*******DISCLAIMER: All of the bacterial experiments that I perform are conducted in my home which does not have the same conditions as a laboratory, and is for entertainment only.*******
Wow! The inside glass on the oven door is one of the hardest areas to clean for me! In the past I have resorted to using copper scouring powder that felt somewhat caustic to me. 🫢
Did you do a control? Did you perform the same test without using Lysol just to see the results. What if you get 0 bacteria colonies without using the Lysol?
Here is the video with just laundry detergent: Is It Enough?? Laundry w/ Tide Pods & Drying Cloths To Remove Bacteria?? I Tested w/ Petri Dishes! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gPSyRFN3-Zo.html
Wet the microfiber, wipe the toilet rim. Then DRY it with the polishing cloth. Then test. The bacteria is in the water as well so you need to dry it to remove it all?
It looks great but I just can’t keep dipping my mop into dirty water to clean a dirty floor. I will stick to my double chamber O’Cedar Spin mop system.
I realise you have a ton of suggestions to test, but mine would be a probiotic cleaner please? I think, if they work as efficiently as advertised, then they really are a game changer. I know some can be pricey, which is a shame.
My go-to solution is about 1 tbsp dish soap in full-strengh vinegar. Vinegar by itself may do a good job on bacteria, but I feel like the dish soap helps remove oil or grease. Plus, soap has a "sticky" quality that helps hold the vinegar to more vertically inclined surfaces (like the sides of a tub or shower). I don't do 50/50 vinegar/dish soap because it takes a long time to rinse off all the soap residue. About 1tsp to 1tbsp dish soap is enough.
Viewers should understand this is not meant to be a scientific random controlled trial (RCT) but is helpful to identify label claims for at-home use to reduce bacterial/viral load. Your nice visual of the petrie dish before and after speaks volumes to "see" the evidence. Identification would be nice even if just some of the top bad performers: Strep, Staph, Covid etc but does require a great deal more time/work/expertise. However, even this limited information IS helpful for those looking to reduce the viral / bacterial loads, especially during an acute illness phase. We know viral /bacterial loads contribute to the infectiveness by increasing transmission potential to others. This information is valuable when caring for elderly, children, or anyone who is ill in the home. Changing bed linens daily during acute illness (and particular pillow cases) on those who are ill also helps reduce the load from respiratory secretions. I doubt there are too many "good" bacteria on toilet seats /sinks/ counters and this should not be a concern when the product is used as directed. As an infection preventionist nurse, being aware of all the tools in your tool box is wise; you give us a choice and I for one, appreciate your channel for the general public. Remember wash your hands frequently with soap/water and dry thoroughly. I'll keep watching!
Have you tried soaking the sponges in an Oxi Clean Laundry product that achieved great results in your previous tests. I would also like to see a test done on so called Anti-Bacterial Dishwashing Liquids. They make the claim that if you apply a generous squirt of detergent and massage it into the sponge, that it will prevent bacteria growing in the sponge for a 24 hour period. I apply these Anti-Bacterial Dish Washing Liquids to my sponges and scourers after every use, to try and keep any bacteria from growing in them. I frequently using a Dish Wand for easy and quick cleaning of small cups and plates. The detergent reservoir in the hollow handle is always kept filled with an Anti-Bacterial Dishwashing Liquid. I have repeatedly checked to ensure that the non-scratch scourer and sponge is always kept saturated with the Anti-Bacterial Dishwashing Liquid in an attempt to keep bacteria out of the Dish Wand. Do these Anti-Bacterial Dishwashing Liquids live up to the hype?. Am I just wasting detergent and money?
Have you done a similar test using alcohol? I just now ran across your channel, so I haven't had a chance to go through your previous videos yet. Thanks in advance!! I'm asking about the alcohol (91%), because that's what I normally use, especially on toilets.
Yes that was one of my first videos: I Tested 91% Alcohol: Did it Disinfect My Home?? - VIEWER REQUEST! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R5Xg7Zs11NI.html
Hi there. I found you accidentally. Love your petri experiments. Such a cute word. ( did you ever see LAND BEFORE TIME DISNEY MOVIE . The little 🦖 's name was Petri. Anyway love the testing. Have you ever tested Microfiber Cloths? They say that they remove ninety nine percent of bacteria
Hi! The Land Before Time, yes I saw that decades ago! HAHAHAH! Microfiber cloths 2 tests: Norwex, and Ecloth I will link both below for you Can you Remove Bacteria by Using Only Water?? Can i ask a question, I have multiple chemical allergies .. so I'm curious and a bit concerned .. are the chemicals in it, really something we should be putting in our rinse cycle and just leaving in our clothing?
