Old Trafford is hallowed ground - just like Anfield, Bernabeu and Nou Camp. All 3 of them have been redeveloped. To ditch the home of the Busby Babes, Best/Law/Charlton, the Sir Alex years, seems unimaginable to me. Aren´t we above that?
I'm a Liverpool diehard fan (but definitely NOT a fan of the vile owners). Those other 2 stands and the surrounds desperately need redoing. A massive club like LFC deserves infinitely better.
As a fan of the club for over 60yrs I feel that a new stadium is essential and the capacity should be aimed to be at least 100,000 simply because we need to give the opportunity for young supporters to attend matches. Anyone observing the crowd disperse after a Premier league match may have noticed the dearth of young supporters despite a family stand. and a full house of nearly 75,000.
Hopefully Anfield is only really halfway through its redevelopment with Phases 1 & 2 already completed. I am hopeful that Phases 3 & 4 will get the green light in order that it will finally be completed sometime before the end of this decade.
Aston Villa already have plans to upgrade their home ground of Villa Park and increase the capacity to 50,000. No timescale has yet been put in place, but I would imagine that they would want to have it completed for Euro 2028.
Nottingham Forest are having a look at relocating to the South West of the city in an area known as Toton. The plan would be to build a 50,000 seater stadium.
@jimbo6059 the club would need to buy up the 2 rows of houses immediately behind the SKD, as the residents living behind the SKD have a right to light without a towering new stand looming over them. The club will also need to have some sort of infrastructure to aid fans too and from the ground before any rebuild could come to fruition. There was talk of reopening an old train line that runs close to the ground. But that's all gone quiet. Imo I do believe that we will see a new SKD stand in the next 10 years. Or a new Kop in that time, they both pose their own challenges, the Kop is probably more realistic than the SKD. As much as I love the 2 new stands, Anfield kind of has a St James park feel about it atm in that it is incomplete.
Americans shouldn’t discuss English football - ever . Oh and pronounce names accurately please . St James 13th ? Lol …. Oh and be accurate factually too …
The emptyhad offers a huge electrifying atmosphere 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤫where did they get their facts, as Goodson park is not under construction, that would be Bramley moor Dock.
