Lol i like the idea that Aerodactyl not being in legends arceus is weird. Like a time traveler goes back to the 1800s and is wondering where the dinosaurs are.
Re: Aerodactyl Sinnoh seems likely. Not appearing in the Hisui region doesn't complicate that if it went extinct prior to Legends Arceus. Just like living in ancient America wouldn't mean you'd see dinosaurs as a human who still existed long after dinosaurs. Of course, it could also be native to both prehistoric Sinnoh and Kanto.
It's a longshot, but maybe the upcoming Z-A will show us Mew's habitat. Why? Guyana is actually a region in South Ameria that consists of five countries (collectively known as the Guyanas), two of which have "Guyana" in their name. The Cooperative Republic of Guyana (which is usually what people are referring to when they say "Guyana") is a former British colony that achieved independence in 1966. But there's also the other Guyana: FRENCH Guyana. It's an overseas territory of Kalos's real-world counterpart to this day. I could MAYBE see the postgame taking us there.
Aerodactyl not being in LA is easy to ignore: the game was set in the world's equivalent of the very end of the Edo Period/early Meiji Era (mid to late 19th century), not millions of years ago.
hey man, i took a look at your channel to watch more videos of yours and saw this is kind of new for you, i'm happy for you that you're getting more views. please keep doing the videos you want to do though! this one was great and i look forward to your future ones
The theory that Giovanni "created Pokeballs that prevents happiness evos" is rendered invalid by the fact that Bill made a Time Machine to transfer said Pokeballs to Johto times and them working perfectly fine there. I'd be more willing to say the general acceptance of Pokemon to be used as "tools" and not "friends" is definitely a more plausible excuse. After all, Oak even scolds his grandson about it when he loses the Champion title, and we see whips on Tamer, Rockets, and even Sabrina! Perhaps a change in the perception of all Pokemon after Red becomes the Champion led to friendship evolution to be unlocked.
Even though we learned about the scrapped Marowak evolution that looks kind of like a Kangaskhan, I've always been opposed to the Cubone Kangaskhan connection theory because Kangaskhan is SO BIG compared to Cubone or Marowak. A Kangaskhan's head is big enough to fit a Cubone in its mouth, there's no way it's wearing that skull like a little helmet. Also, Kangaskhan's ears are floppy, not bony horns
Eevee is not native to Unova. I believe Eevee is native to Kalos and Paldea. Kalos because Eevee can be caught in the wild there AND gen 6 introduced an eeveelution: Sylveon. Paldea because not only can Eevee be found in Paldea quite frequently, but so can some of the eeveelutions!
Jynx & Smoochum should be a Johto Pokemon, since you can catch Jynx in the Ice Path, you can only catch Jynx in japanese Blue in Seafoam Islands Murkrow should be a Sinnoh pokemon, IMO - you can catch them there in the wild, it got its evo Honchkrow in Gen IV - it migrates to Kanto from Sinnoh (think of like Rattata in Alola) hence why its available so late in it, so it could be the same reason as with Sudowoodo also Celadon City is now heavily polluted (NPCs talk about this, and you can only catch Grimer & Muk in the little lake in it, instead of other water pokemon by surfing) - maybe the pollution attracted them? Houndour can only be caught on Route 214 and Lake Valor in Platinum, and Route 9 in Unova only during a Mass Outbreak, so its either a Sinnoh Pokemon (if counting remakes, wasn't catchable there in the original Diamond / Pearl) or an Unova Pokemon if not could also be that its a Kalos Pokemon, since you can catch them regularly on Route 10 in Kalos Horsea, Seadra, and Kingdra are a bit of an interesting case, IMO - Kingdras Dex entry states it sleeps on the ocean floor, and creates underwater currents and whirlpools, it makes sense that their original habitat would be Whirl Islands, and they migrated from there to Seafoam Islands - and lost the Dragon Scale along the way, hence why they can no longer evolve also Horseas make their nests in corals, maybe the corals they make their nest in no longer exist in Kanto and they migrated back? I mean, you can catch Corsola near Whirl Islands (in Cianwood City)
What if hypothetically all Cubones are actually Charmanders that have lost they're parents.(Which is portion of they're original lore & there's multiple videos about it.) & Wild kangaroos we're just running around and they saw this baby Pokemon that was in desperation need and care. I would like to think that there is a lot of equivalence between the Cubone and the Charmander lines we just don't know everything yet because the Pokemon company wants to keep us in secret and that's one of the main reasons why I admire your videos. But also I want to go back to what you were saying before I strongly believe that cynical is a Sinnoh Pokemon simply because if you play legend Arceus through you will see through hey Hisui Tysplosions pokedex entry that the flames on his back are controlled buy multiple spirits which leads you into a lawyer with Spirittomb. I apologize if I misspelled any of the names but I did just want to throw out this few couple of things.
