Huh. Interesting. I am new to your system and i am intrigued by this distinction between reinterpreting external inspiration through the self (this right-down approach) vs starting with the self and the body- self's reactions and desires (the left-down approach). I feel like most style advice and systems I've read about have an approach more like the former, so I've developed it as a learned skill even though it's not automatic for me. Fascinating.
Priscilla you are lovely and so brave! From a fellow Lady Heretic- remember, we make the clothes, the clothes do not make us. No matter how much they cost- they're going to be beautiful because you are in them <3 You are the spark, not the designer.
I looooove being intimidating :D No lie, I like it. It makes people bring me their best and then in return I can give them my best as well. Iron sharpens iron, that sort of thing. In certain occasions, esp with children, I tone it down a lot. It's a skill I really enjoy having.
This nature analogy , especially like the sometimes you’re a cherry blossom but that’s only in the schedule two weeks per year, but the rest of time you’re more of a rainforest. Like this was so helpful!!
I'm mixed race, 5'5" and have lipidema. Kibbe's system straight up doesn't work for me. A year of studying and I have come to the conclusion it's just not a useful tool for me. It also felt really frustrating because it's so vague and non-scientific but people treat it like it is. A year of beating myself up for not fitting into a guy's idea of what body types there are. Conversely twenty minutes with the quadrant system and I knew who I was. I imagine there are a lot of people out there that Kibbe felt intuitive for, it just wasn't for me.
You have really thought deeply about all of this! I’m incredibly lucky that you share what you know, because deep reflection is really hard for me, but boy do I recognize myself in this delicate essence framework! I’ve got your Foundations course, and I’ll be working on the first activity tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to it, I can tell you. But now I’m going to go watch the style rut video you recommended🥰
I am loving this presentation🥰 I got to the part when you were riffing on the wildflower theme, and I had to stop and really think about being a wildflower. I think a wildflower can dress in any color, but always with a steady green background. Also, she is attractive to bugs and animals, not for her looks but for her inner practical worth- she feeds them or whatever. Also, she is well suited to “normal” occasions but not galas. I hope I’m coming across clearly. Any way, I think I’m finally building a Rita-like framework for my style. It’s a framework that lets me feel great about my good aspects and desires, and not focus on things about me that I’m not comfortable with. At first I was really intimidated by the Style Key approach because I’m not so good at introspection, but I’m growing to really like it. I’m super glad you make diagrams for everything- they really help me. Best of luck during your maternity leave. Such challenges and joys!
So I just learned that the Wildflower is a left-down archetype and not connected at all to what I was thinking about earlier. So embarrased😬 But still, loving your videos and advice
Diving into more and more of your videos and your style system is so refreshing to me! Becoming more and more sure I’m Moonstone. I did a “style try on” at a mall a few months ago and shocked myself things I convinced myself would not look good one me but tried it on anyways, then it actually worked on me!
So random but what quadrant would you place Helena bonham Carter? I feel like I’m a LU but I adore her style so much and how she’s able to express herself even if it’s not everyone’s cup of tea
Congratulations ! This video reminded me of being short of breath at the end of my pregnancy, so I was wondering when you recorded it. I wish all the best for this new chapter :) Love the video too. So insightful, almost like therapy. All the best
This is so fun bc im worried i can't pull this off bc im not ethereal enough but like Thay's Crazy im a litteral fey being what else do you want from me lol😂😂
I love this video! I'm tired of seeing recs that are all the same preppy outfit with a cardigan and a blouse with some ruffles and tiny details for SG.
As someone with Gemini rising/Gemini sun in their zodiac, that also have Mercury as the ruling planet (albeit in the element of Air) this is very interesting to view Mercury from the perspective of Earth. I also love the seasonal connections!
Officially typed Moonstone here: just this week I noticed that I don't have the exact type of clothes for a new task that I took on - volunteering at a food bank. The clothes need to be functional and comfortable, but I like them to be a tiny bit chic or dressy. I want to be comfortable while I do the manual labor but also have fun and feel good in my clothes. I still need to figure out if any pieces in my current wardrobe really fit that description or if it is time for shopping... Thank you for this little inspiration/motivation/permission to audit my wardrobe for the situations I will encounter. 🩵
It's been So Eye Opening that i've been v raw and chaotic my whole life and thought that being Refined was the Goal of fashion owo; I Am rly drawn to Whimsy tho...
