Board Games such as Monopoly, Risk, The Game of Life, Cluedo, Connect 4, Twister and Battleship are mainstream board games that have withstood the test of time.
Since 2008, Board Games have made a huge resurgence onto the social gaming and mainstream field with an increasing number of board games being released each year.
Classic board games like Settlers of Catan, Pandemic, Carcassone, Dominion and Legacy style board games have changed and shaped the board gaming landscape and brought the social nature and love of playing board games back to life.
OMG i’m falling in love with this game. I know that I should try the base game first but all those animals in the expansions are also amazing and really hard to pass. How is it learning this game? Does it have a bit of a learning curve? I’ve never played the pc game before. I do like Ark Nova but this seems like building up your zoo ground up seems pretty interesting. I am seriously contemplating going for both the base and deluxe. Not sure if it is wise to do so. I have been playing board games for a little while now and can play medium to heavy games. (Though not Lacerda level yet) Hoping that I can totally learn the game correctly and enjoy it.
Thanks for your informative video about the upcoming expansion to Zoo Tycoon. Like many others (it seems), I had all but given up on trying to understand the base game rules and frustratingly put it aside and even tried to sell it on. Thankfully I still have it, as I’d like to give it another chance when the revised rule book comes….and the expansion looks beautiful! I absolutely love the theme and artwork of the game. Thanks for giving me hope I’ll one day get my head around Zoo Tycoon!
I really liked your videos am just like you I bought so many games you like I like animal cute meeples , I just played life of Amazonia yesterday it’s really cute you should play it and wild Serengeti can you make video about Wingspan, arknova , wild Serengeti, life of Amazonia how they different in mechanics, theme, luck vs strategy It’s suits you And I have planted discus tank , marine tank with corals
G'day friends Have you played any Zoo simulation games? What are your favourite zoo games? I really would love to see more zoo themed games out there, especially more on the complex side as we do need a few more of them! What are your favourite heavy games? This is a safe space to chat and share your thoughts and opinions. Cheers Danny
While there are a few rare occasions that it isn't the case, spinoff versions of games are almost always a cash grab or profit-seeking practice imo. Especially if it's just a reskin (I'm looking at you, Monopoly, you'll never enter my house no matter which of my favourite franchises you monotise next). HOWEVER, for people like me who can be entirely put off playing an otherwise fab game simply because I don't like how it looks (I know, sue me), there are times where a reskin can actually be what makes me go from meh about a game to getting the hype. For me, at least, I was super excited to get my hands on Wyrmspan and have loved playing it so far. One of the people I play games with regularly already owns Wingspan (and all the expansions lol) so it never felt justifiable for me to own it as well, on top of the fact that I just felt very mid about it. I knew I enjoyed the mechanics and gameplay, but I just... birds? It's cute, and the art is beautiful, but I'm sorry, dragons are just way cooler xD Buuuuut... I'm also the type of person who will own 5 different editions of the same book just because I love it, so I'll happily take a reskin of a favourite game any day. (Flamecraft but make it cat familiars? Please?)
ooh, I tried BGA for a little while but wasnt too much of a fan mainly because I spend a lot of time in front of the computer every day already. I think BGA is great but love the physical tabletop experience.
Carcassonne is one of our most frequently played games that even after a respite it eventually returns to the table. We have introduced the game to many friends over the years and it carried us through the pandemic on Board Game Arena. I have Carcassonne Big Box and several additional expansions, so I thought I might be done making purchases. Looks like I need to make an exception with Mists Over Carcassonne. I think it will be a hit. I like that it has a solo play too! Thanks for your fun and creative review.
My first time buying a board game outside the realm of the very typical stuff that everyone knows, one of the store workers recommended root to me. Fantastic recommendation! I frikin love it! He just failed to mention how hard it would be to get any of my friends to love it 😅
Good vid! Hoping to be impressed by World Wonders and Meadow but no one wants to play them except me. Good thing there’s no expiration date on game boxes!
Once it starts creating anxiety within you, purging games that don't resonate with you is the next evolutionary step in the board game hobbyist journey
Evergreen is within the top five favorite games for my wife and I! We love it! We are currently on the Pines and Cacti expansion to be shipped. Can’t wait to give it a try!
Hey! Love this video idea. I have Evergreen sitting on the shelf and I really need to get it on the table. Looks so pretty! I'd like to explore Salton Sea more, and finally play Baseball Highlights: 2045 (people say the solo is good).
G'day friends! I hope you are all well. I'm sorry I have been absent for a while. Life has just been really busy. I really tried my best to get more content out but its so difficult! What are some games that are sitting on your self waiting to be played? Are there games that you finally got to the table and was impressed or not impressed by it? I would love to hear your thoughts, stories and opinions. This is a safe space to share. Cheers Danny :)
Don't worry about keeping up with videos. Life is hectic and you should get to take breaks without feeling guilty. For games in my backlog, really what I have recieved from crowdfunding campaigns: Castle's of Burgundy Royal Édition, A feast for Odin, Find the Source, Elements of the God's, Hunted Wode Ridge, Minotaur, Mechanical Beast, Paper Dungeons and Canvas. Not including solo only games like Gloomhaven Buttons & bugs or The Forgotten Road. I've only played the Merlin Big Box, and Heroes of Might and Magic III once each. I have only played Zoo Tycoon, Oros, Nightmare Cathedral and Spirit Island twice so far. I tried to sit down to Arkham Horror the LCG and struggled to self teach myself the setup twice. I just get too busy juggling a handful of MMO's with friends and guilds, and don't sit down to boardgames as much as I would like. And Lego building competes with boardgame time now also.
i’m so glad to see the stacks everywhere like mine! it seems everyone on youtube has wall to wall display shelves in dedicated gaming rooms. I just have waist high stacks like I’ve recently moved! thanks for the videos
The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem, Danny... the next is eggcepting Jaysus into your hart to fill that empty hole you're trying to fill with board games. In shallah
Great video. Loved it, so I subscribed. I think for games which use buildings the square shape tend to be better, but games with use landscapes is generally better with the hexagon in my opinion. I have played a lot of dungeons and dragons and here this is illustrated particularly well where, dungeon or city maps tend to be better squared, but open terrain or big overview maps tend to be better with the hexagon, especially if the maps or boards are bigger. Of cause I love chess, Dungeon Quest and Hero Quest which use squares as a board very well, but when it comes to strategy fighting games or exploration games I love the freedom, option and look of Hexagon games like Settlers of Cataan, Kingdom Builder and the Castles of Burgundy.
