Always reminds me of a break up after a 7 year relationship but it turned out good and taught me a life lesson, never have a relationship with someone who hasn't got a sense of humour.
I will be turning 70 this October and I have often play this to remind myself of the hate back then. I grew up during these times. I was 9 years old when JFK was murdered, I was 14 when MLK and RFK were murdered. As a people and country we must raise and make sure this wonderful country of ours never, never repeat’s the hatred of the 60’s and 70s and ensure these period in time never happen again. We owe it to our children and our country again. This is what I think of when I hear Tom Clay wonderful rendition. God Bless our country.
I was 7 years old when Robert Kennedy was killed. Afterwards, I began to read anything available about him and today I'm in my sixties and not a day goes by that I don't think about him.
Predjudice is when black people speak their racial ebonics. Bigotry is when a white person accuses other whites of being racist, yet they all live in predominantly white areas and not one of them would ever move into a black area.
Nothing can evoke memories as viscerally as melody and lyrics. We can bridge a lifetime of years, be instantly transported back to a time and place, becoming completely emotionally overwhelmed. Yet, fifty years hasn’t diminished the power of this recording one iota, anchored by a stunning orchestral arrangement. Aural heaven. CTW was a songwriter for the ages. A beautiful, poetic bard whos statue should adorn St Pauls. This song has Ben covered by artists such as Cliff Richard, Judie Tzuke and Art Garfunkel, but this original is the holy grail.