I don't think you're overthinking at all, All of these concepts seem very logical, Some more debatable then others but regardless still logical. I'd like to imagine all the Horsea & Seadra's probably just ran to the Alola region.
Maybe all the evolutions and other pokemon did exist in Kanto but wasn't the Pokedex rare in the earlier gens? Maybe the people that owned them didn't show them off cause they thought they were normal? 😅
That's definitely plausible! You'd think someone would realize that they're the only trainer who had a Politoed, though... ...then again, no one even has a PoliWRATH anywhere in Gen 1! lol
I wouldn't count MissingNo. Because technically if you count it you must count the other 104 invalid index "entities" like 'M, Q and other glitchy stuff, this also includes glitch trainer so it get's weird pretty quickly lol
That's true! I used "Missingno" as a placeholder for the collection of glitch Pokemon in Gen 1, since it's the most iconic imo. But the other glitch Pokemon are different from Missingno, and many have completely different graphics. I mostly just wanted to throw it in as an excuse to talk about it! ahaha (and to show how "weird" Mew is by grouping it with a Glitch Pokemon lol)
@@BabusGameRoom I figured lol, I wonder how you'd classify the other stuff too, because there are some weird things like Glitch Trainers which aren't exactly pokemons, there are hybrids and most importantly some of those glitched mons when transferred to gen 2 actually become usable gen 2 mons, for example Totodile can be acquired with the glitch PKMN (C5), so does that mean that some of those gen 2 mons are actually kanto mons? Lol technically yes but actually no...?
Fantastic video, I subscribed! One thing I’ll say that I’m certain I’m not the first to is that I don’t see a great reason why certain Pokemon cannot be native to multiple regions. Pokemon regions seem to be more artificial, “national” constructions, as evidenced by the national dex. While they do have their own biomes and such, I don’t see why a species of Pokemon could not be native across multiple areas that were then divided into these national regions by humans. In biology this would be called a cosmopolitan distribution, as opposed to a species only found in a single region it is native to called an endemic species.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! =D Pokemon can definitely be native to multiple regions -- I'm just "assigning" them a region based on the first-released region that they're "from", kind of like how Game Freak says we have a "Kantonian Rattata" even though it's equally reasonable to call them "Johtonian Rattata". It's not the best terminology, for sure! ahaha
I like how Gen 1 is the basis for most of those Pokémon to appear in other regions (such as Eevee, Snorlax, Lapras, Tauros, Legendary Birds) from a meta standpoint yet it also explains why they're in Kanto in the first place due to them also existing in other regions where they could be native as an ingame explanation Also, thank you for pronouncing Guyana right :)
Gen 1 always did hint at a bigger world being out there! I remember one trainer on the SS Anne battling with what she called "exotic Pokemon" (I think)...she sent out a Pidgey and maybe a Pidgeotto. ...maybe she came to Kanto from another region! lol And I'm glad I got the pronunciation right! =D
Leave it to GameFreak to finally make Celebi legally obtainable outside of Japan... only to have it become re-unobtainable due to the EShop shutting down.
Par for the course...lol At least they didn't lock the event or anything crazy like that. It's accessible to those who've purchased it already, and even after Bank shuts down, it can live in the Gen 1~5 ecosystem forever. ...it's something! lol
The thing is, the Gen 2 games never present the new Pokémon as “Johto Pokémon.” They’re only ever presented as newly discovered Pokémon. Gen 1 media is pretty explicitly taking place in the real world Kanto region of Japan, with Pokémon being a newly discovered type of creature, hence why Professor Oak and the Pokédex are such a big deal. Gen 2 started to drift away from that a bit, by calling it Johto instead of Kansai, but they still have weird things like eggs being treated as a new discovery. Point is, new Pokémon being in Kanto that weren’t there in Gen 1 was treated as you just not knowing it was there, not as something that wasn’t there.
