all my equipment just to stay on top of it all. But to be truthful at this point 1 machine at a time. I cant keep up running the P2 and try to start up the Bambu. I will just keep it idle and maintain it all but need another garage now! Winter will be coming and wont have room for the snow blower! Maybe take the car out of the garage? NOT!

I'm doing a review on this machine now and agree with everything you've laid out about this machine. It's so close to being a great machine but it just needs some tweaks. This is such good advice for a beginner. There are lots of RU-vid channels encouraging folks to start with a laser costing $4,000 to $10,000 (Glowforge and Aeon influencers come to mind). Starting with a 20 or 40 watt diode laser makes so much more sense for most beginners. As you mention, the possibilities with diode lasers are almost endless. And if someone starts with a diode and later decides they need a CO2 laser, they can keep the diode as a low cost second laser in case the CO2 needs repair but they still need to get some critical work done.

I have a longer Ray 5 20 W and love using it. Mainly bought it to learn and get some experience. I would love to upgrade to a CO2 for my next laser. Any recommendations? Im interested in doing clear acrylic and maybe thin metals, and larger wooden pieces.

Well, you can check out the Monports and get 10% with VALLEY10 (use the link in the description). But if you have the money, Thunder Laser would be my pick (but more for business). As for cutting metal, that is mostly a gimmick with most C02 lasers. I would do plasma.