I test products to see if their claims match what I test in my home. I cannot decide for you or anyone if it is something that should be used. Personally I just use it for cleaning cloths because i am not concerned about bacteria on clothing.
Maybe can you test the different Lysol spray can? Maybe the can defective ? Can you try the Lysol can the white linen scent can or the Lysol fabric one? See if it makes a difference? Also can you add to the video to show testing of Clorox mist and microban ?
I have tested two lysol cans in two separate videos. Not sure I will revisit it again as I have 1500 suggestions.. but I will add Clorox mist. I have tested microban here: Does Microban Kill 99.9% of Bacteria? I Tested it with Petri Dishes! - VIEWER REQUEST!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Q3V87YMmyk.html
Please do test on concrete outside, basement, and garage floor and some rugs where shoes go over 24 hours and can you test if the barrier last on shoes for 24 hours?
I continue to really like your content. I tend to watch several at a time because while not a person of science, I wonder what the surfaces in my house are like. I think because I’ve subscribed to you, I saw some other petri fish test video on another channel and … that person was *not* a science person. I hurried away from that content post-haste to see this careful, methodical channel again! I don’t think I’ve seen Simple Green on your channel. Is that on your list? It’s kind of early 2000s nostalgic for me, but I’m pretty sure it’s still in stores.
I tested vinegar in the laundry as well Does Vinegar Remove Bacteria in Laundry? Bacteria Tested! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v4ey1A5a-WA.html
Well this was disappointing! I use baking soda and vinegar, so what is a better product to use for this?? Thank you so much for your videos, they are brilliant and so very much appreciated!!!!👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏💯💯
@@FieldOfFocus oh thank you, because this is something that is so needed! We need good bacteria I agree, however it is the bad bacteria that is part culprit in a already depleted soil base along with pesticides that is wreaking havoc on our digestive systems and hurting our gut terribly. Maybe you could try the name brand “vegetable washes”, Clean Boss has one now and then there is the more popular one, I think it is called Fit vegetable wash or something like that. Again thank you and bless you for all your hard work!! I have subscribed and I am spreading the news about your videos!!!!Blessings!!!!👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🙏💯💯💯
If you use city water, it contains bleach, so that's probably why you saw a decrease in bacteria. Ozonated water would probably be the most effective way to clean the lettuce, but I'm just guessing.
We have well water so no chlorine in our water. I tested ozonated water.. haven't made the video.. because it was just dreadful..... I might give it another try.

September 2024 It'd be great if you wore gloves... I would like to see your hands tested when you're not wearing gloves and each one of those conditions!!
Hello! So I don't wear gloves unless I am cleaning with a caustic cleaner. Plus my hands do not touch the petri dishes, I use sterile swabs. I wash my hands off screen many times throughout my testing.
I needed to hear that today. Really. This weekend I was bombarded with emails, comments, DMs, with people demanding I test whatever product they wanted. One even went so far as to say they asked me last week to test XYZ product where were the results. At first I found myself apologizing, then ... just not replying. I want to put my energy into the viewers who care and support me! Thank you!
I think that breathing that shit in everyday is probably a lot worse for you than using a cleaner that leaves behind a minimal amount of bacteria. I think having the expectation that your home will be 100% bacteria free all the time is unrealistic and you will harm your lungs and body with the products you use trying to achieve that.
I have never stated in my videos that I am trying to live bacteria free. I just test products to see if their claims match the results I get in my home. I test all sorts of products: Mrs Meyers, Dr Bronner, Clorox, Dollar Store... all sorts!
I've been doing it like you at the beginning by hitting the pause button. I had to subtract 2 minutes from the pause time because if I didn't manually turn the machine back on early the cycle would start emptying the water. It may not be a perfect 16 minutes total but it's probably close.
Hello, and I THANK Y for all the time you take to help us! I was wondering does Gain with Oxy+and febreeze compare to the LYSOL laundry sanitizer? I LOOOOVE the sell of Gain but I'm very interested in sanitizing my laundry and these new machines sometimes get a smell to them and I was wondering if it can be helped and with which products? Thanks in advance! Have a safe, happy and blessed day 🙏🏿 😊
