TinyBoatFishing is a channel by and about an ordinary everyday retired couple's outdoor pursuits. We're located in and fish the central Ohio, Newark area. Formerly from Meigs county, Southeast Ohio down on the river. We are Sonya and Ken. We love the outdoors, fishing in our 1988 14 foot Gamefisher Vbow and bank fishing. We are also avid tent campers. We are pretty old school in our activities. Use Zebco reels, older techniques, will be using cane poles in some episodes. We'll be showing the not so good and good events and outings. The dull with the exciting. There will be conversation in the videos, not just few second cuts of catches. Keeping it real life. No slick professional produced vids. Just real life fun. Share with someone you know who might be interested. Check out our other channel Tent Camping With The Old Folks. @@tinyboatfishing1 Everybody has days like that where sh*t just seems to be the word of the day. Funny how they often seem to string together though one after the other. I usually just power through them, unless something in my gut really tells me, just go home.
That's a great little lake. I prefer night fishing there over day. And there are some nice fish in there. Congrats to your wife! And I've been skunked by my wife a time or two there also. lol.
Thanks for posting, hard to find any comments on this model tent! I hope you are ok, that was a bit of a scary experience you shared. By the way, have you ever had it out in the rain?
You are right, finding anything on this model is scarce. We have had it in the rain and it's quite watertight and holds warmth well in cold weather. The only thing we haven't used it in is snow because getting a good snow at the right time when able to go camping has eluded us.
We're excited to try them out. And it will take some of the surprise out of her catches versus pulling a mystery fish out of the water in the dark boatside. lol.
Yes it did. She kept asking me what kind it was. I was afraid to commit an answer and embarrass myself as I had no idea. 'Officially' there are only channels in there. But that head- and so disproportionate to the body.
We traditionally have a large family camping trip the week after the 4th. Son and daughter-in-law hasn't had a honeymoon as yet and they took the opportunity of his week off work for their semi-annual shutdown to do their honeymoon. That didn't go as planned either. 300 miles from home in Kentucky they stopped at the end of an exit ramp and the car died. Some sensor/electronic problem. But we got the granddaughter for 6 days and all is great. They live in West Virginia and time, work schedules and distance we don't get to see her or them as often as we'd like. And Abby, we get pretty much every day, same, moms work schedule. But anytime we get either one or both is always a special treat.
I did not get a shot. Called the minute clinics and around and they wanted appointments for a week out and I figured well, ride it out if it's going to be that long. lol. No ill effects tho. Couple spots still from entry and exit points but all is good.
I love tomato soup since a little kid. Always took a thermos to the pond as a kid. One of the old plastic thermoses with the silver glass lining that shattered if you looked at it wrong. lol. But it just seems "right" to have one every outing.
Perfect little cooler. I carry a dry bag with ice to throw fish in. Haha, older I get the more food I bring out, too. There is a lot of that going around.
We've added more food and snacks. And tend to eat it all on a trip. Something not quite going to plan with that... My daughter has a Yeti semi soft sided cooler, zipper top and it's the perfect size. We've managed to borrow it a coup,e times but she won't part with it. lol
Our fishing in this area has came to a screeching halt lately. All reports and what I hear from friends nobody is doing much good. I keep hearing rumors or speculations of a late spawn this year as our waters took awhile to stabilize. Maybe?
I don't want to come off like we're against kayaks. I just wish some would put a light of some sort on them. Fishing after dark is awesome. Or rather just being out there after dark is tops. Usually the only ones on the water here, watch the stars. Listen to the night sounds. It's cool after a hot day. Just a whole different sensation and peace sets in.
I wouldn't mind a kayak to a point. If I could swim I'd have one. Looks like you can access anywhere on them. My observations on kayaks are people who have rolled one and went in the water and those who are yet to roll one and end up in the water. But I'm convinced they are right handy for their uses.
Thanks for sharing your latest adventure on the lake! Nothing more peaceful than being on an inland lake that is surrounded by wooded hills. Puts me in mind of fishing with my late bride on Piedmont and Clendening lakes. Wish we had recorded some of our trips. You have a treasure trove of memories that you can sit and watch and enjoy together.
Thank YOU Pappylachia! We too have let so many things over the years slip away without pictures or videos. Most of it before pictures or videos were such a part of life as now. But like you, those times were lived in the moment and committed to memories alone. I'm sure you reflect on those fondly as we do. Living in and unencumbered by the trappings of tech is sometimes better than with. ;)
The problem with that- what they call a river here- is the lack of access. Very very few public access points. But- at least I am looking into a way. The normal accepted way seems to be by kayak. Put in at one public access point and take out somewhere downstream at another.
Isn't that the truth about the hobby! Spend more time prepping- fixing- getting things out- putting away than we do on the water it seems. We're typically, 9.9 times out of 10, the only ones on the water at our go-to lake after dark. We were up-lake making our way back to the ramp for the night at idle speed. Just enough for the motor to run smooth in gear. Caught a hint of a silhouette 15 or 20 feet in front of us. Hit the spotlight and it was an unlit kayaker crossing left to right in front of us. Then he had enough sand to be upset with us. Not like he didn't see the nav lights coming a literal mile away. Knee jerk instinct was to wave wash him after that. But we didn't lol. I don't mind kayaks at all truthfully but if one is going to be out on open water after dark put some lights on it. ;)
We have fished a lot of that area as we are originally from Meigs county, just upriver and across from Pt. Pleasant. We've fished a lot of the ponds in the old TNT area and the mouth of the Kanawah up to the boat ramp just before Krodell. We'd really like to get a trip down that way and hit some of the places again.
I have and am still considering a set but a little hesitant as if they fit as loose as the caps I'd hate to spin one off going down the road. But they are not off the table by a long shot either. I'll have to mic the opening to get the size again. I keep spare bearings in their packages in the parts tote and I can't remember right off what size they are even. 1" I think? No way I remember the cap size.
The red eyed demon- the world famous Mothman of Pt Pleasant, W.Va. We lived in that area, Ohio side of the river and was in Pt Pleasant a lot and fished the area a lot in the not so distant past. It's a stainless steel sculpture of the Mothman. Our areas claim to fame. :)
I talked with some others in passing there this evening, nobody was getting any bites let alone fish. Like you said, some days they just don't play well . She enjoyed trying them out and looks forward to more this weekend. Thanks! :)
I've come to expect this out of those. The first one I bought in 2015 lasted 3 or 4 years. Every one since is about a year now. Not worried about it in warmer weather but want one to last thru the winter.
