The Stoney Ridge Farmer Channel is an ever evolving regenerative farm project. We are building a way of life here on the farm and an income (eventually) to get me out of the corporate world and into the outdoors raising crops, animals and eventually children in a peaceful loving environment.
The Stoney Ridge Farm 150 acre farm nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Most of my videos are practical videos of things that need to be done around a small farm to keep equipment and the farm up and running.
These "how to" and Vlog type videos are meant to be informative and entertaining tidbits of farm life here on the Stoney Ridge.
I hope you enjoy our videos, please subscribe to our page and Ill teach you everything I can about starting a farm from scratch. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Well it is Pride month. I've seen a lot of people who are crossed up lately😓 I'm gonna get in trouble for saying it😦 I've heard Arnold Schwarzenegger in my head a lot lately "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU"
Definitely over regulated. I appreciate you trying to do the right thing. Even so you can’t do the right think if you don’t no the right process. It can be very discouraging.
You can’t use it for limiting greenhouse gases for the simple reason that nobody can tell you: 1. What may be heating up the planet. 2. If it’s CO2, then we are on the brink of having too low levels (0.004 ppm), though more CO2 is very good for plant growth. 3. No history supports that claim (no industry). 4. 1,000 years ago, there was a Mediterranean climate in the Northern Hemisphere without any disappeared countries. However, for the purpose of reducing particles in the air and unhealthy gases, it is a good idea to balance the costs with the real impact (not ideological impact).
The first ms311 I bought, I had to take back the same day, it quit running before I got through the first tree. The replacement runs great. The ms311 doesn’t cut as fast as my older 440 and neither is compares to my first Stihl an 056 magnum. Although heavy that thing was awesome when blocking firewood, the weight allowed me to just hold the throttle it would do the work itself. A long day of felling trees with that monster was felt though. Maybe it is altitude but every Husqvarna product I have ever bought has ended up somewhere in the trees because they either wouldn’t start or stay running. I also have to wonder about the 16 inch bar he was running on the Stihl and the aggressiveness of the chain. Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought bars below 18 inch run the rounded non aggressive chain for yard pruning. I don’t recommend to anyone what I do, on special projects I will cut the rakes off the chain. This makes a dangerous tool deadly but the Stihl 440 doesn’t spit chips, it spools out noodles
"Tractor" insinuates a machine that runs all day and sometimes late in the evening. 4-hour runtime?! LOL The government mandating these not ready for prime time tools can go fly a kite. Smoke and mirrors.
You’re starting out behind the eight ball with the quality of your black angus. They do not have ideal frames. For a good grass fed animal you want them a tad on the smaller side & thick & a dot shorter. I run a heard of registered black angus & have bred & achieved what your trying to do. However I was never able to produce an exceptional animal off of less than ideal females. Even when artificially inseminating with exceptional bulls with exceptional EPDs it’s almost impossible to achieve what you’re trying to do without starting with the correct type of female. Just because they are black angus does not mean anything. I’ve sold off tons of females that just would never produce what we were aiming for. Not even there daughters off of really good bulls could produce what we wanted. You need to start with a rock solid group of females that in-fact already have the qualities your looking for then put them on the right bull & you have a program that you can build off of. You will waste years & I mean years & never achieve what you have in mind if you’re serious about producing females & feeders that fatten on grass and females that look great with very little input. Those black angus you have are higher energy animals that would require a lot of feed inputs to get them to look thick with nice cover all year long. Cheeto is a good looking bull but your females are weak in the hind quarters & you’re not going to change those things with Cheeto. Not across the boards anyway.
My tools and toys that I work and pay for, are not for others benefit that do not want to buy for them selves. If you can't afford or justify purchasing a tool, then you should rent and not borrow, period.
