We're educating in the suspension and shock absorber category to figure out what all these different shock designs and brands actually provide you, the driver. Offroad shocks vs Trail shocks, race level vs enthusiast level, digressive vs linear valving - lets get some real world results on the dirt, on the trail, on the track.
Have bp-51 on my 2012 Defender couldn’t be happier. Made specifically for the car. The only thing I would change is the adjustability, but understand they are like that because of the internal bypass.
Ill cut the bullsh%$. I have owned all of these shocks on my Tacoma and will tell you the best ones for the money are the Rancho 9000xl. Let me tell you why. Adjust-ability and build quality. I have never had a problem with these shocks although you will see many bad reviews from company employees trying to get people to buy their products. Save some money and just dial in your favorite settings in front and back.
I've got kings.. I love them.. however having them since 2019.. they now require a rebuild.. Also, living in Washington state.. the moisture has caused them to start squeaking really bad.. particularly at the bottom of the Hiem joint.. which I now have to lube up every few days when it's dry out.. also the total chaos uppers the suspension came with.. rusted out badly.. so I had to switch them out with some spc brand uppers. Overall the kings ride really nice on the street..Even in their current state and do an awesome job offroad.. I have a Mercedes suv..which handles like a sports car.. my kings handle corners just as good as my Mercedes..
So i live in the UAE and we do a lot of dune bashing out here. I have a 2 dr Outer Banks with the Hitachi shocks, and 33s. The Hitachis have performed well dont get me wrong, but I know my limits and how crazy i can go. Ive been thinking about the Eibachs for sometime but the 5100s seem like a good shout as well, especially that im planning on getting 35s. Do you think getting the 5100s on 35s with a 2 inch lift is worth it? especially because the car is my daily as well. Would 2 inches be the ideal height and would i also need UCAs?
I have narrowed down my shock selection for my tacoma to this two options, so I'm glad this video came out, I am leaning towards the dobinsons because they seem to offer better flex as compared to the OMEs, and I'm trying to maximize flex (without having to weld or cut anything of my truck), but boy I want the OMEs
I have purchased the AG Shocks and have not installed them yet. But it looks like they are better than these and on par with Reiger or Ohlins. Having electronic adjustments is the future
I've blown out 3 sets of ranchos in a year and will never use them again. Hot pot holes, and it blew, off-roading, blew. So I didn't have to change again, I sold my jeep
I have a Tacoma TRD short bed 4X4 and I asked for the 3 inch ready lift suspension , on what position should I place the clips to get the full 3 inches of height ? Position 11 and 9? or lower?
Living in Honduras, about 80% of driving is on rocky dirt and potholes. Obviously the BP51 is the best choice for comfort, but the budget isn't there for me. The MT64s look interesting. How well should they perform, comfort wise, in and unloaded Taco in this environment with the full suspension kit compared to stock? Thanks for the video
I bought the stage 3 kit from Icon and it was so stiff. Considering taking it off and putting something else on. What would you recommend for smoother street performance. I feel every bump with the Icon setup and my daily commute is miserable. I want something that is butter on the road and can hold up well off-road. Any ideas?
I bought the Fox 2.0 coils and rear shocks and the example of airing down is absolutely right! 👌🏽 super smooth over wash boards and great for normal road conditions! Worth every penny.
Can you do a video explaining how you set up compression/rebound on the BP51's please? Very interested in your logic for setting up for corrugations, and also for softish sand. Thanks - David
Curious as to how the 6112/5160 combo stacks up to the Eibach PT2R setup. Similarly priced. I imagine the Eibachs are a little softer and comfier all around but the Bilsteins will handle more abuse. I’m running a GMC sierra at4 3.0 diesel.
I have a ford F-150. I pull a 7000# lb boat with it. I have airbags on it and everything else is factory. The airbags completely eliminate any squat but it’s so rough when unloaded. How can I soften my unloaded ride and still eliminate squat when loaded?
My oem fox bypass shocks on my 2023 trd pro Tacoma need rebuilt at 30,000 miles. They’re pretty nice in fresh shape though. I know aftermarket is better but for what they are they’re solid. The bypass setup works pretty well on the streets as bad as roads are getting here in the US
do y'all have a bottom out bumper stop for the fox internal bypass 3.0 These are on the rear of my 2016 Polaris RZR turbo I'm trying to find them in orange shaft 7/8 " 2 1/4" tall