You're definitely right, and that also lends support to the idea that Gen 1 and 2 exist in their own canon. Given that there weren't really any new places in Gen 2's Kanto, the argument that "the player couldn't find those Pokemon" isn't especially satisfying to me, personally. I could see it being something as simple as migratory patterns, though!
8:44 The easy answer for that is that in the Pokemon Manga all Kanto Gym Leaders were members of Team Rocket when Red went on his adventure, and as the governing body of the towns they could do that
That's why I think I'm onto something with the Team Rocket theory...even the Manga writers knew that so many weird things were happening that just wouldn't make sense! haha
I'd say that the babies should be kanto because they were probably considered to be just the baby versions of these pokemon until they discovered the differences they had to their parents before evolution. Another great video.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it =D I guess that'd make the babies sort of like Nidoran M/F, where they aren't really sure how genders vs. species work...so I guess age/species could also be something they struggled with! haha
But wait a second, blissy evolves from Chansey which in the Kanto games, can only be found in the safari zone. So blissy isn't a Kanto pokemon, it's from wherever Chansey is
Chansey can actually be caught in Cerulean Cave in Gen 1! In the Kanto video, I placed Chansey in Kanto for that reason, since the Cerulean Cave doesn't seem to be especially weird in any way aside from being restricted to champions. I may take a second look at those odd cases in the future though! (I think it's just Chansey and Lickitung)
I imagine Team Rocket brought a bunch of dark types from other regions as a potential way to counter and capture Mewtwo (likely Sinnoh, since both Houndour and Murkrow occur naturally in there) and once Red defeated them, the Pokemon TR brought escaped or were released, then became feral and turned into invasive species around Celadon. Kinda like what happened to foxes in Australia or mongooses in Hawaii.
Thank you for that! I searched pretty hard to find out who composed that specific track, but I guess most places didn't feel the need to spell out who did each and every track when the entire soundtrack for multiple seasons was done by the same person, haha I've edited the video's description, including a special thanks to you for pointing this out! =D
While I have it on my mind; my thought is that if you truly believe Team Rocket could enforce a curfew... then is it not possible there was misinformation campaign being used about these evolutionary items (except the upgrade disk) being harmful or potentially dangerous to your Pokemon so they were not used. Additionally I like to think that from a mechanic and lore reconciliation that the magnetite Pokemon not being weak to fire was simply due to our observations. The 'IT was super effective' comments were from the trainers right? So maybe our trainers just didn't notice it was doing more damage. It's not a perfect explanation but we have to keep in mind, this is a game using mathematics to emulate real life. It is entirely possible we didn't notice and magnetite in Kanto just in general withstood it better. I mean it's all speculation here but that's my 2 cents.
There could've definitely been misinformation campaigns about held items! It'd be strange to me that they'd be discarded manually (without notice to players) by trainers though, so that leads me to blame the Pokeballs. Great point on the "super effective" comments coming from trainers! The damage calculations were, of course, accurate...but Gen 1 had a lot of glitches related to the "super effective" messages. Definitely hard to come up with conclusive explanations about Magnemite, haha
@@BabusGameRoom I guess my point in that is is it not possible that as a species the became more frail over 3 years I know it’s op positive of what would be thought of as evolution but just like a bunch of house cats released would struggle if a bunch of magnemites started to fallback to being more susceptible due to natural predators not being around or looking at a different angle maybe the steel coating is an evolutionary trait that happened to defend against types like normal (think common moves ) to give them more resiliency. Just some other takes.
I think there's a stronger argument for Togepi being a Sinnoh Pokemon thanks to it being found in the wild in Legends Arceus, that said it's likely either near extinct or so critically endangered that its population is only kept up through controlled breeding efforts, which would explain why cynthia has an egg to give you in platinum, and why its so rare in Galar, it's possible that their evolutions used to lay their eggs around these areas, but that their populations have been for whatever reason devastated.
The evolutions of the kantonain pokemon didn’t exist because the catalyst that fostered their evolution did not exist in Kanto. Just like animals evolve in the real world based on the reason they live, so do pokemon…
