Dude you bought one! I've been wondering about this bike since it came out. Great features for the price, for sure. Congratulations. I will be on the lookout for future updates.
So far I'm really digging it. Never had live by wire before and it's night and day. Love how it feels standing and so far the 19 inch front wheel has been ok. (used to 21 inch) but I'll tell you $8,500 out the door I couldn't pass that up - so stoked to have a new bike. I'll give more updates / videos when I can get out there....
Headed up to the McKinney side this weekend. Plan on riding through on my Honda CRF 450, this will be my 7th year. Was the trail blown out from the Jeepers Jamboree?
This “horse canyon” trail is now closed to motorcyclists due to over usage last year. It got trashed from squids and goonards spinning their tires everywhere. The MLT side looked like Chit as well. MLT isn’t tore up this year. I’m guessing because no one can access it from 88 at the HC stage spot.
I always feel bad when I see bikes out there. Beatsthe crap out of people. Waited 30 minutes for a couple dudes going up whalebone. Terrible tire choices.
Awesome, we practically lived there in the 80's and 90's, been through on an xr600, xl600 and xr650l. Never tried on a smaller bike but it's probably more enjoyable. I hate being short up there, the ground is never where it's supposed to be until you're laying down.
At the beginning of this video I was thinking that I need to do this trail on my DR 650 someday? 5 minutes into this video, I realized that I should take my Beta 390 instead!!!
THIS is exactly what I was looking for! We rode Loon to Tahoe round trip at least twice a year in the 80’s and I wanted a recent bike video to review before we do it again in September. 👍👍
yeah, I never understood that, some dork in a jeep actually said to me, "get outa here, this ain't no place for a bike"🤣🤣🤣🤣 I smoked him through there on an xr600
Live nearby, been obsessed with trail ride videos the past few weeks. My Ultra Classic wouldn’t last out of the parking lot on most trails, but I can dream. I once took a 39’ motor home down that damn road looking for a place to turn around or boondock. Was hilarious that ‘92 Class A plenty of power and didn’t get stuck at the entrance to the Rubicon. Wish I still had it, the Jeep, or the ATV’s. Now though I want an adventure bike for the BDR.
thanks for posting. I have ridden this trail so many many times on a lot of different bikes. I'm going to tell you and try not to laugh. the best bike to ride the Rubicon on is an XR250. no kidding! i have ridden big bore 2 strokes, and 4 strokes of all types. even a dual sport. but the XR250 was the perfect size bike. smooth power and not too much power. very plush suspension and a comfortable seat. If you have an opportunity to ride it on an XR250 try it. you will love it.
Did that ride once over 20 years ago on my drz400s. Round trip dual sport ride from grass valley, through the Rubicon and back. So much fun! Drz took some hits. Broken water pump cover, good thing I carry quick steel. Haven't been back, would like to just don't want to do it alone. Sucks to be a loner sometimes.
Getting over surgery so me and my toad dog can travel from Arkansas and do the con. On our bikes. Been planning for this for years.thanks for the video.
Thank you for posting this! I have always wanted to ride this but have aged-out at 68, but at least your video lets me pretend. I started it on my EXC last fall but turned around, thinking to go back with my 300. But it looks too relentless even for the 300. Really impressive ride and fitness.
There's a few spots if you don't pick the right line you'll be pushing up it. It's a challenge for sure! I'd say give it a shot with your 300 and see how far you can make it in. The big rock slap isn't far and it's fun to ride on.
@@danno02 yes let’s do it. Let me know when you’re available. Maybe we can get Dean to join us if he still rides? I text him when we went to Downieville in October and never heard back.
Only good thing about so many rocks is it cuts down on dust but they are hard on the body, what kind of headsets are you using, they seem to work pretty good.
I helped build many of those trails in that country and over buy bucks lake . I was actually trail boss for the dirtbike club for many years. Nice to see people enjoying them. Pretty much all the people that built those trails are too old ride Or have passed away. I was one of the main people That fought the forest service for taking a ride in right away in the National forest that was a battle. I think we lost like 3700 miles single track in The Plumas in Tahoe national forest. We had some wild single track and some of the best probably in the country but not anymore and we used to have a bunch on Sierra Pacific property but not anymore. Do you guys go over and ride the bicycle trail and go up it motorcycle people built that trail and we had officially registered with the forest service as a bicycle people try to kick it off I don’t know how it is today but they couldn’t can you kick us off those are trill officially. It used to be part of one of our loops so we would ride up the trail and we do our best to stay out of the way and bicycles arson have somebody ahead Warning bicycles but every once in a while bicycles are so out of control you can completely be stopped trying to stay out of their way and then watch one hit you then you can move your in a pile and then the next bike could come down and join the pile in the next it was pretty wild. Well I’m glad bicyclers love it it brings lots of money to the area which is a good thing. I was raised in the area my dad work for Caltrans took care of 49. Thank you for making a RU-vid video it was nice of you to take us a long . Nothing better to clear your mind and keep it healthy
