What a great product design. I just got my laser and would love the purse pattern! I've started making a few purses with living hinges.

This is a great video of your process of your cool wallet. I curious as to how you clean the soot off without a lot of smears and smudges. I will look for your file. Greg

I really don't end up with much soot. I am guessing it is the type of leather I use and the right settings. The leather cleaner leaves no smears at all.

Looks like a great pattern! Could you link to the fabric marker that you use?

So I am curious about the wood used here. Like have you durability tested it... ie used it for a week or two. Just wondering if going that thin of wood it will crack with use. Its a very interesting idea though, so here in NY our licenses suck. Its becoming apparent to me that a soft small leather wallet isn't ridged enough and any flex and those ids crack.

I have only tested for a few days so far as it is brand new. BUT, I am using hardwood. I have made many hardwood keychains that last years out of the same wood. No, you should not put it in your back pocket. But in a purse or front pocket, it should be fine. I suppose we are experimenting, which is fun with lasers.

What wood species did you use? Did you glue the leather to the wood or just sew it? Can you please link to the leather providers you like? Thank you for all of the great content!

I have used Cherry and Padduk, yes I glued first. Will add links to the description

Depends on what type of leather/wood etc... but I would say $40-$60. Mine are in a store right now for $60 but I used Italian leather and nice wood.

do u use your S1 more now for your leatherwork or the new atomstack?
@ValleyForged
@ValleyForged 2 месяца назад
I got rid of the S1 as I don't use XCS. I am using the new Atomstack, which did a nice job. Any diode laser seems to do a pretty good job on thin leather.

I might do that in a few weeks, but there are so many great videos on saddle stitch that are better than me. Just look it up on RU-vid. :)

How to I get the last piece(the back piece) back to a straight line piece?
@ValleyForged
@ValleyForged 3 месяца назад
Go to some videos on 'node editing'. You should only have to delete a couple of nodes and it should go back to straight. Learning how to use nodes will change your game :)

Thanks for the tips I finally figured it out. I’m just a new user so still learning

@@MrElmo01us Just so you know, most people are pretty new. I would say maybe 3% could delete a node without looking it up. I would say I still don't know what half the things do in Lightburn, lol.
